So by your logic I guess Clementine may be a Republican, Kenny may be a Nazi, Luke may be homeless, Sarita may be a lesbian, and Jane may be 63 years old. Nick is not gay. That is a fact. We can't create our own story lines then claim them as respectable theories.
Dude - your opinion is not proven to be factual.
The only facts we have is that Nick and Luke grew up together and have been childhood … morefriends. Beyond that it's all open to conjecture. So you can have the opinion that he's straight - but it's not actually a known fact of the story that he is.
As has been pointed out here there are plenty of signs that could be read as showing he's gay. All you are doing is proving how straight is seen as the default when there is a lack of evidence. But that's the whole point - neither Luke nor Nick have said anything that proves without a doubt they are straight or gay.
So while it's fine to say you don't think he's gay, you have no grounds to come in an sling "my opinion is fact" around.
Saying a theory is stupid and delusional isn't debating. That's making a comment about the person who holds that theory. You *are* saying that people are stupid and delusional for thinking that.
Let's put it another way. How can a theory - something that has no body or mind - delude itself. It can't. You're trying to be allowed to insult people while claiming you're not insulting people. It doesn't work that way.
And saying 'it's the internet' is not a strong defence either. Just because people are rude on the internet isn't justification for tolerating it. It's a challenge to call people out when they are trolling or being rude. We should expect better from people even when on the net.
Finally - there's nothing wrong with people saying they disagree. But only if they are presenting their view respectfully. Saying "I don't think Nick is gay. I think he's straight" is totally fine. Saying "Thinking Nick is gay is delusional" is not.
It's unreasonable to say "your theory is stupid and delusional. But that's just my opinion so don't take it personally." That is an attack statement and saying it's just your opinion is not an automatic defence that magically protects you from people being offended.
Nobody has said you, or anyone else, is stupid or delusional. They may say the theory is stupid or delusional because they don't see any con… morecrete evidence behind it, but why does that matter? There are always going to be people who hate on another person's opinions/theories, it's just how the internet is. The point of a forum is so we can debate, not universally agree about something. As you can see from the thread, some people agree with you, and then there are some who don't agree with you. There is no need to take it so personally..
I am sorry that you've been on the receiving end of hate in real life, I am in no way justifying that kind of behavior. What I'm saying is that there is no way that people with different opinions are going to censor themselves, especially on the internet. There will be people who are courteous in expressing their different opinion, and then there will be the douches who just don't care what their words can do to another human being.
I mean I've been called dumb and told that my "brain is screwed up" over this shit so yeah, people are saying that.
I take it personall… morey because the thread about Bonnie having a crush on Luke doesn't get this kind of hate. I take it personally because this isn't just about theories, it's about representation for real human beings who are gay and play this game. Of course it's personal.
Like I said, it's FINE if people don't see it. What upsets me is when people feel the need to express this by being unnecessarily malicious.

I lol'ed. This is a walking dead video game forum. I think its ridiculous (I mean absolutely ridiculous) and hilarious that people think Nick is gay. I think its even funnier that you are getting this defensive. I mean I am actually laughing out loud at how serious you are taking this.
"Its pitiful and its backwards" . . .what? How on earth is this a valid theory ? No one here is disagreeing with you because they are against gay people. We are disagreeing because it is a stupid thread with no validation. Calm down.
Do people even realize how ridiculous this is, that we get into arguments like this each time someone dares to say "Hey, I don't think this … morecharacter is straight"? It's pitiful. It's pitiful and it's backwards.
I'm sick of wanting to have serious, civil discussions with people about valid theories, only to be constantly be invalidated by people coming in and saying how stupid and delusional we are.
It's fine if you don't see it that way and a lot of you have expressed that opinion respectfully. But there are folks who want to treat us like we're crazy, like we're grasping for straws, like we're trying to purposefully stir up trouble. That's not fair. This is harmless. All we're doing is humoring the idea that a character we like could serve as LGBT+ representation.
I just want one thread where the word "gay" is used and there isn't a shitstorm.
I remember a Nuke thread were someone was telling people to kill themselves. Literally telling people, "go kill yourself." Over thinking two guys might be gay! Just that! It's beyond fucked up. There's nothing to warrant that.
It would be nice if mods could start cracking down on homophobia. It's hate speech just as any other.
Real talk. I hate not being able to discuss anything LGBT+ related here due to all the homophobic assholes or the dismissive people who say … more"it doesn't matter" It matters to me, and I want to discuss it. That should be enough, but no, I have to write up an essay of reasons on why it should matter and then people STILL don't get it. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
I'm gonna stop there since I'm tired and I'm making myself upset thinking about it, but I agree, I'm sick of it too. It's not this thread alone either, it's the whole goddamn forum. I bring up the idea of a character possibly being queer and I'm told to get out and called a lesbian slur? That is honestly disgusting.
What's being gay? He certainly hasn't exhibited any signs of being straight either. You know most of us don't go around talking with a lisp and making dick jokes all day long while wearing glittery spandex.
And as has been pointed out *by gay gamers* he has exhibited a number of signs of being gay. Here's the thing about gay guys and straight guys - straight guys usually miss the signs a guy is gay. Like I said before - people always assume a guy is straight until he either snogs another guy (and even then I've still seen straight guys claim the two guys were straight and just joking around) or someone sticks their peepee somewhere not straight. (And even then I've seen some guys claim that's not always gay. Seriously. You underestimate how much straight folk are hard wired into assuming everyone is straight by default.)
WTF? Who is a homophobia asshole ??? Seriously just because someone doesn't think a character is gay doesn't mean they are homophobic. You people are hilarious!
We shouldn't be talking about "gay" on this forum BECAUSE NO ONE IS GAY IN THE GAME IN WHICH WE ARE PLAYING! (besides Walter, who is now dead) Its that simple. Im not homophobic nor is anyone on this forum.

To clear things up, I haven't said the theory was stupid or delusional. I was merely trying to bring some insight as to why those comments were said in the first place. People are not going to censor themselves on the internet, I'm not saying it's right but that's how it is. Yes, I do expect more of other people, but it doesn't do any good getting really worked up about it. Stay calm, and see it from their pov(even if that pov is morally wrong), conduct a civil debate. Don't sink to their level.

The "Walking Dead" forum is no place to be discussing LGBT rights. I don't understand why people are taking it there. The thread was to discuss if Nick is gay. My and the logical player, do not think he is. Its that simple.
I would actually think it'd be pretty cool for Nick to be into Luke as a minor character thingy. Unfortunately, if it does happen, it's not gonna expanded upon much now that Nick's a determinant character :/ although I would find it pretty funny if both him and Bonnie turned out out to be attracted to Luke and Luke was totally and completely oblivious to their crushes on him XD
Okay, well, humor me for a minute. Explain to me how it's ridiculous. And don't say "there's no proof." There's no proof he's straight, either. Let's take the "proof" thing out of the equation. Just explain why it's ridiculous for Nick to be gay.

I wasn't talking about this thread in particular when I said that, nor the subject of Nick being gay. So kindly step off, you're being way too aggressive about this.
I've seen people here openly admitting to being homophobic, so no, you're wrong. And no character is gay? Hello? Matthew? Walter?... Even if that was a valid reason to not be discussing LGBT+ issues, you're wrong again.

And yes there are homophobes. Self-admitted homophobes.

But here's the thing, Tinni. The douches won't learn to better articulate their thoughts if they are let to run rough shod across the net with a "that's just the net" argument.
They need to be called out and verbally dismissed. Not just ignored, but dismissed for being incapable of formulating a reasonable argument.
Everyone is capable of reasonable discussion even when they disagree. Being a douche is about attacking, not about reasoning or thinking. I feel people need to be called out when they behave that way. Be it in real life or on the net.

Ok I am going to dis-regard the entire middle part because that is your opinion on how to find out if someone is gay. I think my MAIN argument here is that Telltale would not make a subtle hint at a characters sexuality thorough 3 episodes . . . The fact is the majority of people are straight. because nick showed zero signs of being gay UP TO THIS POINT there is no reason to not think he is straight. I mean were talking about a cartoon character.
What's being gay? He certainly hasn't exhibited any signs of being straight either. You know most of us don't go around talking with a lisp … moreand making dick jokes all day long while wearing glittery spandex.

Oh that's not real life, I'm talking just here on this thread. Real life is a different story.
You're right, but this is harmful homophobic behavior that extends to real life. I can't stand by and let it happen. Like Evinshir said, people need to be held accountable for their words.

Then where does the saying "Don't Feed the Trolls" come from? These people who say mean things on the internet want to get a rise out of you, and by getting angry/reprimanding them you are giving them what they want. They are trying to start a fight on purpose. You are giving them fuel by making it known that their comments have bothered you. skoothz, you are making no sense and trying to make this into something bigger than it is. Its not ridiculous for nick to be gay but as I said in an earlier post calling Nick gay is like calling Kenny a Nazi, or calling Carlos a dog lover. Unfortunately for you, most arguments require proof. This theory has no proof. Im not saying he acts straight, I am saying Telltale would have clearly made clear by now if he was gay. Don't say "they wouldn't." Clearly, Nick is not gay. Calling Nick gay is like calling every current member of the group gay. The game is focused around zombies not who is LGBT, so this really isn't the forum to be discussing who is gay or not.

On one hand, I would like it if Telltales would go that way and represent more LGBT in general.
On the other hand, I would like for the characters to be more developed first.
Since the question of the thread is 'Do you believe that Nick is gay?' I will answer with no, for now.
He just does not give anything from himself that could be 'clearly' interpreted as more than just friendship with Luke.
They have known each other for 20 years now, they are very much like family for each other. The closeness from them on screen is not untypically for such a long friendship. (That is how I see their relationship!)
No. You don't get to "disregard the entire middle part" and still claim you're right. That's what is known as a strawman argument.
You can't say Nick has shown zero signs of being gay when you are being told by gay people what the signs of being gay are then dismiss that. You can say "I don't think he comes across as gay to me." But that's different to what you have just said here.
You are presenting zero signs of being gay as a factual statement. And then you go ahead to prove the very point that you are choosing to ignore - that people assume straight as a default. But the whole discussion is built on the understanding that there are signs that suggest to those who are used to seeing those kinds of signs in real life (as well as doing it themselves) that suggest that Nick *might* be gay because up to this point THERE HAVE BEEN NO SIGNS HE IS STRAIGHT EITHER other than straight by omission. Which isn't proof of heterosexuality at all.
We are talking about how a character is written by the writers and the clues they have been dropping about his history and relationships. Now those clues can be read a number of ways. But they are not *zero* signs. If there were zero signs this discussion would not have gone on for nearly as long as it has. So clearly there are some signs.
And as episode 2 showed, TellTale are ALL about subtle hints rather than upfront statements of sexuality. The main criticism about the Walter/Matthew relationship was that TellTale were trying too hard to be subtle rather than just outright admit that the characters were gay. And again, in that episode there were no less than three, possibly more, hints that suggest that Nick and Luke may have some kind of more than bros deal going on. It's all open to interpretation.
And that's the problem.
But all you can claim is that you don't see those signs as proving he's gay. What you can't say, however, is that people are pulling the theories out of thin air or that Nick is factually and categorically not gay.
