Thoughts on Luke & Clementine

People are saying that Luke is Clementines new guardian, what do you guys think?

Comments

  • I say no. A friend, and someone who treats her more like an equal, but he is by no means her new caretaker.
  • I would say he is more of brother figure to Clem.
  • Yeah. I think they have a really awesome and adorable relationship going on. I wouldn't really say he's her new caretaker. He allows her to be the one to go do the extremely dangerous missions and will sometimes ask her to do some dangerous things himself. I think he treats her as a valuable partner/friend.

That doesn't really mean he can't be her guardian, though. I was my little sister's legal guardian for quite a while, actually. I don't really see Luke as such quite yet though.

  • Brotp T.T awesome siblings until the end...which I hope isn't any time soon.

But yep, Luke's the caring older brother, while Clem's the sassy little sis that bosses him around and makes him cry to sleep each night for beating him at poker all the time >:D heheheh.
  • Clementine is Luke's guadian.

Especially considering how Luke looks like he's run out of gas after burning himself trying to free the group.
  • Yeah I see what your saying. It's just that it seems that people translate Luke as Clem's new guardian as him being the new Lee which we all know he could never replace.

  • It's unfortunate that someone as seemingly nice as Luke can't be considered a "guardian" to Clementine.

Firstly, Clementine doesn't need another guardian. Lee taught her more than enough stuff to keep her alive and surviving. And as of "In Harms Way", Clementine has solidified herself as other people's guardians. Which is really why Carver liked her, cause she was strong-willed and tough.
  • More brotherly and a really nice friend to Clem. Not necessarily a guardian or mentor.

They're like brother and sister (Best BROTP ever) so I guess eventually he'll get there... he only met her like two weeks ago guys... you really expect him to separate oceans for her? He's doing a damn good job considering they've not known each other that long.

Overall though, he mostly guards her but at times slips up, which is reasonable, again only two weeks... Anyway, he's a good dude.
  • Well, some people may translate Luke as Clem's new guardian, if they like it, why not?

I see it more like a brother/sister relationship though.

  • I think Luke and Clementine will have a brotherly, sisterly relationship. I also think they're going to be pretty good friends and partners in crime. I honestly don't think Clem has a guardian. People say she's a "young adult." But, people have to remember she's only eleven and she's still growing up.
  • Well, people tend to bond fast in stressful situations.

Lee and Clem only knew eachother for about 3 and a half months. :S

  • Yeah, but it'd have to be different two years in the apocalypse. After seeing how bad people can be, it's easy not to give your life for someone that you have the slightest doubts about. Then again, Luke isn't really like that. He could have left the group and Clem but came to the rescue, whether or not his plan actually worked.

No, no, no. You must have it mixed up, Kenny is her new guardian, Luke is her new friend.
  • I hugged him immediately when he pulled me into the store. and it made me happy. I see him as an older brother to Clem. was great to see that he was alive and had returned to rescue the group.

  • Best brother and sister relationship in the world... and they aren't even brother and sister :P

The bro/sis relationship they have reminds me of how it is with my older brother... Luke sort of reminds me of my brother in a few ways, which may be why I like Luke's character so much.

  • I'd be delighted to :) firstly, since you and I have more of a protective instinct towards Clem, some of these might not apply to you:

step one: everyone needs to throw out their "When in doubt, send the 11 year old" tshirts. Sure Clem is a sneaky bad ass, but do you really think she appreciates always being used to do everything for everyone?

step two: Make it a point to her that she's more special than everyone else by giving her all the good stuff. For example, when she wasn't too thrilled about sleeping on what Carver apparently thought was a bed, if I were there, I would have stole everyone else's pillows and built her a bed, then I would have given her my jacket to use as a blanket, while everyone else was left with only a floor and some chairs.

step three: every time someone hurts her or disrespects her, stand up for her even if it means you'll be hit or beat. That should really show her that you care and love her.

step four: always reassure her that her jacket isn't ugly.

step five: give her an oxygen mask, and then release walker-killing gas into the air that you've scientifically prepared specially for her, and then say to her "you're welcome".

step six: bring Lee back from the dead.

step seven: build her a house where she can start her life fresh.

Congratulations, after completing all seven steps, she should really really, really love you now, and it will appear that you've separated oceans for her. And remember, never pat her on the head, she hates that shit.

I had too much fun writing this :P

  • i think it's the other way around. Clem is the one that is taking care of Luke
  • Good friend? Sure.

Guardian? Hell no. I wouldn't want Clem to be taken care of by someone who advocates that jumping over buildings and killing walkers is *fun*.
  • But... but it is fun!

  • Luke does need a guardian. Did you see the state Luke was in from being away from his guardian for only one day?

  • Clementine doesn't have a guardian. If anyone comes close to being one it would probably be kenny
  • Kenny has the Epic Mustache.

Clementine has the Epic "D" cap. never pat her on the head. since you'll be touching the cap, and this is an unacceptable heresy.

I'd be delighted to :) firstly, since you and I have more of a protective instinct towards Clem, some of these might not apply to you:

  • I don't have a little sis. I have big bro though, although I don't see him very much. We're really different.

  • I don't think Clem has a guardian this season. In season 1, she was weak and could not really defend herself until much later into the game. Which is why she needed a guardian. Lee was by her side 24/7 and took care of her, sheltered her and taught her. That's why Lee was considered a guardian. He did what a parent had to do for Clem to survive.

Now, in season 2, Clem is independent. Sure, she still needs help but everyone does. And she knows the basics of survival. Heck, she's tough as nails now. So she doesn't need a guardian. No need for someone to shelter her like what Lee did, because she can do that by herself. Clem can now watch people's backs. And that's what she and Luke are doing, they are watching each other's backs.

So yeah, Luke ain't Clementine's guardian. They're like brother and sister. And I think that's awesome :D

Right now Luke seems to be like a big brother to Clem, but who knows, maybe he'll (or Clem if you'll have the option) start to consider himself as the guardian of her?
  • Same here. I have an older brother and he reminds me a lot of Luke. ^^
