Does anyone else dislike Clementine's voice acting in Season 2?

I find it really flat and emotionless pretty much all the time. Every line feels like it's being delivered in the same tone regardless of context.

I know that Melissa Hutchinson might be a holy cow among fans and I might get crucified here, but what worked for S1 Clem really doesn't work for S2 Clem. She's not a kid who's unsure of herself and the world around her anymore, her voice should be a lot more expressive.

Hm... that's really a good question. I'm the fan of Clementine and I really like this character. You can call me fanboy or whatever but in my opinion her VA is doing just fine in this season. I don't see anything wrong in Hutchison's acting.

It makes sense if you think about the 'emotionless' delivery. Clem's growing up in an emotionally-draining world. It's little things like that show just how depressing it is to be a child in the ZA.
  • I actually think her tone adds to it, honestly. She's a very depressed kid at this point. I think she did a very good job of delivering that without making it sound like there's simply no emotion to it at all - just listen to the way her voice sort of quivers when she's talking to Kenny about Omid. She has a very cold exterior right now, but she lets something through every now and again that makes it feel pretty authentic.

Also got to give her credit for having such a range. Her transition from younger Clementine to older Clementine was pretty damn good.
  • I thought her voice acting was good, it shows resemblance to her voice in Season 1, while sounding just a bit older.
  • I think she's delivering the lines about as well as can be expected given the context. She can't very well say serious dialogue in a happy and childlike tone. They pretty much require a dead serious voice, especially given all that she's been through up until this point.
  • Somehow I doubt she was instructed to keep it monotone while everyone else was allowed to run wild.

  • The only time it sounded wierd was when she said, I think you're right in episode 3. It sounded like a grown up...

Melissa does a great job at voicing Clem.

EDIT: Just as a side note, she also voices a character in TWAU, and also BTTF. :) She's really talented (and pretty)
  • She also (like us) has hope that Clementine won't die. :D

  • That's what I also thought in the first episode of this season, but it got better and better with each episode, imo.
  • If she does, we riot. We gotta keep hope.

  • Any fan from every place on Earth will come to the Telltale's headquarters and they won't be happy then.

  • There is nothing wrong with her voice acting, though I did notice something In Harm's Way. Remember the sound Clementine used in A House Divided when struggling to fight off the second walker on the bridge? That exact sound is re-used like two or three times in Harm's Way. They could have at least recorded new sounds.

Yeah, I noticed that too though it doesn't bother me tbh.
