Did this happen to anyone else with Sarah?

At first I didn't like Sarah so much, but then all of the sudden, now I love her. It wasn't even episode 3 that caused it, weeks before episode 3 even came out I started realizing I love Sarah. And, at first Sarah looked a little goofy to me, but now I'm realizing that she really is pretty. I just don't know where this came from, why I just suddenly started realizing everything about Sarah and it just suddenly hit me that I love her. I love her almost as much as I love Clem, that's a big almost, but I even had a dream about Sarah and I never have dreams about people unless they really affect me!

Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone started realizing how much they love Sarah when previously they didn't care so much about her? Surely I can't be the only one.

  • I didn't like the cabin survivors that much at first, but over the episodes I started to like them. The only exception is Sarah. She was weird and unlikable in Episode 1, she was annoying in Episode 2, she was extremely annoying in Episode 3. I really hope she changes or I'll have to wish death upon her. Or she could just remain lost forever so I wouldn't have to deal with her anymore.
  • I guess we just had to warm up to them

  • I wonder what Carlos would say if he knew that she annoyed so many people lol.

  • Lol I don't dream about her but yeah, when playing E3 I've started to like her. I actually almost ended up crying for her, when she was in the greenhouse thinking about how her dad hit her. I don't know why, I didn't even cry over Kenny's beating yet I cryed over that! What is this!? I have betrayed you Kenny...
  • I was shocked that I had a dream about her, I think it was because of when Clem offered her a hug, because in the dream I was just hugging Sarah lol. When Carlos hit her I wanted to jump through the screen and help her up, poor Sarah :(

  • I can imagine a scene in episode 4 where Clem finds Sarah, she is crying and one of the options is to hug her and Clem hugs her, scaring her at first and will be surprised that Clem actually cares about her.

  • Reminds me of the face Sarah made in the greenhouse if Clem helps her, like a 'wow she cares about me' kind of face.

I never disliked Sarah. I didn't appreciate her putting pressure on Clementine to promise to be friends when they first met, but since then Sarah has proven to be a true friend. She's far from perfect and her actions sometimes jeopardize herself and/or others, but that's to be expected from a girl who was sheltered from reality for so long. Every bit of strife Sarah has felt I have shared with her. The anxiety of Carver's visit, the horror of being held captive and forced to watch her father get tortured in front of her, the heartbreak of her father hitting her, and most recently the life changing tragedy of her dad's death. I love Sarah, and I really appreciate her always being with Clem and making things less lonely and depressing, just as I'm sure Sarah appreciates Clem always being there for her to cheer her up and look after her.
  • Beautifully said. I'm right there with you on everything you wrote. Sarah didn't ask to be sheltered and she didn't ask for the anxiety she suffers, so she shouldn't be held at fault. I love where Clem and Sarah's relationship is going, hopefully their friendship will get even closer, and Sarah is really going to need that after her dad's death. I'm sure Clem will be Sarah's source of comfort, given Clem finds her, which I really hope she will find her.

  • yeah, if anything I appreciate that Sarah's been a friend to Clementine through all this.

  • You know, I honestly want Sarah to survive in this season along with Clem. I really like her as a character, and I hope Telltale won't pull another Duck situation on us with Sarah cause that would be a waste.

  • I liked Sarah straight from the beginning. She is a great character with a big potential. And they handled her PERFECTLY in episode 3.
  • Agreed. I don't think telltale will do that because they seem to be building on her character a lot so it would be a waste of their efforts to pull a Duck with her.

  • I wish I realized it in the beginning. I think the only reason I didn't is because it already takes me a bit of time to warm up to new characters, and then I saw lots of other people calling her annoying and it influenced me so I started looking at it that way. And then when I disagreed with a friend who said Sarah is a pain, it's like I started thinking for myself about Sarah.

  • I think what happened was that originally the way the group acted towards Clementine made players hate them, but a change of circumstance later on caused the group to behave differently. It shows that no one in the group is of a one-track mind or judgmental to a fault. The presence of object A does not make someone happy in every situation to the point where it's an absolute, and I think seeing that attitude toward "object A" change with circumstance b, c, and introduction of objects b and c, helped players humanize the people in the group. Some of the people in the group were easier to warm up to, sure, but there's at least a little common ground to be found with everyone, sooner or later. Between episodes 2 and 3(as in during both), I think that's what happened eventually for all of us.

And I agree. I don't really like Sarah a lot, but I pity her. I can empathize with her being the kind of person she is, in a world that's become a place where the demons of her hell would piss themselves.
  • I hadn't even thought of it that way, thank you for a different view.

  • I didn't have much of an opinion on Sarah to be honest, I was a little disturbed by the whole "we're friends RIGHT?!!!?" thing and how I just KNEW it was going to cause trouble later on.

After episode 2 though, I gradually began to think "hey, you know what she's a pretty great character" in the run up to episode 3. And episode 3 kinda rooted her place as one of my favorite characters. What once was Clem, Nick and Luke is now Clem, Nick, Luke and Sarah.

And just like Nick, i'm going to do whatever I can to protect her.
  • I actually disliked Clem in the beginning; go figure. It wasn't until season 1, episode 2 that I started to warm up to her. And I didn't absolutely fall in love with her character until I made to give her some food as Lee, and she asked me if I was okay when I was going to ask her that. It was so unbelievably adorable, I couldn't understand why I had felt indifferent toward her at first. Lol, to think I had ignored everything she said, choosing to keep silent to any question she asked, in the start. I think, had I not ended up feeling truly like she was my responsibility, I may have been the first person in history to have Clem completely hate them and vice versa.

So I get how you feel about Sarah. Though I must say I find her unbelievably annoying and I don't think I'll warm up to her like I did with Clem. She's useless to me, and I wonder how in the world could she ever survive in a zombie apocalypse alone? Clem can survive, I'm sure of it. But Sarah? Sarah's so sheltered and protected, I would refuse to believe she could make it on her own. It's a stupid notion, and anyone who believes otherwise is crazy.
  • Ben was pretty much useless but he still made it to episode 5. And we have two more episodes left so we will see what will become of Sarah and the rest of the group.

  • I love her, too, but not as much as i love Clem, or Kenny, or Lee, or Nick, or Luke. I just want to protect her. She has a good soul, and i can relate to her, about that one question in episode 3. And i feel like she is just too good to die.
  • I feel the same. I find her much too annoying, sorta like Duck. Though, I did end up warming up to Duck, only for him to be bitten in a horrible plot twist. Maybe, if I'm lucky, they'll pull the same with Sarah.

  • I'm actually mean. I even go so far as to go out of my way to be mean. It all started when she made me promise to be her friend in exchange for helping me. Like, wth? You can't just help me out of the kindness of your heart, when I'm clearly losing a s***load of blood? She even said she was my age, like she was blind or something. That really annoyed me.

My favorite part was purposely putting up a star, even though she wanted an angel. I didn't know it would matter on the game, but it was for my own delight; interesting enough, she noticed.

I get what you mean. Maybe it was just the fact she had a right to be upset this episode. The nice back and forth in the beginning. I kind of just accepted that she's gonna annoy me anyway so I may as well be nice.

  • Like people get the Lee and Clementine syndrome, where they feel they HAVE to protect Clem as Lee, you've got it like Nick where you feel like you Have to protect Sarah. It's a syndrome you only pick up playing a Telltale series. I nearly ended up with a Bigby and Snow syndrome, but I saved myself by being a total jerk to her instead. :>

  • I thought she was a little strange in the first episode, but the second and third are really showing us who she really is. The scene where you teach her how to shoot a gun was quite interesting as well as a beautiful throwback to season 1. In episode 3 I felt so horrible for her when her father had to hit her, causing her to shut down emotionally. Her final scene in the herd was heartbreaking. Her screams of terror will haunt me forever, just like Sarita's... *Shiver*
  • Oh!, I getcha.
The game certainly pushes you towards it. I promised Pete and Luke that i'd protect Nick and promised Carlos i'd protect Sarah. I know they are fictional, but I like to play as If i'm Clementine and develop her as the character I think she should be.

  • Yes, but Ben still died. In all honesty, I liked Ben from the start. I liked to think I would be fidgety in the zombie apocalypse, too. Though, I'm sure I'd survive fairly better than him. Besides, you could've killed Ben off way sooner, if you wanted. I only saved him to pee Kenny off, since Kenny was a fickle, fake friend. Hopefully, a similar situation will be available for Sarah. If you like her, you can save her from like a horde or something. If you don't, you can let her die. That way, it'd be the best of both worlds for the people who like her, and those who dislike her, like me.
