Why different writers?

The other day, I was thinking about how people were complaining with certain things about the episodes (plotholes, character development, etc.). What I was thinking was why is there a different writer(s) for each episode? I feel as though the story for each episode would be more consistent (since different writers might have different interpretations for certain things).

  • I agree, but that's just the way Telltale likes it. It's like asking why they're doing the game on episodic form, it's they're call i guess.
  • I'm still not entirely sure why this happens, but it's not limited to just Telltale.

There is always a single individual who comes up the story concept, and he might have a writing team to help him. Having that person write for every single instalment of the franchise is just too much for one person. There's a lead writer, who's in charge of what happens from beginning to end, and there are other writers who write for single episodes.
  • The fact is that Robert Kirkman was the one supervising the first season, it was just one episode - one writer sort of thing most of the time but it had to be approved first and be consistent.
In the second season I get the feeling that it's more like "hop-in, hop-off give us some zombies and violence who cares about the plot anyways" sort of writing and we can see the effects now...
How they really do it, I don't know, maybe they've simply run out of good ideas for this universe. Time will tell(tale)

  • they did it in season 1 and season 1 was amazing, different writers doesn't have to do with the consistency of the story all that much

Well they do this often with TV shows, with most episodes being written by someone else. Though they usually write them all at once.
  • Season 1 was fine, it's season 2 I'm talking about (sorry about the confusion there).

  • Most of the writers are the same in-between Season 1 and Season 2.
  • It's quite funny: with episode one and two of this season, loads of people were complaining about how awful they think Nick Breckon is and that we should get a new one.

Now we get a new one, and they scream 'why don't they keep it the same, give us Nick backkkkk'.

It's entertaining to see. Worrying to consider.
  • I thought everyone were like how Breckin was awesome???

  • I would assume the writers need breaks, so they hand the pen to others because of that.
  • Nope, not at all.

  • The head writer decides the outline, but he doesn't execute the plot for every single episode.
