Clementine's Parents vs. Lee Everett

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
I mean why? Why are you still comparing her parents over Lee? I'm seeing a lot of comments about this kind of stuff and thaaangss. One group thinks Clementine should change her last name to ''Everett'' the other thinks that's so awful thing to do to her parents. You know what the truth is; Clementine loves Lee like she loves her parents. Her love is balanced. Lee was her family too. Lee saw Clementine as his daughter like he never had while Clementine sees Lee as her Apocalypse Father/Mentor/Guardian. This is not the time of arguing about who must be the one unforgettable person for Clementine. BOTH OF COURSE!!! Being a family it's not about blood bond. It's about how much of that person means so much to you. What do you guys or girls think about this?

Comments

  • I absolutely agree.
She definately loves them equally. Lee was as much of a parent to her as her biological parents.
And I just want to point out that I never said she should offically change her name to Everett, just that it might be a nice moment if the player has the choice to answer Clementine Everett at some point - not because she doesn't love her parents, but because she loves Lee as much as she loves her parents.

Is their proof that Clem loved Lee just as much as her parents?

These kind of comments make me lol.. how the fuck does one prove love? It's just there.

This is what the whole damn first season was about. I'm baffled that some people seem to have missed this.

Clem was raised by her parents for almost nine years.

Clem knew Lee for a few months.

But to be honest whilst Clem might miss/care for them both she's become so hardened by the apocalypse I don't really think she allows herself such distractions much anymore.
  • I still fail to see how the amount of time they were together is relevant to how much she loves him.

    * She picked Lee's photo with her when Lee told her in the drugstore to find some strong thing for closing the door.

    * She kept Lee's photo with her 2 years.

    * She hugs him so much. :D

    * She never lets Lee swear. Even if he did she warns him.

    * Lee is the reason she keeps her hair short.

    * I think before wearing the warm puffy rainbow clothes, her clothing style looks like Lee's?

So yeah. She loves Lee as much as she loves her parents. But I think one thing differently, Lee is Clementine's role model/idol.

  • Hey, you were the one who played Season One also right? If you want proof, then play the game again. Jeez...

  • I disagree. Words are not necessarily true.
If there is one thing that "proves" love (I still think this phrase is ridiculous), it actions. Lee's actions for Clementine and vice versa. As Dark_Star, simply the fact that she kept Lee's photo for almost 2 years, should be "proof" that she loves him.

  • Nine years is a long time.

But I don't exactly think Clem is pairing them off against each other in her head either.

  • * She didn't have her parents photo. Being a kid you don't think about taking a photo of your family right before you leave.
    * So? she cared for Lee end off.
    * She hugs a lot of people
    * OMG she must be lee in disguse :O

  • Obviously she loves her parents to be willing to go around looking for them. Lee just a stand in. No one can replace a loving father and mother. In all honest you can replace Lee with anyone and still get close to them but her parents will always be her parents.
  • She loves them equally, but that doesn't mean she thinks Lee was her dad.

I do not disagree with you? I just wanted you to put proof down as people would like to see your point

  • The problem is we know nothing about her parents but we all know and love Lee. So people just assume Clem feels the same way.

I'm sure she loves both Lee and her parents but in a different way and neither can take each other's place. When Carver asks what her dad's name is she says Ed not Lee, and of course the fact that she cherishes her hat so much is proof that she hasn't forgotten about her parents.

I'm not saying Lee replaced her parents. Did you read my discussion carefully? I'm saying it's pointless to argue about this versus thing about between her parents and Lee. BOTH is valuable for her.

  • I wasn't answering you sir, I was talking about people that think clem loved lee more. In fact i agree wtih what you said that she thinks both are valuable for her.

Of course not. He was her Apocalypse Dad :D

    You know one thing still chases me is that dialouge in ''Starved For Help'' after finding Clementine's hat. She asks you;

Clementine: ''Hey Lee, do you think you'll ever have kids?''

Lee: ''I'd like to someday. Maybe a little girl like you.''

Clementine: ''That's nice. You'd be a good daddy.''

I mean that's just a little thing and it's not the proof about she sees Lee as her father. But that little thing is means something I think.

  • Why not have her original last name as her middle name and have Everett as her last name?
  • OMG thank you. (No sarcasm) Finally we find the solution. MODERATOR! SHUT THIS DISCUSSION DOWN! NOW!

  • Or maybe we could have her be called, For example her last name is Johnson, Clementine Johnson-Everett

Btw was this discussion inspired by my one, The one titled, 'Clementine Everett'

  • I completely agree with you. Both her parents and Lee did similar things and were both equally loved by Clementine.
  • I know right? I can't believe that someone actually comparing both. Was that even necessary?

  • Question is how they would have handled the ZA with her instead of Lee. Similar Scenario like Carlos/Sarah?
  • (Luke's Voice) Probably.
