A biology question

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
So,I finally played the episode and I don't know if there were threads about this, but in the last scene where you cut Sarita's arm, don't you use the same weapon you used to kill the zombie seconds ago?So the weapon should still have wet blood on it,thus infecting Sarita?
What do you think?

  • And you use the same weapon to open the walker. So it will probably infect Sarita if you cut her arm off. She's probably gonna die no matter what you do.
  • Of course she's going to die,she is a determinant character,so she won't be around much.Nick barely made his presence felt in episode 3.

  • I think she is going to die right at the begining of episode 4 if you cut her arm off, beacuse she screams and attracts walkers. If you kill the walker she doesn't scream and Kenny gets to say a proper goodbye,I think...

I don't want to be rude. But the answers to your question, plus a hell of a lot speculating can be found within this thread http://www(.)telltalegames.com/community/discussion/70812/i-don039t-understand-the-039infection039-mechanism

Hahaha Nick in Episode 3 was just passing through, it was sad that he didn't get any development on his character.

  • I don't think the question has much to do with biology, more of how the writers/creators for TWD think of the syndrome.

A virus can be transmitted in many diffrent ways, so it doesn't have to infect her. But if you go by the comic/show it's a very big chance that it will indeed infect her.
  • The blood that would be draining out her arm would carry the infected blood out of the area.

Honestly if walker blood is so contagious, I don't understand how more people aren't getting killed from it. I mean come on, last episode the entire group was going through walker guts with their bare hands like it was a non issue.
  • Honestly I don't think it will, and I say this because Clementine yanked a knife out of a zombie's arm, wiped it off, and then used it to open a can of beans and ate some of it. By that logic Clementine should be infected, or even moreso, known enough in the years she's been living through this to not do that in the first place.

I think zombie fluids are gross but it's the bite. Like.. they smeared walker guts on their faces with no problem. It's totally easy for something to get in your eyes/mouth/nose/ears that way.

I just don't think the blood is an issue.
  • The blood is not what gets you infected in the Walking Dead. Hasn't happened in the comics so far, I think.
  • I asked this before too but with Clem. If sarita dies from the blood of walker then Clem should too for eating beans that was stabbed with bloody knife.
