Cliffhangers vs Closure

What ending to an Episode do you like more? Cliffhangers (Quick and filled with questions) or simple closure? Each of them works when used right, but too many cliffhangers can be a bad thing. Even if some episodes are necessarily tense at the end, it doesn't mean it's a cliffhanger. It's a cliffhanger if it stops in the middle of something; usually a bad time.

Episodes That Used Cliffhangers
-Around Every Corner
-No Time Left
-Faith
-All That Remains
-Smoke & Mirrors
-In Harm's Way

Episodes That Used Closure
-A New Day
-Starved for Help
-Long Road Ahead
-A House Divided
-A Crooked Mile

What's better to you? Closure or cliffhangers? I for one like closure much better. Cliffhangers can feel people angry and empty for no apparent reason. Episodes with closure always are much more rounded episodes to me (And feel longer too).

  • cliffhangers, get's me more excited for the next episode, but on season finales i would like closure
  • I like cliffhangers more. As 104, 201, and 105 are some of my favorite episodes, I can say a cliffhanger makes the wait feel much more exciting for me, personally.
  • A House Divided felt more like a cliffhanger than closure, but I prefer cliffhangers any day.
  • cliff hangers for sure. I Think it help with the wait, in a way. it gives us SOMEHING to talk about.

I hop these a cliff hanger for 205, because if there is that means there will be a season 3.
  • Those cliffhangers work like a charm. The ones used by TellTale are well-placed and makes me want to buy the next episode... even though the time for each release feels like 400 days later...
  • I don't know why, but I consider it closure. I mean, I KNOW where it's going and that we were going to Carver's camp. Usually, the death or loss of someone determines it as a cliffhanger.

    Nice...picture....by the way.

  • Why not have both?
  • I don't know that it matters to me in the end. My favorite episodes end on cliffhangers, but so do my least favorites. And I like all the closure episodes but they're not my favorites. What does this mean?
  • I mean, cliffhangers hurt my sanity, but they are great for hype.
  • I truly believe that almost every episode ended in a cliffhanger . . . after Episode 5 Season 1, no one knew who Clem saw in the fields. And that Episode had the ending that would have been considered a "closure." The most recent episode is more closure than cliffhanger. Regardless, I prefer a mix of the both. Which sounds like a really bad answer but let me explain quickly. I sometimes hate the show Walking Dead because it seems they all end with more questions than answers. Cliffhangers are awesome if they are done in appropriate timeliness. I liked the end of Episode 5 in Season 1 because it had closure but also a good deal of cliffhanger.
  • Exactly. The first three Episodes of TWDG are to me prime examples of enough closure and cliffhanger

  • Cliffhangers.. They tend to end off an episode while you're still excited and can get you hyped for the next episode. Closure is more like ending off the episode with that episode's plot. Both are good, A New Day and A Crooked Mile both had awesome closure.
  • I like the sense of foreboding in 'closure' episodes... Like at the motel in 'A New Day' when Lily said something along the lines of 'I think the worst is behind us' followed by the blackout. Made me equally excited for the next episode, as any cliffhanger would.
