Why are people so mad at TT?

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
They're trying to do their best! And you people still complain about short episodes, lack of hubs,...

What the FUCK is wrong with you? Season 2 is awesome. I like its story, characters. I like how the story moved outside from cities. I'll go that far that I'll say season 2 is even better for me than S1.

They're small company. What do you except they could do? Mass Effect-like game placed in zombie apocalypse world?

Shut up and enjoy the game.

  • They're not trying their best though? Look back at S1 and you'll know that. They've grown over the year meaning that the quality shouldn't effect the quantity now.
  • Here we go again... Huh ill just say these 2 things..
    Season 1
    2-2.5 hour episodes

I'm not mad, and we still have the right to express our opinions. And I really like the season so far, but it just seems they could've done better with the huge income they got from season 1. All I'm asking is for longer episodes.
  • Season 2 doesn't have enough Nick therefor it sucks.

And what? This is not season 1. Play time was lonher because of hubs which I hated, too. I play TWD because of story, not for walkin' around and searching for... things.

1,5 hours x 5 episodes = 7,5 hours. Isn't it enough for you for 20€? Look at Call of Duty. You pay 60€ and get only 5 hours long singleplayer.

  • What's wrong with you? Why do you talk only about Nick?

  • Hey, OP, how about a right to complain about a product? We're all here (I think so, at least) paying customers, and it's our right to complain about the quality of the final product we get.

I like Season 2, might even more so than Season 1, but it's clear to me that Telltale is going the wrong direction.

"Shut up and enjoy the game"? There are so many things wrong with that statement. Smaller companies like TellTale who want to grow into a bigger company and compete with the top dogs should be taking advice and listening to concerns from their customers. Listening to us will make their games much better and enjoyable, but they're not doing that. And this results in rushed 90 minute episodes AFTER many of us complained about the length of episodes 1 and maybe episode 2(even though episode 2 didn't need to be any longer considering how much shit went down.) We also complained about bad character development and many of us want hubs in the game like in season 1, which made it much more immersive. If TellTale just listened to their customers, maybe, just MAYBE, we could get some longer episodes with some of the things that we want to see in the game. But we all know that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Edit: And by the way, TellTale is stretching themselves to thin here by trying to work on 4 games at one time. They need a reality check. You can thumb me down all you want but their games will all suffer in quality if they keep doing this.

dunno man i think it has something to do with taking 2 and a half month to make 80 minutes of cutscenes and 10 minutes of gameplay.

    "No way!"
  • Yeah, but let's face it: People play Call Of Duty for the multiplayer.

Nevertheless, like you, I really don't care about these so-called "fuck ups" in Season Two. In fact, I'd say that to me (TO ME), the hubs are the WEAKEST part of Season One.

  • But I actually like these "cutscenes". I consider TWD as an interactive movie. I like talking parts more than shooting even in Mass Effect.

  • I don't know if you noticed, but this game doesn't really revolve around your typical gameplay, but the cutscenes pretty much ARE the gameplay in a sense. I agree that we should have more time to just walk around and explore the world and talk to people though.

Season 2 IS better then Season 1....
The characters are awesome and i like the overall theme of Season 2 alot more,
I just wish they had more hubs thats all...
An easy way to do that could be just whenever there is a clem walking animation, have us do the manual walking...and make a few clickable places to see what clementine says/does...
For example in Episode 1 they did a good job with that....while clementine was walking in the forest by herself

I am not mad, I am disappointed.

In all seriousness, though, to me it seems that Telltale is not utilizing their characters and being creative with the plot as they could. In season 1 I was really attached to the characters and very emotionally invested. Compare that to season 2, where everything seems to be missed potential for something great. The cabin group actually had the potential to be just as or even more interesting than the season 1 group, but there has been such a lack of character development and inconsistency that it is harder to care about them.

Plus lack of interaction/choices that matter- I don't need hugely branching narrative to be satisfied. But in Season 1, many characters had a completely different relationship with you depending on your choices. In season 2 they don't even have a different line in dialogue to acknowledge how you treat them. And now that we are already more than half way through the season it seems a little late.

I could go on but in short, the quality/depth of the writing in comparison to season 1 seems to have gone down and it's very frustrating since there is so much potential.

    edit for adding more ranting
  • So? You think people who don't want to pay for the game will just stop because "it's not easy"? I don't think so.

  • Dude that is the STUPIDEST comparison ever who in their right mind buys a Call of Duty game just to play its Single Player story. The game HAS a multiplayer and 95% of people who buy that game go straight into multiplayer because one thing you learn after playing CoD for a while is that you don't want to let people get an advantage over you. We really gotta stop with this BS of "OMG STOP COMPLAINING THAT THE EPISODE ARE SHORT" but you know what they don't give a fuck anymore they already got their checks we who bought the Season Pass we got bitch slapped and as for those of you that are waiting for the GoT and Tales From the Borderlands then good luck to you I wouldn't be surprised if they made the episodes 1 hour long because that's what Gaming Corporation have come to that they can throw you a bone and you will kill for it.

  • It was a good way to immerse yourself into TWD world. why are people so fucking stupid now? asking dumb questions like this so what so there shouldn't be fucking open world games and you shouldn't be allowed to explore the world that you're in. Well clap it up people THIS is the future of gaming where we get half assed shit cuz people wanna give multiple get out of jail free cards.

  • Oh no! They took your money and you got what you paid for?! Quick, sound the alarm! Call 911, call the FBI! The world deserves to know that this poor soul got his money taken from him by some EVIL game company! Make sure you tell everyone else who's going to buy the other two games! We must save them from this travesty of 450 minutes of content at the mere price of $20-$25!

Look, it's your own fault that you paid for the game. If they gave you little to nothing after you've paid for their games, THEN you can say you got slapped in the face. But good God, you make it sound like they scammed you or something.

"So I guess your fav parts of Season 1 were walking around the train and walking around Crawford?"

Starved for help didn't have the types of scenarios you're referring to and that was a good length. Personally I enjoyed the train sequence in season 1. That was one of the best scenes. It had the party where Lee taught Clem to shoot and Chuck's speech. The build up to those moments made them better than they would have been if they had gone straight to them from cut scenes as they have mostly been doing in season 2. Just saying.

So I guess your fav parts of Season 1 were walking around the train and walking around Crawford?

  • What do you expect for a $20 dollar game, 30hrs of gameplay, Cant you enjoy anything, you guys act like its a bad game with short episodes. It being so good makes up for the length

  • Nobody's asking for 30 hours. All I've seen, and personally expressed, is a desire for a return to S1 lengths of 2-2.5 hour episodes. Which were not only longer, but better on both gameplay and character development than what we've seen of S2 so far.

  • You get a lot of downvotes, but I think it would be personally legitimate to pay them a bit more... 30/35 dollars for a subscription (it's harder I think for a subscription game than a full release)... If they explained it well enough, I think they'd get off with posting a kickstarter campaign or something like that...
