Which is the best episode from a story aspect?

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
For me it has to be Starved for help. There were almost zero plot holes(If there are, it must have slipped past me), character development is incredible(Kenny, Lily, St johns, Larry, Clementine, even Katjaa). Each character played a role in some way.
I would have put A House Divided, but the plot holes, one dimentional characters are holding it back and Clementine does everything. If choose your choose your episode, please give your reasons. Also, Long road ahead almost stood a chance for me, but the train part and backtracking is what ruined it for me.

No Time Left, for being powerful as fuck from start to finish. The conversations on the rooftop, in the attic, Kenny's scenes, the Stranger conversation, the final moments with Lee and Clem...literally everything was poignant, powerful and beautifully done.
  • episode 4, it tells probably the biggest story out of any episode and has the most mystery aspect to it (crawford what happened to it, findin them boats)
  • I'd honestly pick s1e3, Long Road Ahead. They off characters that have been with us since the beginning and introduce fresh, new blood and the characters that stay go through huge changes. Kenny is now dealing with the death of his family and is now much more depressed, irritable, and only focuses on his original plan. Ben goes through the guilt and depression of being the reason why he got everyone kicked out of the motor inn and got Doug/Carley, Duck, and Katjaa killed and lost Lily. Clementine is now much more capable with her new hairstyle, ability to use a gun, and a plan for what she and lee does when they get to Savannah and is more motivated to help Lee out. And of the new characters, we got Chuck; a friendly man who lived on the train and offers advice to Lee & co and a young couple, Omid and Christa, who tag along with the group to help replace the ones lost earlier in the episode.
  • I agree with SergeantSnookie. The last episode of season 1, powerful as fuck.
  • Long road ahead is my favourite episode
  • BOATZ N HOEZ.

  • Episode 5, best episode ever.
  • I second this. It was so damn memorable for so many reasons. I wonder if the last episode of this season will be just as memorable? I hope so.

  • As a writer myself, I would choose A New Day. Seting up characters, showing their backstory and beginning the character development and create the main plot is a hell of a thing to do, and Telltale's writers did it almost flawlessly.

As a gamer, I'd choose A House Divided or Starved From Help, both episodes has this different taste that is difficult to explain
  • That'd be quite the feat.

  • This. *A New Day* is clunky and awkward at times, and it shows on replays, but it gave the season one hell of a foundation, IMO.

And also agree on the second one.

I never got one part straight. Did the St Johns plan on keeping the group as meat from the beginning, or were they going to seal the deal, let them out of the dairy, and maybe cut a more long term deal in exchange for fuel? I ask because if they were planning on the latter, it was *batteries* level stupid, to me. What were they going to say when the group asked about Mark?

Anyway, from a story aspect, the premiere and the finale are the ones I see as more important.
  • S01E05
    S01E02
    S02E01

those were strongest for me. I know that many pople also kinda loved ep 3 in season 1 as it was you know... lots of loses and Clem got her training started.

Any episode from season one. Was more attention to detail and character back story that added to the main story..dor example in season one what do we know about some of the characters? Lee was a teacher, kenny a fisherman, kat a vet, carley, reporter, lilly, air force...et. Etc.. In season two what do you know? Luke and nick are two farm boys yippie!
