Bonnie as Clementine's guardian

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
Anyone else open to this idea? I think Bonnie seems to be the first female who had bond with Clementine (unless if you count Katjaa in).

  • I don't think so
  • Bonnie seems to be a character whose values are moulded on the kindness she received whilst battling her addictions. She's a little naïve, in my estimations, but I think she'll have a natural propensity towards treating Clementine more as a child than the others in the group will.
  • I like Christa-Clem relationship before Omid got killed, but obviously they are strained after the tragedy.

    Christa?

  • I'd say Christa formed a stronger bond with Clementine than the other women of Season 1. She was immediately invested in Clem's survival. I think that's what makes their strained relationship after Omid's death all the more heartbreaking.

    Christa?

  • I want Clem to have a feminine female figure in her life with mother or big sister instinct. In which I don't see in Jane and even Rebekah at the moment.

  • I have a feeling that Jane is going to slowly be unveiled as a cold she-wolf that Clem will eventually clash with or be let down by. Rebecca's just another one that will heavily rely on Clem.

Bonnie has a redemptive vibe and, like Lee before her, could probably view caring for Clementine as a means to that end.

Still, I do think that Christa would be better in taking care of Clementine.
She did it for years already and even month after Omid got killed.

  • I think i'd eventually get sick of Bonnie if she was Clem's guardian.
  • Bonnie is really sweet and I appreciate the affection and protective nature she's shown towards Clementine so far, but she wouldn't be the first female guardian, we had Christa, and with 16+ months of caring for Clem despite heavily resenting her and being in great mourning I think she deserves SOME recognition.
  • Christa's tougher and more self-sufficient than Bonnie, who seems to overly rely on the stability of being in a group. In regards to her relationship with Clementine, they'd probably be tighter now that Clementine has experienced a greater deal on her own and honed her survival skills. Perhaps what also contributed to Christa's somewhat stoic attitude was the wear and tear of taking care of her.

  • No. She's betrayed my trust, and she'll never get it back. I may be her friend, but she will never be more than a friend.

    Clementine is Bonnia's guardian.

And when/if Christa comes back for that matter. Clementine would also be Christa's guardian.

Sorry, but now that's become my natural reaction to any "X is clementine's guardian", I will always reply with "Clementine is X's guardian"

Edit: Except maybe juicebox. Juicebox is Clementine's guardian.
  • If anyone is Clem's 'guardian' it would be Kenny at the moment. Like others have said, even Christa was a very good one to her. I like Bonnie, but I think her sense of self-preservation far outweighs the selflessness needed for such a role.
  • Actually, I think this is more accurate. Bonnie might display signs of genuine affection for Clementine as a child, but perhaps lacks the maturity and altruism required of a true guardian figure to appropriate the role.

Something we should also consider is the growing independence of Clementine. She's a completely different girl from between All That Remains and In Harm's Way. If anything, Clementine may have outgrown the need for a guardian - or, at least, this is the general direction of Season 2's story.

  • Ah, dislikes...my worst enemies.

  • Juicebox is everyone's guardian. The bond him and Alvin shared was that equivalent to Lee and Clem. Alvin was juicebox's padowan.

  • you know... I was thinking about hits yester day in school.

I don't think I would mind, it look like bonnie does care for clementine ALOT! So I could see bonnie treating her kind of like her daughter. And bonnie is nice. What if bonnie and luke started dating and then they kind of "adopted" clementine as there daughter! I don know how I would feel about that. I mean I trust them both but... I don't think id complain about it.

    How old is bonnie anyway?
