Confide Thread about Clem
These " people " believe that Ellie, Elizabeth, Lara Croft and Femshep are better than Clem ...
Ok , they are opinions , everyone sees it as he wishes ...
But if you then come and say that Clem sucks, that is not a good character, who does not deserve recognition , then then it makes you think that people really do not understand anything !
If you read the comments on that IGN Playing Dead Clem talks about how it might be "the best female character in the videogame " you put your hands in the hair of what they write : Ellie , Femshep , Elizabeth and Lara Croft are much better than Clem them .... How can you say that?
These characters are not as deep as Clem characters ... I'm just the facts " on purpose " , think about it : they are always "sexy" , strong, without any facet ... it is absurd to think that the real work of great writers that are applied to create something like Clem is not respected ...
In my opinion Clem is really "the best female character in the videogame " , but honestly it bothers me that they speak so Clem .
I may have exaggerated, but it seems right . What do you think ?

Femshep: Doesn't count, because you can choose genders. Why not add Villager from Animal crossing, the tactician from Fire Emblem, all Fallout and Elder Scrolls protagonists and... You know what, you get the point. Mass Effect is an RPG. You CREATE a character and make it as good you want it to be.
Elizabeth: An invincible non-element that throws crap at you? How can you not love her.....? Also, how does she have better social skills than Booker when she was basically quarantined in a tower for her ENTIRE LIFE.
Lara Croft: Badass, vulnerable, whatever. You're basically a mass murderer who really goes out of her to way to save her friends, like really, I think she kills a God or something. What the hell is up with this game. The transition from something to supposed survivor is incredibly jarring.
Ellie: TLOU is a generic cross between Walking Dead and the movie Children of Men so it's not even worth bringing up.
"Oh, she's a lesbian that makes her deep herp derp" Yeah, this certainly wasn't a publicity stunt by Naughty Dog or something to sell more copies.
Elizabeth: dresses hot and can reshape the universe at her own will
Lara Croft: dresses hot, dual wields pistols/smgs and shoots everything while doing super duper triple backflips
The IGN audience is the call of duty audience, now you know why they like those characters more.
I am yet to see someone say they play Mass Effect because Shepard is such an 'interesting, complex' character. Especially when he/she is constantly being overshadowed by the rest of ME's cast that is actually interesting.
Sorry. Ranting.
I like Ellie and Elizabeth but when it comes to character depth, Clementine wins...no question about it.
Aside from her, I'd say Clementine can be judged as an equal to the fellow female titans in video games. Ellie has a natural modernism and FemShep, thanks to Jennifer Hale's stellar talents, pretty much feels like the real Commander Shepard, but what gives Clementine the edge is her youth. No other child character has incurred the cultural impact she has in the medium of video games. You also have to take into account that the first season of The Walking Dead was such an unprecedented success, a colossal achievement that couldn't have been predicted, and look at everything its set in motion for the graphic adventure genre. I'm not solely placing all this on the shoulders of Clementine, but the fact her character went over with millions of people certainly has to be a contributing factor.
Ultimately, it's what Clementine inspires the gamer to feel that makes her a wonderful creation.
Clem wins, bitches.
*EDIT*
To explain... I don't dislike Ellie or Lara, but neither of them deserve this award of being the best female character.
I really liked the concept behind Ellie's creation (a kid being born into the apocalypse). Come on let's face it, we never seen this before. And Ellie was pretty cool. She's brave, tough, smart, quirky, resourceful, and she can be funny. Honestly, she can get a bit annoying at times. Like when after Joel kills the runners in the gym, she says, "I fucking hate those things!" or when there in the sewers and you hear her shout, "Fucking thing." I know this isn't really a big deal for Ellie's character but whenever she feels the need to speak out loud how much she hates the infected, it's funny at first but it gets old fast.
My other problem with Ellie is that unlike Clementine, and even Joel, she doesn't really have a character arc going on. Joel feels if he gets too attached to her, it will be just like Sarah all over again. But he decides at the last minute that he owes Ellie a proper and reliable escort to the Fireflies after she tells him she feels safer with him. So in turn, Joel feels closer to Ellie and he overcomes his own inner conflict with getting too attached to her.
Ellie didn't really have that. Sure, she felt upset when she realized that Joel only saw as a FedEx package he had to deliver to the Fireflies, but that's resolved in like 10 minutes, making the scene almost pointless if Joel had just taken Ellie to the Fireflies himself after seeing Tommy. It's like her only goal was just stay alive.
I will admit that she really came through in the Winter chapter when she was taking care of Joel, but again, the goal was to stay alive. Nothing else. Not a BIG problem, but an arc is something that a character with this kind of concept should have to make him/her as memorable as they could've been.
This is where Clementine shines. She's a lot like Ellie in way that makes her likeable, but unlike her, I've never got annoyed with her...at all. She's funny, she can get scared, she asks difficult questions, she plays pranks with Duck, she takes matters into her own hands. Guess what? THOSE ARE KIDS. I've been waiting so long for a company other than Disney to do kid characters justice, and Telltale fucking nailed with Clementine.
She has her own goal of getting to her parents, but they conflicted with Lee keeping her safe. Then she decides to take matters to her own hands and leave him for a man who claims to have found them. As much as I hate Clementine for doing this, it really suited her character and it really made the story so memorable and so original. She then overcomes her own conflict when she realizes that she made a mistake when she went on her own and when she finds out that Lee got bit trying to save her.
The fact that The Walking Dead is a heavy character-driven story, it gives many characters a chance to shine and really leave quite the impression on you. Clementine is certainly NO exception, and Season Two is just making her a greater character. Ellie had a second chance in Left Behind, but it just didn't work out that well.
Clementine is assuredly one of the best if not the best female characters in video games, but the fact that you believe this doesn't mean you have to bag on other people's opinions, degrading amazing, badass characters like Ellie and Elizabeth and trash talking their fanbases- that makes you no better than the people you profess to hate. Elizabeth is far more than a pretty face, as anyone who has played Infinite or Burial at Sea would know, and Ellie is one of the most realistic characters that I've ever seen; her story, particularly in Left Behind, resonates in a way that rocked me emotionally to the core- how dare some of you call the DLC a "publicity stunt" based on her feelings for Riley.
You make me sick, and you make me disappointed in this fanbase. I thought we were above arbitrarily degrading and grouping people (IGN readers are all COD junkie idiots, everyone who liked TLOU is a stupid Playstation fanboy), and making BS claims like "TWD is 10X better than TLOU". I thought we were better than this, that we were above this kind of bigotry and ignorance, but apparently, some of us aren't.
But I just prefer The Walking Dead over The Last of Us/Bioshock, it's just my personal preference.
TWDG isn't flawless.
TLOU isn't flawless.
Tomb Raider isn't flawless.
But it's ok to have preferences, even if sometimes my preferences seem like 'forced opinions', but believe me, that's not my intention.
Jesus, are you fucking kidding me.
There. Happy? There was no need for what you said.
Femshep- i don't like Jennifer hale. She is in everything, Every time i would play a game i would keep thinking of METAL GEAR!
Ellie was pretty boring to be honest. I felt the Sarah (joel's daughter) character was a better voice actress than Ellie, there was just more depth in her voice. The whole game was pretty much you babysitting her, it felt like Resident evil 4 babysitting whatever her name was.
Elizabeth- I hated this character with a passion. I couldn't take the Disney persona for five minutes. It made me sick to my stomach how sweet she was, it was like i was in a casting for Beauty and the Beast. When she starts dancing, i was like yeah i 'm done. Bioshock 3 sucks.
Clementine! Everybody likes Clementine, other than them recycling the sounds from the game. In my opinion it is far superior to most games out there today. Well until Watchdogs comes out, but that is a totally different beast.
On this one however ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVFBh3Gj3iI ) Clem's second on the list of most bad ass female characters -beat by Ellie, which I can't really understand, though I do like Ellie-... so there's some credibility there, but it's not a very well known countdown, which is a bit saddening, but hopefully it'll get there...
FemShepard is an unstoppable badass philosopher of sort, which is cool in its own way, but not something I particularly relate to.
Ellie was a character crafted after (besides Ellen Page) Clementine. I think shes awesome because of it (although a bit too wise cracking at times.)
Lara Croft is really just a video game "sex icon." This new Tomb Raider had abysmal character development, nothing like Clementine's though.
And I have never been into Bioshock games, so I'm not sure about Elizabeth.
