The War in Episode 4: Theory
My theory, based off hints, the slide for episode 4, and other unsolved threads from previous episodes, is that there is another group out there that was in competition with Carver; perhaps this group did something to Carver that made him become so cruel to keep his people in line. Bonnie did mention he wasn't always that bad of a guy, so it would be cool if they expanded upon that somewhat.
We have also seen a trail of dead people at the end of episode 1, which is implied to be bandits due to the one who you can choose to give water to and mugged Christa being among them. It is implied Carver killed them, so that would mean to me that they were in a battle with them and Carver was tying up loose ends due to what they did to him. The amount of carnage from that massacre makes it seem like it was more personal than self defense, so I think Carver had a grudge against them.
Some of Carver's group is probably still alive (perhaps Eddie will be with them as an unseen member till this point or a member this new group), with characters from 400 days among them, so I think they will be hunting Clem's group, which may find shelter with this group of bandits after they run into them or they find them. Among them is the guy who nearly died of thirst; he ended up surviving and depending on what you did for him, he may be more accepting of Clem and the others. My hope is that this group is led by Nate; he was way too big a part of 400 days to not appear at this point and Carver's death paved the perfect way for Nate's role as the central villain for the final two episodes. Perhaps Nate did something truly horrible to Carver, which sent Carver over the edge, put him on a vendetta collision course against this group, and would make Nate responsible for everything.
I also think Kenny's mental health may become more of an issue; like what he did or not, the game is heavily implying that he not all there in the head. After losing his wife and son the way he did and what he's been through, who could blame him, but Sarita's thoughts seem to be foreshadowing something. Perhaps Kenny might find companionship with Nate and his crew and Clem will be caught between choosing sides with Carver's remaining group or Nates'; hence why she is between two groups of people and smearing what may be war paint for this battle. Kenny's fate may end up being far more tragic than simply dying; we may end up having no choice but to go against him at some point and Nate's group.
