I know what you mean. Season 2 pales in comparison to the first season. I'm not disappointed with it though since I expected it to.
Being a hardcore walking dead fan I still enjoy playing it because it's a game set in that universe but the writers haven't been able to make me care about the characters in season 2.
Going into episode 4 we barely know them. Omid died way to early since he wasn't really fleshed out in season 1.
Pete was a nice guy but neither clementine or me, the player had any real attachment to the guy since she only knew him for a matter of hours and hadn't really gone through anything big with him like what she had with the drugstore survivors to cause any bond, not to mention the option to go with pete made no sense whatsoever considering clementine saw the walker bite his leg.
The thing that I loved about season 1 was was how real and human the characters felt. They seemed so much more vulnerable and flawed. Clem is more combatant in 3 episodes than Lee was in the entire first season. Clem just seems to have been imortalised to me. She's like an action hero. I mean she could be cast in the next mortal combat or soul caliber game as a bonus character along with kratos, darthvader and Freddie kruger.
All jokes aside the game is fun but it doesn't have the soul and spirit of it's GOTY deserving predecessor.
Okay well you're just intolerant. It's people's opinions, it's neither right or wrong and you commenting on here venting your frustrations does nothing on your behalf rather just prove how immature you are. Just please, if you're going to continue to waste your time just don't be so rude to others. I just hopped on these forums and I'm seeing nothing but rude people everywhere, it's sad.
I'm to cranky. I could easily disprove these points, but I don't want to go on another long-ass rant.
It get's frustrating when people… more say "this season was a disappointment" and then bring up points already disproven previously. Same with Luke hate threads.
1. So? You can't call The Walking Deaf bad because it kills your favorite characters. Also, I'm pretty sure Christa is alive either way.
2. Pure opinion.
3. Carlos never pulled a 180. He slowly grew to liking Clem depending on your decisions. Rebecca pulls a 180. Yes, but she's also pregnant, and she's very prone to mood swings.
4. How is the game forcing us to like Sarah? There's multiple options where you basically tell her to fuck off.
5. Refer to number 1.

There are a few glaring issues with Season 2, that I can't deny. But it's also got some strengths that outweigh the first season.
-- Shorter episodes. The pacing of the first two episodes were nicely done, but that they feel comparatively gameplay light to the first season makes the length feel disappointingly shorter. I've said it once, I'll say it again: the best way to build up Clem's logical and lateral thinking required to be a strong survivor is not only through violence and dialogue options, give us a few more item puzzles.
-- Too many supporting players. Perhaps it's unrealistic of us to desire more development when there are more characters in the gaming WD universe than ever. Some are simply meant to fill out death scenes and that's it. Still, Clementine's new gang still feel a little underscripted and vague in comparison to Lee's group in the first season.
That was the idea. They are supposed to be unlikable at first, because they didn't trust you, at least most of them didn't. It would be bad writing if they were all likable people in that kind of situation.
"Carlos and Rebecca do a 180."
That's because they didn't trust you because they thought you were with Carver. Now that you proved otherwise, they try their best to make amends. Not bad writing, good writing.
"Forcing us to like Sarah, the girl is f+cking useless. I know, some people, in these forums, like her here. But honestly I don't."
They don't force us to like Sarah. They force us to be with her, but not to be nice to her, especially in Episode Three. Don't know where you came up with this.
"All the developed and nice characters die, Omid , Christa , Pete, Nick(again, determinant), Mathew(AND HE WAS MiNOR), Walter."
Yeah, that's how The Walking Dead goes. It's ridiculous that you would associate characters you like dying to bad writing, it's absurd, sorry to say. Not bad writing.
Yes, it is to me. Sue me, I cannot change what I like or not. I have come to accept what it is, however. EDIT: But no, I won't shut up.
> Killing off Omid and Christa
I don't mind them (although Christa may still be alive) dying, but their treatment back in 201 was... disappointing. I get that we are supposed to have played S1 to understand who the hell are these people, but even then, their (re)introduction and send off are unnecessarily abrupt. A couple of more scenes before what happened in the rest of the episode with Clem on her own would have been nice, IMO.
> Carlos and Rebecca do a 180.
It still bothers me. I get that it is an explainable and kind of expected evolution of their characters, but it still feels so... sudden and jarring. I have been able to get past that, lately. What I don't like is that you relationships with them could determinately begin in a more hostile way, even after the shed incident, and they act the same.
What if Carlos does not want you near Sarah? I think that even though he accepts Clem later as a part of the group, some reservation towards them being friends could have arisen, or - if the path is still not going to be altered by your choices even one bit - have him acknowledge that you are not the worst candidate to begin a friendship with Sarah. "You want to be spoonfed!" No, I want them to show a logical reason (within the story, dammit), a sign that shows me this character feels this way now towards my character; and if it is not too much to ask, why.
> Forcing us to like Sarah, the girl is f+cking useless. I know, some people, in these forums, like her here. But honestly I don't.
Sarah could have been written a little more... mature while still being vulnerable and a bit naive, and I think more players could connect with her and care more about her. As it stands, however, they have "forced" us into situations with her, but you have had the options to tell her to shut up, grow up and deny the friendship that she offered you. You can express in game, as Clementine, dislike for Sarah.
> How the f+ck did the Cabin group last so long. I mean, Clementine does everything for them, it doesn't make sense.
The scenarios she's put in have grown more contrived as the season goes on, but really, it is a design dilemma to have a protagoist so young feel involved in the affairs of the group. It could maybe be handled with more creativity, but we need some stuff to do when we are controlling her. I leave the proposal of less contrived scenarios to a more creative mind than mine.
> All the developed and nice characters die, Omid , Christa , Pete, Nick(again, determinant), Mathew(AND HE WAS MiNOR), Walter.
It can feel like it, doesn't it? Well, for what it's worth, I think that *In Harm's Way* balanced that out nicely with its climax. People die, and walkers don't care if their next meal is "good" or "bad", and neither does the script. It was good to see some measure of brutal, cathartic justice.
> Illusion of choice is worse. I know that there was a illusion of choice in season 1, But atleast the characters reacted to it,
Season 2 is awesome, i don't know what you're talking about, the cabin group to be honest i didn't like em at first, but than i strted to like em, beggining with Nick and Rebbecca, but maybe TT did it on purpose and if they did that was awesome.
You want to know what's ironic? Remember when every season one episode opened up with the prompt that "Your choices 'tailor' the story"? In S2, it's very fitting that this prompt is not even shown at *once* given how almost every character's relationship with Clem is hardly dependent on choices (see Rebecca, Carlos). Back in S1, you could make a tiny jab at people like Lilly or Kenny and they would comment on their relationship with Lee across at least for a couple of episodes. There's your "illusion of choice".
I wouldn't say S2 has *bad* writing, it's just very shoddy and inconsistent. Very, very inconsistent...Sarah exclaims that she's never seen a girl around her age since "way before." Uh, she surely met Becca (who obviously knows Sarah given her dislike of her), right? What if we told Carver our name is "Carley"? Ever bring that up in Ep3? No. Carver calls her "Clementine" either way. Are we just led to believe that Carver was the one who shot up Pete and the group back at the river? It'd be nice if Carver had just *one* line alluding to this in E3.
I'm going to set aside the pre-contrived notions that 400 Days would play a bigger role, Carver would be an over-arching villain throughout the whole season, as well as Ep3 having more effective hub areas (which were all completely valid, by the way) and say that I expected better from this episode. Despite the "illusion of choice", I still wanted to see characters comment on their relationship with Clem based on heavy decisions (sit with Kenny or Luke, stick up for Sarah for taking a photo) in this episode. They didn't happen.
I would change my opinion of the whole season if it turned out that Carver wasn't the main focus villain, but the focus turns out to be how Clem is affected by all of our choices (sassy/badass or kind and caring), but even I'm skeptical that E4 isn't going to mention how Clem's personality is going to change due to an important choice such as the 'staying or leaving' Carver choice.
I don't know, it's just that S2 is missing this...spark that S1 had.
Is it confirmed that Christa was actually potentially killed (determinant)? She was stabbed in the leg, or you could hear a gun shot as you ran away, but a stabbed lag doesn't necessarily mean killed, and who knows, maybe the gun shot was Christa shooting at them, not vice versa.

i'm agree with you, season 2 is good, but season 1 was better, because :
- i prefer to play as Lee and take care of Clem.
- i don… more't have any kids, but season 1 made me know what does it feels like to be a father
- season 1 characters were cooler than this season's characters
- season 1 events were more interesting
- killing omid in the begining of this season was an awful start.
When Carver hit Clem in my playthrough Sarah yelled at him to leave Clem alone. Except for Kenny I don't know if anybody else from the group would have done the same.
I also liked her comment about not wanting to hurt anyone no matter how angry she gets.
Only thing I agree with is Sarah, but not the forcing me to like her, cause I never really clicked with her idk why. She is just annoying and socially retarded. I would love to hear from people as to why they like her so much though.
The cabin group weren't just unlikeable because they were simply annoying with bad personalities, but because they seemed like horrible scumbags who were nothing like the characters from season one. They were the total opposite of everything that was shown to be good about Lee and Kenny in season one where it was all about taking care of the kids. The cabin group felt like survivors of the fall of Crawford, and that's not an exaggeration whatsoever. The game completely abandoned the world created by Sean Vanaman in season one for something that felt alien in season two, and that immediately turned off a significant portion of season one's fan base.

Didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll tie the question in with the topic: do we know if the divisive attitude towards Season 2 has reflected in sales? (Basically, I want to know if the game's selling as well as last season.)
I don't think we can see exact sales numbers yet but i found a website called steam charts that shows gameplay stats on steam, the peak players for season 2 was 12,441 which means that was the highest number of players at one time, season 1 had a peak of 9,230 so it appears that the sales could be going well.
