Shooting a group member to prevent them from being eaten?

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
If a group of walkers is approaching Clementine and another character and you have to decide to either LEAVE or SHOOT THEM to prevent them from being eaten alive? What do you do? I was thinking maybe another character may be injured or trapped and only Clementine can escape (like with her and Pete). Do you just run away and let them he eaten alive? Or shoot them to prevent them from suffering?

I would shoot them, even if it were one of my favourite characters. I think that nothing is worse than being eaten alive and they would deserve a quick ending. Unless it was like Tavia or Becca or someone.

What would you do? I think this would be a great choice and very difficult. We've never had to deal with shooting a live, non-bitten group member before.

  • I'd shoot them. Kind of like what Kenny did with Ben in 105. Also, Becca isn't that bad :\ .
  • I just don't like her from what they've shown of her... Idk. Maybe she's just been through a lot.

Yeah, she is kind of a jerk. She just isn't as bad as most people say. At least, not yet. She looks scared if you execute Roberto, chickens out if you try to get her to kill Stephanie, and starts crying if you leave in the RV. You can tell she is still just a kid, she just kind of tries to act tough.

  • I'd shoot anyone who's cool as a mercy kill.
I'd not shoot an asshole or shitlord so they can suffer though.
  • I'd imagine shooting them and putting them out of their misery would be better than being ripped apart, so yeah I'd go with that. It'd be even harder if two people were trapped and you only had time to save one but shoot or leave the other, now that's a choice I'd like to see.
  • Id shoot them. Don't want them to suffer. Unless there bad.
  • Think about it though, you could save a bullet that you could possibly need later. Like what if a few days later, you're in a situation where you need one bullet, but then you attempt to shoot the walker and it's out of ammo and you're like "If only I hadn't". Still, it depends if I hate the person or not. If I hate them, they get eaten
  • We've already done this at the beginning of Episode 3 with Beatrice (dirty, screaming lady). Still, I guess it might be different if it were someone we knew and had some sort character judgment for. For me, unless this particular person has done something particularly egregious, I'd put them out of their misery.
  • That'd be pretty cool, I see a lot of altruistic choices get zero punishment in games and I'd like a story beat that demonstrates that sometimes pragmatism is needed, especially in a dark world like twd's. Being good for the sake of it should have the odd consequence, even if it's only a small demonstration of it.

  • I'd shoot whoever it was as long as they weren't an extreme asshole. People like Carver I'd leave so long as I knew they'd die, but for anyone else I'd put them out of their misery. Especially people I know like Luke or Nick or Kenny.

Ill put a bullet through their heads i did it with Lee and i will do it to anyone who doesnt deserve to be eaten alive.
  • If you, yourself is able to run away, and the other person is next to you, then they can run away too.
  • What would make the choice harder is that if you leave them that gives you more time to escape, but if you shoot them the walkers come after you.
  • I said if they are injured or trapped, like Rebecca losing too much blood after labor.

If you, yourself is able to run away, and the other person is next to you, then they can run away too.

  • Well, I'd shoot them unless they were someone who deserved to get eaten... *cough*TAVIA*cough*
  • She reminds me of the girl from the TV show who's name escapes me atm, the one that was with the governor and chickened out. The girl who was with Glenn post prison attack.
Acting hard but really isn't when it comes down to it

  • I would shoot every time. I don't care how much of a bastard you are...almost nobody deserves getting eaten alive.

  • It depends on the entire situation.. If it's safe enough, then yes, shoot them.. don't let them suffer..

But if letting them get eaten and their screams attracts the zombies attention and I can get away, so be it!

    I'd shoot them.
No one, not even Carver in retrospect, would deserve a fate like that.
I know many will disagree with me and say: " Are you kidding, the hell Carvers wouldn't deserve that."
And with all due respect a point I want to bring out is: "Just because someone is inhumane, doesn't mean you have to be."
