I actually love how Luke was portrayed in this episode. This is GOOD WRITING. This is one of the few things in the episode I actually found to be brilliantly done.
Up until now we hadn't really gotten a sense of who he was, but personally speaking, from the way Nick talked about their failed business I got the vibe that Luke often got big plans that were poorly thought out and ended up down the toilet. This episode confirmed that--Luke tries really hard to be a leader and a hero and he's just not cut out for that. He's stubborn and pragmatic and enthusiastic, but he doesn't think things through and his pragmatism comes out in selfish ways (i.e. his willingness to leave Kenny behind, his trying to steal food because he'd been so busy with his "plan" he forgot to eat).
These are flaws. This is GOOD. It is good for a character to have flaws, it makes them more complex and realistic. Before episode 2, Luke was really just a rogue-ish pretty boy archetype with a cute southern accent. Now, he's starting to become a human.
Nope, Because the Season hasn't ended Yet, We cant Assume, until it Ends, We wait and see what Telltale has for Him in the rest of the story, We are aware people has their ups and downs, people make mistakes, and they end up being Victorious in the end. Daryl was a Jerk to everyone, And what happened? He Redeemed.
I Agree :)
He Tried His best to save them, He made some mistakes, was caught by Carver, So I'm not so Harsh on Him, being that Kenny is still a jerk to ppl, so there is a difference there.
I guess I'm just an asshole. My first play through of season one I made decisions based on what I would do in that situation and I found myself always on Kenny's side. So after Clem he's my second favorite character out of everyone that's still alive. Luke is a nice guy but beyond that he's just kind of there. Haven't really warmed up to any of these new characters. I liked my versions of Vince and Russ but it doesn't look like they're going to be part of my group.
Maybe they love him because he's attractive? Same reason why guys love the girls with the big boobs in games. :P (I'm generalising, I'm not saying ALL guys are like this :s)
Why pick on Luke? When it comes down to it, everyone in the cabin group is useless. I often feel like Clementine is the only capable person out of the entire group. Which, now that I think about it, is probably why they're introducing Jane now.
I like the cabin group just fine, but let's be honest. Nick was well intentioned but incompetent. Carlos was a doctor who not only failed to identify a dog bite, but also failed to realize that Clem would have become ill regardless of what bit her. Rebecca is pregnant, so we don't really know what she's capable of. And Alvin is.. well, Alvin.
So really, by comparison, Luke might be the most competent out of the entire cabin group. The only exception for me would be Pete. We didn't get to see a lot of him, but I have the feeling that he was a very competent and capable person. Had he been in the game longer, I think he would have been a great ally. Hell, he was pretty damn great in his brief screen time as it is.
I'm assuming that Luke's "role" right now in the game actually is to be the, somewhat, opposite of Kenny.
Luke is a planner och thinker when it comes to plans, but they usually doesn't seem to go through because he simply overthinks and changes his mind. The reason I see him as indecisive is because he tends to ends his "ideas in conversation" with "I think". He is also very kind and has been able to keep all his humanity causing him to be very likeable. He is however unable to do the hard things like killing for the good of the group even though that's pretty much the world they live in now.
Meanwhile Kenny is a hothead who like Mike basically said, likes to improvise. When his plans fail it isn't for the lack of trying but the lack of thinking. (Is how I see it like atleast). Kenny's also VERY decisive and stubborn, a good example of that is the boat in season 1 where he is not in the least interesting in thinking of a plan B even though the boat idea seems to worthless. He is a chill dude when it comes to personality, but has noticable changed which he can't be blamed for.
He still has his humanity but unlike Luke, doesn't mind too much doing the hard things that's necessary. (Larry anyone?)
So that's imo Luke's biggest role. Kenny doesn't listen to Clementine at all while Luke does. They are completely different and are not exactly best friends, however when they work together they seem to make a really badass survivor.
When they fought Carver (with help from Clementine) and the idea to get out of Carver's camp worked great once we put both of them together.
So no, I don't think Luke's useless at all. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a Luke fan because I really like how nice and funny his character is, but I also like Kenny his badassness and funny insults to people. I'm happy to have both of them on my team and hope that that won't change anytime soon (Atleast to ep 5 please :< )
And when it comes to the "guardian of Clementine" question. She's a badass female who needs no man!
... Okay seriously she doesn't need a guardian anymore, she needs people and friends for her to trust. My Clem trusts both Kenny and Luke with her life and likes them both (Hugged both teehee), she trusts the whole group to just have her back like she has theirs.
Like Chuck said, right now you're just alive, not little or big, not young or old, therefore she doesn't need a new father-figure.
(also sorry if the text looks messed up in places, I ain't no native english speaker)
His first idea is to not leave at all though BECAUSE of mostly Kenny (Sarita and Rebecca too though) aren't fit to move.
Since everyone insists on moving on anyway he hesistantly says it. Luke both is and wants to be a swell guy, but let's face it. If they were to drag Kenny's lifeless body through the buildning while escaping they'd all get caught.
It was harsh however it made sense in a Survivor way. And let's face it, Kenny would have said the same thing unless it was about Sarita or Clementine. (This coming from one who refused to leave Kenny behind)

Regardless, he'd be a little further down my list of favorite characters anyway because Bonnie joined the group.
He can fight well and is protective towards Clemy. He's also a very nice and positive person + he's cute! :D
What the OP is trying to say, so im saying geeez, 2 more episodes, relax lol
