Did you choose to stay and watch, or walk away?

Personally, I found this decision really hard to make. Being a big fan of the game I have (obviously!) played the episode multiple times and chose different options on different save files.

I think at first I chose to make Clem stay and watch Kenny kill Carver - I feel that, although Clem is still very young and needs protecting from some things, she has seen so much shit already, so, considering the circumstances, this wasn't all too bad. Carver has hurt and killed people she loves and cares about, forced Clem and her group into situations they didn't want to be in and was, overall, a nasty piece of work. Clem is developing into quite a badass character and I feel that if she chose to stay, it is about Clem being independent and making her own decision rather than just listening to what others are telling her. (When sarita and others try and make her walk away.)

Yet, I don't feel that Clem is bloodthirsty or a coldblooded killer, just that she is willing to do what it takes to survive. If you chose to stay, then it just proves Carver right when he says "we are more alike then you think." and I feel the decision you make could, perhaps, impact on Clem's mental stability quite a lot in future episodes? after all, she is only 11(???) and I really don't think she would get any satisfaction out of watching Kenny smash someone's head in (or would she?)

Anyway, I just find this choice a really interesting one and that^ is how I feel about it, I just wanted to hear some other peoples opinions, what choice you made and why!

Initially, I stayed behind because I, as the player, wanted to see what happened if I did. Kinda went meta there.

Eventually I retconned that though, I didn't want the Clem I was playing to do that. So...I walked away. Didn't want Carver to die thinking he was right about her. I like to think the Clem I'm playing is someone who's been hardened by the world around her and understands what needs to be done sometimes, but isn't one to ever take any pleasure in violence or revel in revenge. Just like Lee would have wanted.

Doesn't mean she isn't ready for it when it needs to happen. Just means she doesn't have any desire to see it when she doesn't need to be there.
  • i killed him. clem has to be ready.
  • My pic should be able to answer that.
  • I left because I didn't want to see it and I thought my Clem wouldn't either. I know people are saying she their Clem can take that shit and yea mine can too but I didn't think it was overly necessary to stay and watch. The knowing that he would be AHEM rehabilitated was enough for me.
I did however watch what happened if you stayed online due to curiosity sparked by the other forum users.
  • I didn't.

My Clem didn't need and wouldn't *want* to see it. I also loved the satisfaction of seeing Carver getting pissed that Clem wasn't going to watch him.
  • Yeah, Clem's straight face as Carver yells for her to get the hell back here makes it all worth it.
