I mean yeah she totally wanted to fuck her but that was just because she was hormonal and bored.

  • Yo, I don't know what you saw but Ellie TOTALLY wanted to deep-sea dive for Riley's blackberry during that dancing scene in the DLC.

NO. Although I'm sure Ellie and Riley loved each other, there's no such scene Lemoncakes is describing... Until the Winter section in the main game.

  • This might be a little sexist (kinda) but I feel a little worse now for having a go at you :P

Well Ellie's relationship with Riley was probably one of the most realistic relations in a game, and I don't even mean romantically.

  • It's the best friggin game to ever be created. the story is soooo good and the atmosphere is hella awesome, and it's one of the most realistic games i've ever played in the zombie genre.
  • Hey kids in the reply-chat there's this shit called experimentation, just because two 14 year old girls want to have a clam jam sessions doesn't mean they're exclusively homosexual.

    1. She's not a lesbian, that's like kissing your mother and saying you've committed incest. 2. While I agree, the scene wasn't needed,

I was saying that in this context favouring the opposite gender is still a form of prejudice. Besides I didn't intend to make a big deal out of anything I was just trying to explain myself.

It's a great game but it is indeed overrated. Quite a bit actually. People are calling it the greatest game of the seventh console generation. It's not, it's not even the best game of 2013. Heck Naughty Dog made better games on the PS3 (Uncharted 2).

Bit surprised I didn't like it as much as other people, especially when I'm a HUGE Naughty Dog fan.

The gameplay was great though, had a great focus on the environment and your scavenging for supplies, made it feel like a legitimate apocalypse world. I was really, REALLY annoyed with one particular enemy type in the game called the Clickers. They kill you in one hit. No matter where you are they will INSTANTLY kill you if they run up to you. They're blind and rely more on sight but it's annoying when you spend 5-10 minutes sneaking past a craptonne of them just to get bitten and restart all the way back. You can upgrade your character to be able to use an item called a Shiv to save yourself from them though. And I even felt like it should've been a built-in feature and not an upgrade. They're really, REALLY annoying enemies that completely destroy the flow of the game. Plus, the human character AI is rather stupid at times. It isn't anywhere near as impressive looking as they were at E3. I guess that could be just because it was a staged demo though. It looked as though they would've even been able to plan out attacks via conversations.

And finally, the main praise the game gets is for the two leads, Joel and Ellie. What do I think of them? They're no Lee and Clementine. As a matter of fact, towards the end of the game I grown a rather strong dislike of Joel. Ellie always remained cool though, she has a nasty attitude at times but it is pretty cool to see a well written strong female character. You don't see many of those.

tl;dr: It's a great game, but it's not the best game of the seventh gen, it's not even the best game of 2013. I was always confused that my noticeable criticisms are ignored in most reviews. I always thought them to be really, really annoying.
  • Do you think that what Joel did and by that I mean in the end not giving Elli to the fireflies was the right thing to do?

  • She is most likely a lesbian or bisexual. There's no such thing as a "friend" kiss, it's quite clear from the start of the game (especially with all of the awkward pauses they had as if they are two normal teenagers with crushes on eachother) that they, or at least Ellie, had an interest in Riley that was a bit more than a friend.
I honestly don't know anything about Wolfenstein or Bound By Flame, and this topic is specifically about The Last of Us so it would have been irrelevant.

    1. She's not a lesbian, that's like kissing your mother and saying you've committed incest. 2. While I agree, the scene wasn't needed,

  • Good point. I could be anything really...
Experimentation, bisexuality, homosexuality, either way, it's still clear that it was intended to be put in there for the DLC to gain more attention and even make the reviews better just because they now know that NaughtyDog supports homosexuality.
I support homosexuality 110%, but I found it more offensive if anything that NaugtyDog would use a character's sexuality in a means of gaining attention.

  • Yes, but that's the only good part of the game. If you take away the fact that they are interested in eachother and replace it with just an average friendship, what is the DLC? I didn't think there was a point to it anywho, we already knew what happened to Riley in the main story, since it was mentioned multiple times. The DLC just failed so much that when I was playing it I found myself constantly saying "What is this DLC?" during the entire thing, though they did get me to cry at the end of the DLC, even though I already knew that Riley was going to die and Ellie was going to live.

it's a great game. People here hate it, because they don't want it being compared to TWD.

  • Exactly! I got minimal feels in TLOU yet everyone's all "holy crap it made meh cry" the "thin ice" scene and sarah's death were a bit of feels but other than that, nothing. The ending just made me mad, that should've been our choice but nope, Joel's gotta be selfish don't he? I'd give it maybe 9/10. maybe 8.75/10.

  • it was good. I wouldn't say it was bad. but it wasn't to realistic though. like the way they acted and stuff. the walking dead is better. ALOT better!

  • TWD, winner picked :P TLOU lacked the feels, and the gameplay got pretty frustrating at times. Don't get me wrong though, I bought a PS3 just to play that game. It's just like when people argue Halo or COD, they completely different except same genre (in this case, zombies), yet people still argue which is better, but it's entertaining!

The Last Of Us is a really good game. I don't understand why some are trying to compare or argue which is better TWD or TLOU, both games have their strengths and differences. Both are really awesome games, no need to pick a winner!

  • why would we hate it for being compared to the walking dead? i hate it because it gets too much praise for an all right game with a great story, what i hated the most was the boring ass combat system the same god damn thing every time

It's the story of a middle aged man's tsundere dad-lust for a 14 year old lesbian. So I mean, if you're into that kind of thing.

  • I still hold a huge grudge against that DLC. Not because of content, but because I pre-ordered it and stayed up 'till midnight to play it...only to not have enough space because my idiot sister bought and installed fuckin' Little Big Planet on MY ps3 that I bought with MY money.

  • Well, I think its one of the best games ever. Sure, it has its flaws, just like any game, but to me the story is engrossing, the graphics are top notch and the voice acting is brilliant. I would give it a 9/10.

  • It really was one of the greatest games of the 7th generation IMO

  • Not a big fan of the DLC either. To me the prologue sections felt tedious and boring, I was more a fan of the winter sections.

(Would advise you place spoiler tags, not many people played TLOU in here :P)

Yeah well, not only that. The fact that Joel cold-bloodedly killed how many people who are TRYING to save humanity just to save one girl who would willingly sacrifice herself for the better of mankind just so he could try and have a daughter again is disgusting. I get Joel's reasons I do, but they were stupid ones. Sometimes you have to say goodbye to the people you love for the better of mankind.

The fact you played as Ellie in the epilogue even made me think Joel is now more of an antagonist, It was a horrible thing he done. And one of these days he will likely pay for it. Ellie feels survivor's guilt, she would more than willingly sacrifice herself to save humainity while Joel, will end the human race just for one person.

He's a disgusting person, I know his reasons and I don't want to sound like a douche (he lost his daughter in a very heartbreaking way) but that, was going overboard. I even wanted him to fail and let the Fireflies kill him at that point.

Do you think that what Joel did and by that I mean in the end not giving Elli to the fireflies was the right thing to do?

  • The thing though is that while what Joel did was selfish he probably felt it wasn't right (remember they didn't even give ellie a choice they took her unconscious body and were just going to kill her no choice about it) if ellie had specifically told Joel that's what she wanted he probably would've accepted it (even then that's not known and only up to interpretation) there was also proof tht the operation wouldn't work http://www.reddit.com/r/FanTheories/comments/1gmv8z/ this theory actually makes sense

  • It's a great game if you want a good storyline with feels.

  • I can see why some people would find it overrated, but I think it's deserving of all the praise it gets myself. It creates a detailed and visually stunning world, with awesome atmosphere and well-crafted and voiced characters that develop moving, believable bonds. I enjoyed the gameplay well enough, but the things I listed above are really what made it one of the best games of the generation to me.

  • It is an amazing game! Story, characters, voice acting, combat, everything was just incredible. I have played through it about 7 times and I enjoy it every time

  • It is so damn overrated, i don't see what all the hype was about.

  • I liked it but I do agree that its just a little bit overrated (just a bit). Even though I know a lot of people hate hearing that. It's an amazing game, beautiful graphics and well-developed story-line but its quite different from TWD. The culture or society that is shown in the game is similar to TWD, but its not the same. Its a harsher reality and more realistic in many ways. It's worth playing but don't expect a walking dead feel. I would rate it 8 or 9 out of 10. But I do prefer walking dead.

  • It's amazing in my opinion. Ending was great, if you're into REALLY ambiguous endings. Gameplay was a bit slow at times, but anytime there were enemies, it became intense (especially on hard or realistic difficulties.)
