TWAU Ep4 = 75 minutes long. Expect the same for TWD 204. [No Spoilers]

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
Users over at the TWAU forums who have played the episode early from the Telltale store have confirmed the episode to be 75 minutes long

Lets not forget this old thread i made a month ago.

telltalegames.com/community/discussion/67418/episode-4-also-1-hour-and-20-minutes-long

There's no saving it anymore. They're just rushing everything at this point to release those other two games no one cares about right now. I'm not buying any of their games until they go back to working on 1 game at a time. What a disastrous year for Telltale.

I tried to be patience as long as I could. But... WTF TELLTALE?! You guys were my extraction points. EA, Activision, Rockstar Games, Capcom... I was happy to find something fresh. New. But that situation with TWAU EP 4 makes me worried about TWD S2 EP4. Enough of this shoot. Get your shoot together Telltale. I tried to tell everyone ''Making game is hard. Give them a break guys.'' I guess my choices didn't mattered at all huh, Telltale?

Episode 3 felt rushed to me and there's what two weeks between the new episode of Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us? Can't be a good sign.
  • edited May 2014
No, you can't be sure that the next episode is going to be 75 minutes. You can be sure that it'll likely be around 90 minutes though, give or take a few minutes. And notice that I said 'around'.

Edit: Though perhaps it is best for people to think so, so that there's not as much complaining about episode 4's length. Am I hoping for too much here? Not that there won't be other complaints.

  • Episode 3 wasn't as good as their other content but it was still really good. Episode 4 of TWAU was pretty below their standards...

I think that's because they want to be already done with TWAU and TWD to focus on their new projects *sigh*
I just REALLY hope that episode 4 of TWD won't be as dissappointing as ep 4 of TWAU.
  • Yeah I agree, they should never rush games. Twau episode 1 was SO good it was amazing. Episode 4.. Meh. I really hope I don't have to say the same for twd

Seriously? Rushed or normal game play? I haven't played it, because it's not released on steam yet...
75 Minutes... man, that's really disappointing, but that doesn't have to automatically mean that'll be the same for TWD... right? :(
  • Doesn't mean we'll get 75 minutes of rushed badly written boring shit. We'll probably get 90 minutes of rushed badly written boring shit though.

  • Well, episode 3 of TWD felt kinda rushed aswell. Not as rushed as new ep of TWAU, but still... I mean, ep 3 was good, but not as good as it could be. That worries me.

Hmm, I don't like the 90 minute thing much, but at least TWD seems to stick to it. Not sure what it is with TWAU constantly falling short of even that number.
  • You realise you sound like you hate the game, right? Or Telltale in general?

  • I hate the delusional money hungry idiot at Telltale who thought it would be a genius idea to work on 4 games. There's nothing much to do right now but feel worried about the future of the franchise, i mean, how can ANYONE defend Telltale at this point?

I wouldn't mind it so much really if the person didn't act as though it's not possible for others to like Telltale's current output or as if they don't matter.

As a whole too, I think people need to start treating these episodes as one game, instead of 5 'smaller games' if they aren't already doing so.

For all we know, episode 5 of The Wolf Among Us could be great, with episode 4 being the build-up. I know that the preview seemed action-packed. Not that action is the most important thing. I'm still to play the episode myself anyway, but I skimmed a let's play and caught the preview, so . . . *shrugs*

Not every episode of a tv series is good too. Even the greats, like Breaking Bad. What a great show that was, by the way.

This is honestly why I've stopped coming on this forum as often recently, whenever I come here people whine and whine some more.

I get it, we're all allowed to have an opinion but at this point yes, there is no point as to complaining about the length anymore. I honestly think Season Two's length per episode has been fine. What has been the problem is the gameplay. There's a lack of hub areas and you can play most of Episode 3 with just one hand on the controller.

I'm going to get downvotes for this, but I really am starting to get sick and tired of seeing people just complain about the length of the episodes. For people who love these games you really do give them hell.

Telltale's format has always been the style of being in an interactive TV show.

Always has been, always will be. Hence why there's end credits at the end of every episode.

  • I didn't mean to cause offense or anything, but it just seemed strange to me how I'm on a forum for fans of what Telltale does and I find people wanting to burn Telltale at the stake.

I used to be the biggest telltale fanboy. Then TWD 203 happened.

  • I don't remember TWD season 1 being the same as the stuff we're getting nowadays.

  • Agreed with Cathal, but I didn't actually say we were. They do, however, style them after tv shows as Cathal pointed out.

What I meant to imply is that not every episode can be good and there are sometimes lulls. Pick up any game, tell me that it's great 100% of the time without any lulls or bad parts. The difference here is that you're not getting the entire game at once.

However, a pertinent question, am I wasting my breath here? Because I think I am.

  • Whole-heartedly agree with you. Though I've been perfectly happy with the seasons myself. Well, not perfectly, as nothing's perfect, but yeah . . . I'm not going to act like others do and say the minor grievances I've had have ruined the games/episodes.

Ah, season 1 had no flaws then? Or lulls? And you said you were a big fan until episode 3, so I assume episode 3 has made you forget all the other qualities then? Plus it means that there's no chance episode 4 or 5 can redeem the series in your eyes?

Actually, don't bother replying. If you do, I won't reply back.

Edit: Forgive me if I'm getting fed up and not being so civil anymore. Sometimes I wonder why there aren't a lot of people here. This applies to many forums too.

Yeah. Too many people look at Season 1 through rose-tinted glasses, (Probably the nostalgia factor) it had its flaws and plotholes just like every other game, but it doesn't change the fact that I love Season 1 and Season 2 equally.

  • Seriously, am I the only one who liked the episode? I liked the episode even if it was 75 minutes long. I liked it for the character development, the interesting scenes and of course the final scene of the episode.
  • To be honest, when it comes to episode 4 of Wolf . . . previous episodes have more or less had an arc, even though the story hasn't been completed. Just a smaller one within the overall story.

Episode 4? I'm more looking at it as a 'two parter'.
