The Cabin Group probably would have put a bullet in my head as soon as they thought I was bitten.
There isn't quite as much natural human sympathy stopping you from doing so with a full grown man in his late 20s as there is for a small 11 year old girl. :C

It depends which episode. If it's the first ever episode, then I would try and warn the group about things that could happen.
