I think it's perfectly realistic to survive all kinds of trauma. In fact there are people all over the world who have survived many horrors including watching people die, pain and suffering, and being maimed. Not only did they live but they had families and moved on. Granted the world is not a safe place right now, but it will be eventually. Kenny is looking like he is set up to go through redemption this season. He is going to take care of the baby and Clem, missing eye and all. I feel like his death is slated for season 3.
