I got the PS Vita TWD bundle at Wal-Mart. I was relunctant at first because I thought it was going to be another stupid FPS. When I actually played it, I took a long look into a mirror and reflected on all the months that I could've been playing it and started to tear up.
I was subscribed to pewdiepie. One time he played it, and I saw that I liked this type of game so I played it. Even with that in mind it blew me away from what I initially expected it to be.
I saw some parts via PewDiePie a long time ago.
And one day (maybe a year later), I remembered it and I thought "It has been a long time since I cried".
Honestly, I found it out by PewDiePie. I was subscribed to him months before he actually played it, but I saw him upload Episode 1: part 2. And I thought "Okay, he's not that far into it, I can probably enjoy this" And I watched it, and I did. I heard about the show around that time too, but I heard it wasn't that good, so I held it off until last year when I got bored, and decided to watch it.
Fast-forward to now, and I FUCKING LOVE LUKE HOLY CRAP!
A couple of days after it came out, I saw it on the store and got it thinking "Hey, the show is good, this might be too." Let's just say the wait between 101 and 102 was BRUTAL.
I had heard of the game for a while. but the fact that it was Point & Click and stylized/cartoonish graphics pulled me away from the idea of play it. at the time i was attracted by games that had a nice gameplay and cutting edge graphics, like BattleField, or Assassin's Creed..
And then one day. i watched like 5/6 minutes of EP1. and i thought: - Hey this game is interesting after all. gonna give it a try.
TTG now has a special place in my heart and TWD is currently one of my TOP best games I've ever played in my life! followed by Mass Effect 1, 2, 3, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Max Payne 1, 2, Assassin's Creed I,II, Brotherhood, CoD4.
I knew of TellTale from the Back to the Future game and had been hearing strong word of month on various gaming forums and the IMDB board for the show for a while about the TWD game. Not sure why it took me months to do it, but I finally bought all the episodes to that point when S1E3 came out and kicked myself for not doing it sooner.
The IGN review of episode 5. I had no idea that game existed and I later gave it a try. It was a phenomenal experience. I'm so glad I found out about it. It was my first exposure to anything Walking Dead related as well.
All my friends were saying how they sobbed at the ending, so..don't ask me why, but I went and watched the ending first before anything else and actually teared up even though I hadn't ever heard of this game before. xD Eventually, I watched PewDiePie play it, then bought the game on my own.
I knew about the game but wasn't interested until i saw it in the Steam 2012 winter sale so i decided to randomly buy it with a bunch of other games, it was probably the best steam sale purchase i have ever made,
I found out about this from watching Pbatvg who has started to upload again and yeah watched the 1st ep then decided to buy it best decision of my life
I was hearing rave reviews about it and decided to see what all the fuss was about. The first time I played it, I got to the part in A New Day where we had to kill the reanimated police officer but I couldn't find the bullets to put in the gun (facepalm). I still think that particular game over scene where he lunges out at you to be the scariest in the entire series. Anyways, I kept dying so I basically left the game for like a whole month thinking there was some kind of glitch in it; afterwards I realised how dumb I was, and I finished the game.

My friend recommended it to me after watching a playthrough on YouTube. I was too lazy to look it up until like, 3 months later when I saw in a Gameinformer that entire like, 3 pages or something about how they created Clementine. It talked about how players got all attached to her and shit, so I took that as a challenge: I would try to play it without getting attached to anyone. I have never failed a challenge worse in my life. It wasn't until about a month after I played it that I was all "Oh yeah, Kyle recommended TWD to me!"
I was on winter break and my dad rented my family a place so we could visit cousins and relatives in another city. While we were there, my brother went out and came back with the season one disk. I've only seen the first episode of the show but I love zombie games and movies, and the rest of my family is obsessed with the show, so we all crowded around the TV and watched my brother play it.
I loved the game but once it was finished, I kind of forgot about it after awhile. I was on Youtube and watched PewdiePie play season 2. So.. yeah, then I got back into it. I played the game for myself before I bought the first three season two episodes.
My brother used to watch the show and I had heard about the game from him and I am more of a gamer than a TV show person so I chose to play the game first. My brother even said that the game was better than the show story-line wise (at the time it was during first season or second season). But now he doesn't watch the show and I started watching it myself soon after I started the game. I actually prefer the show now but anyway that's how I found the game.
I'm a Pewdiepie fan (PLEASE DON'T DOWNVOTE ME) and once upon a time I started to look for his long playthroughs that I haven't seen yet. I found The Walking Dead. I absolutely fell in love with this game! I even dropped a few tears in the end of the letsplay. And then I decided that I MUST play this game by myself. I created a Steam account, bought the game and played it. Even though I watched the whole letsplay, this game was still really interesting and I cried like a bitch in the end. I'm glad I found it because it made my life better.
Pewds also brought me back my desire to play video games, but that's quite another story.

It was either my sister or youtube. Can't really remember.
The earliest I remember was when I was watching videos on a slow day and I saw a clip of the infamous Ben hatchet scene. Huh...
when I heard word " season 2 " I said to my self " man the season 1 was downright fantastic IF they will make a season 2 " so I bought s1 & s2 .
Haha this is awesome!
saw it on steam and started playing before episode 5 came out.
Same answer as everybody else, YouTube. I saw TheRadBrad playing two or three parts and I was like "Eh, it's cool I guess, but not my type of game"
What a joke.
People talking about it on the internet, all the awards it was getting, Samuel Jackson.

I was playing CSI and decided to watch the maker's webpage, and found The Walking Dead there.

Larry came out of my TV, punched me in the face and said that he'd shove a stick up my ass unless I download the game.

I was on the xbox and I saw an ad for TWDG and I played the first episode and it was AMAZING. But now I regret it and I wish I bought it on PC.
