its ok if only thing i had to do was click zombies but it looked damn good, and living in zombie apocalypse, no matter how much depth is in story the game eventually turns into zombie slasher at some point
That was more of an interactive cutscene, aside from clicking zombies so Lee just slashes them the way Telltale lets him, you have no goddam… moren impact (yeah, sure, you can choose the glass shard as a weapon, if you leave Lee's hand. Incredible change). This is a point-and-click adventure, not a first person shooter or some sort of zombie slasher.
It's a narrative about characters and their story, and so far I'm interested in Clementine's story.
Ah, but you see, in order to do a deeper exploration of the psyche Telltale would have to forgo the episodic format and make a singular game that a beginning middle and end. Otherwise, they'd be doing all of the psychological analyses on the fly, which would make the writing shallower than it needs to be.
Besides, the ultimate conclusion one can reach in a zombie apocalypse is: without civilisation morality is determined by those with power. And if they started rebuilding then one of two things could happen: 1) they rebuild and that's the end of the walking dead. 2) someone fucks up the rebuilding and they're back at square one. Kirkman hasn't gotten much past no. 2, and I get the feeling it is impending with this two year time skip he gave us.
The ammount of stories to tell in a zombie apocalypse is limited. The characters, much less so. This is why it's best to go with another main for the 4th season onwards. Otherwise Clem will become another brick like Commander Shepherd, or god forgive us, such a fan favourite she dominates all of walking dead lore. And I don't want that to happen, since TWD isn't Clementine. It's all the characters.
That's a real bad idea, man.
First of all...
And I have to disagree. Telltale can explore so many new angles as she gets olde… morer. A lot of zombie franchises focus on the violence and constant action, but TWDG explores the apocalypse's effect on our psyche and morals, how people handle the hell the world has become. Seeing even further how the apocalypse and her experiences affect Clementine would make the game into something even more profound than it already is. I wouldn't lose interest in her story that easily. I think there's a whole lot more to tell.
Not in this type of game. Telltale gets blamed for making not as much of a game but rather an interactive movie, and this is quite deserved.
For example, you are given a choice to hack a zombie's head. But, you can only do it with your axe, and you HAVE to do it. You can't ignore it, you can't shoot it, you can't dispatch it in any other way. No freedom of choice, in that regard.
And about that scene in Episode 5, yeah, it looks impressive, but it's just "click somewhere where we set a point for you and you'll hit a zombie", aside from that there is no choice, variety, no gameplay mechanics whatsoever. Not every game about zombies becomes a zombie slasher at some point. It is either initially so, or the developers just give you a fancy cutscene where you might even get something to do, but it's not likely.

Sorry, Clementine's awesome, and I think Telltale's made it to the point where playing as her works. But I just miss the ability to be able to knock a few heads together if I have to. And I think Luke's a good character. Probably my favorite of Season 2.
^ And Honey Boo Boo is not appropriate in any situation.
other than that leading a group or even some possible romance flavor works in these games but playing kid sort of handicapped that. in s1 everyone looked up to me for ideas but now i have to follow others.
I don't actually see it, as such a bad idea?

highly doubtful, kenny is fully explored but luke not really we saw how quickly he changed in EP 1 at one time he threw me out of his lap and said i was bit by walker, in next 10 seconds i saw a changed luke after opening eyes so he is still bit of enigma i think, if telltale could save him for next season
I'd prefer Kenny for Season 3 protagonist. Anyways, it should be Clem and Clem should stay the playable character until she dies (which I hope that never happens).
I hope not, he is the most stale typical good guy in the game so far. I don't dislike Luke, but there are so many other people imo that should be lead protagonist over him.
Kenny would be a better protagonist than Luke, because Luke is basically too good to be the playable character. He wouldn't kill Carver, and he was shocked when Clem said she killed a dog who attacked her. He's not really an enigma, and his character would have to change massively in a very ridiculous way for any choice with him to make sense.
Kenny on the other hand is more conflicted, he is capable of doing both good and bad, out of anyone in the group, he makes the most sense as a playable character, but even then,. I'd rather stick with Clem for the moment.

I'd rather they stick with Clem at least for another season or two. There's a lot of potential with her character that one 7 someodd hour long season just can't fulfill.
Am I the only one who likes this idea? We haven't gotten to see much of Luke's past so he technically is a blank slate. But yeah, I would prefer to keep going as Clem still.
Hello, Huge Luke Fan here, allow me to contribute.
ahem
No.
The only reason I loved playing as Lee was cause I got to look after this little girl, Clem. The reason I love playing as Clem is to see how I want Lee's story to affect me.
Luke? He's great and all, but he is fully/partially developed. We know bits about him, and there's a canon way he'd react to things. It wouldn't be a tailored character anymore. There's a billion canon Lees and Clementines, but there's one canon Luke. I think we will be so caught up in trying to decide what was the canon thing to do instead of developing our own experience.
yes as long s she is alive. it would kinda kll the love for the games if she died. maybe bring another playable character alongs clem, you know put more episodes, half episodes for the new character and other half for clem and then they run into each other. but overall I want, would like it to be, about the growing of clem in the ZA
I wouldn't mind playing as Luke, but if it really came down to it and Clementine was the main playable character for a Season 3, I'd be okay with that.
...although, I'd kill to play Luke in a dlc perhaps. I wanna control that farmboy so badly ;_;
Clem forever and always. But I would be open to having 2 playable characters in upcoming seasons (Luke and Clem or Kenny and Clem or maybe even a completely new character who meets up with Clem later) as someone else suggested earlier because that would be cool to see. But I love Clementine and this is her story... it would be weird not to play as her because then she's more likely to die during the season!

No one will ever replace Clem.

That scene in Indiana jones always scared the shit out of me when I was younger XD

No it will be stupid if telltale used the same drama again
Luke a main character......... Nope! Kenny should be the main character for the next season!
Season 5 and still play as Clementine

I think that the game could work with a different playable character if Clem was still alive. In certain situations at least.
I wasn't scared of Indiana Jones as a child i was scared of Pee Wee Herman.
As much as I like Luke, no thanks. I feel the game has always been Clem's story.
I know, Regret #1 (which is how I will remember you).
I'd rather they stick with Clem at least for another season or two. There's a lot of potential with her character that one 7 someodd hour long season just can't fulfill.
Shoulda seen that coming. It's gonna be a meme fest until everyone stops loving them.
Lol I read that as Reggie #1

I'd like to know that as well.

Hell no ! Still alive in season 3 ? Yeah, but the playable character ? No thanks.
As much as I love Luke, no.
