The answer to all these questions is men. Who wrote the history books? especially in Western civilization, which seems to enjoy leaving out … moreall the non-white and non-males. I would write more but I'm honestly disgusted that someone decided to take the time to write such an idiotic and uneducated comment. Do not blame inequality on the oppressed. It's not women's fault that they don't overcome men, it's men's fault that they have encouraged a system of oppression on women for centuries.
Whoa, this thread went downhill really fast. Is it really that hard for some people to accept the fact that for once in a video game the demographic for the main cast is more female than male? We don't even get that in most movies/tv shows and all forms of media. You know how great it is to see an actual company do that, even if not deliberately? And not only that, but actually have us playing as a female protagonist... of colour, might I add. It's ridiculous how some people feel the need to come on here and proclaim how unrealistic it is that there's this many female characters left. In case you haven't noticed 50% of the population is female, so omg it's so unrealistic that so many women would survive the ZA... No, the stats say otherwise. And considering that half the population is female, it is important to be represented in media, including video games like TWDG. Seriously, it's reactions like this that just prove the point of why people on here are actually happy to see a female majority group.
But again, they'll just make plans like the men would, that's the point.
How the men might react is a more valid point, although it looks… more like Kenny might be leading this group, god help us...although he's not his strongest at the moment, nor is Luke, although he seems to be getting better. Maybe it's time for the first female leader since Lilly? Someone like Bonnie might be good for it. I would say Jane but she seems too independent.
Actually, maybe there doesn't even need to be a leader anyway.
I think Telltale are really good at representing female characters. They even have damn pole dancers in TWAU and they're not really sexualised at all! Racial diversity is great, no steriotypes. They even make fun of steriotypes with the whole urban lee thing! xD
I can't believe people are saying that because men are naturally stronger that they will survive more. All a girl needs to do is get a damn gun and they can defeat any body builder no matter how strong they are. xD
There are a lot of women out there who could undoubtedly kick your ass and outlive you in a disaster.
Really? What culture or societ… morey did women build from the ground up? Which civilization has had women play an essential, technical role in its foundation beyond the symbolic? What are some ancient female philosophers you can name? Why was it so easy for men to take women's rights away from a historical standpoint if they're so equal? Why aren't women strong enough to oppress men? Why did ancient armies use animals more than they did women in combat?
Has there ever been a great female military strategist? I can name a lot of men: Hannibal Barca, Napoleon Bonaparte, Sun Tzu, Genghis Khan, Julius Caesar, Alexander as some of the world's most noteworthy.
Well the main protagonist of the whole season is a female and I think that is awesome in itself.
There seems to have been more and more f… moreemale protagonists in the past few years too.
You have;
* Clem (The Walking Dead)
* Snow (The Wolf Among Us)
* Ellie (The Last of Us)
* Elizabeth (Bioshock Infinite)
* Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
* Jodie Holmes (Beyond: Two Souls)
What a time to be alive.
As soon as the episode ended I did a head count, it was one of the first things I noticed. As long as these people are kind and respect Clementine I'm happy with this group.
None. And I think everyone just gave you the answer.
Plus to add the fact that women can endure GO ASK CLEMENTINE. She's eleven and was able to stitch her own arm up. I know I would've fainted cuz the pain she went through was similar to the after effects of my toe surgery and I was close to fainting.
I can't believe people are saying that because men are naturally stronger that they will survive more. All a girl needs to do is get a damn gun and they can defeat any body builder no matter how strong they are. xD
Then I suppose that you and I will simply have to agree to disagree over the amount of authority that a creator has over their characters. I don't see either of us making headway with the other any time soon. That cool with you?
I just noticed how few men there are left. I've been averaging one male group member death per episode (Pete, Alvin, now Carlos) so at this rate it will be even fewer before long
They can do the same things as men can, and men can do the same things as women can outside of actual physical differences ;like not being able to breastfeed or give birth.
Apart from that. men and women are just as capable.
If it isn't. then no, I am not a 'feminist hippie', I am just a man that believe people shouldn't immediately be treated differently because of their race, sex, gender or sexuality.
It was pretty funny. Their reactions weren't at all surprising to me though. I've never doubted for a second that women have a higher pain threshold. Very easy for all these misogynist asswipes to say otherwise when they don't go through a fraction as much pain.
There's a video out there somewhere where scientists simulated labor pains on men, and their reactions really do say it all. I'll see if I can find it.
It really doesn't mean anything, it's just how it ended up.
Now don't take me as a sexist here, I'm just saying what I see in nowdays' society, but in these days more and more women just try to be "ladies" and not aspire to be the same as men (which is totally wrong) because society has this image of how "women" should be and how "men" should be as well, so I think that caused a lot of women to just freak out and die because they weren't "used" to fighting because they were pretty much brainwashed to "let the men handle that".
Wait, how is it misogynistic to say that men have a higher pain tolerance than women? Even if that claim were false (whichit'snot), it doesn't say anything about the relative worth of men and women. People often forget, but pain is a good thing. It lets you know that your body is in danger and that you should try to avoid whatever circumstances are causing your body to feel this sensation. Being more sensitive to pain means that you have more awareness of when something is going wrong with your body, which is pretty important in a survival situation.
Is this it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlU2lmzzpxQ

I would argue that out of that list, only Clem, Lara and Jodie are true protagonists. I mean, we've had women on our side in games for a very long time, but having playable female protagonists, as they are, is much rarer.
It really doesn't mean anything, it's just how it ended up.

I will agree with Dome Wing on this one. More studies tend to support men on that one. If you want to bust his claim then you need to source evidence when you are arguing about something like this.
I haven't read all of the comments, but why do people think that men are the most capable of surviving ?
This is a zombie apocalypse, not a boxing competition against zombies (somebody make a fanart of this, just kidding).
The most important things to survive are :
-Have a weapon (not only one if possible).
-Find a good group.
-Know what to do.
-Shelter.
-More things, but as you know, I am lazy.
Physical strength is a big plus. Intelligence (not hard maths) IS one the big keys to surviving.
I'd chalk that up more as there just being a few walker models and men were just ones that were made the most. For the corpses my question will be is when are those corpses and what area is it in? If it was in a gender neutral area then okay. If it was in a male-oriented building like
To that 2nd point I would argue that it would be hard to show that very well in gameplay. I'm also trying to think of the times Lee fights women walkers and struggles (Clementine will not be included, she is a child and will struggle against both genders equally due to her size).
Sandra the Babysitter, Lee got ambushed, had an injured leg, and bashed his head against the counter so that definitely made her a bigger threat than even a normal male walker.
The motor inn zombie near the RV. That one was only dangerous because the group lacked weapons and the only weapon they had was an ice pick. So yeah, slightly less dangerous than Sandra due to the wide open space.
3.The horde in episode 5 had one female walker that could bite Lee during the "Armed for Death" scene and not result in a game over. Though considering that situation, any walker would be a threat.
Also I have a theory that when someone turns the body shuts off the limiters on their muscles which would explain why the women walkers could over power people; the walkers are using their muscles to their fullest potential which is STRONG. Of course after a while those muscles would break down, leading to them being weak again.
I still think that if the same walker were to attack the average (emphasis on average, so imagine the average height and weight for both genders) man or woman then the man has the higher chance of physically over powering the walker. The women would have to be cunning to survive. Though in my mind I don't think any women would be dumb enough to try to fight a walker with brute force so that point is kind of moot.
Summarize: Most men are stronger than women but that wouldn't matter anyway because of the Walker's lack of muscle limitations.
And, yeah, we're not arm-wrestling here, but greater physical strength afford you more options against zombies. Like when the hoard of zombies were piling on the door that Lee was under in the beginning of episode 3. If Kenny hadn't helped him (and he didn't for a lot of people), Lee had to rely on his physical strength to get out of there. A weaker person would have probably died.

Fortunately, only a few are... Not really happy with the fact that there are more women than men.
Many things make us love this game so much, one of them is that you find who you can relate to, or even who you want to be.
Anyway, in many games you don't see a lot, or over-sexualised women. Now they have good women (seriously : Christa, Molly, Clementine, Carley, Lilly, etc) capable and easy to relate to. In many movies (video games, maybe ?), they are just the eye candy or the one who have coitus with somebody.
Us, urbans... How many movies where the 1st to die is a brotha (no-ones give a sh*t when he/she do). Now look what we have, Lee, Clementine (she is African-American), Mike, etc.
-Too many things to write about. And as you know, I am lazy.
This game is not about people, not a specific group, but people surviving. Also, it is hard to feel that your "kind" is left-out.

I've been waiting for someone to say that. I love the prostitutes in TWAU because they're human beings and act like most people would if they were forced to be hookers.
I just love it because it's natural and just good writing. So far there's only been one "bad" female character and that was because she was written as someone trying too hard to be badass. I know Jane is quite similar to Molly in many ways but she fit right in with the narrative, I don't know how but she did. Probably because Jane lacks that stupid parkour bullshit on top of it so she's not quite a "Mary Sue" character. I just hope episode 4 doesn't ruin it like the previews show.

Omg I've watched too much south park. I read that as Big Gay Al
Couldn't have said it any better myself. Take my like!

Well Clem is secretly the leader in her own little way, lol.
That's what forums are for. For over thinking things :P

Haha when in doubt, ask myth busters!
Wow... Get a girlfriend dude FEMALES CAN DO THINGS TOO M8
That's pretty sexist. I didn't mean it like that.
How do you freaking know if girls can't fight or survive? I do karate biatch! But really, you are
srs rite nao?
Yay now lets reel off the list of male characters! Oh wait, I think that list is significantly longer... <.<
What she said isn't sexist.
It is a little rude, however.
I must've interpreted her or his comment in my own way then.

Yeah, I can imagine that.
Yup, that's cool.
'Females can do things too' is sexist in no way whatsoever.
My bad.
There's certain things females can do, yes...
What are you, some kind of feminist hippie?
I just noticed how few men there are left. I've been averaging one male group member death per episode (Pete, Alvin, now Carlos) so at this rate it will be even fewer before long

Alright then. Here's a study done by Stanford University with an 11,000-patient sample size in support of my claim. Let's see what you have.
It really doesn't mean anything, it's just how it ended up.

I may have came across as a bit rude, but as Flog said not sexist. Just a bit mad at your assumptions that is all...
Don't forget Ellie, she is a playable character after all.
No, just bad luck.
Some ended up in the wrong groups (capable or not).
And many more reasons.
I will agree with Dome Wing on this one. More studies tend to support men on that one. If you want to bust his claim then you need to source evidence when you are arguing about something like this.

Well, about the owning a weapon thing, 47% of men in the US own a gun while only 13% of women do (http://www.gallup.com/poll/20098/gun-ownership-use-america.aspx).
