Victors Role

For those who don't know, Victor is the name of the bandit who attacked you and Christa at the beggining of 'All That Remains' and appears near the end of the same episode, as he begs Clementine for some water from her water bottle. In other words he's what the game calls the 'Dying Man'.

Do you think we'll ever see Victor again? What impact will our decision have? (Other than not letting Pete drink any water if you gave it to Victor and you saved Pete) Could Victor save Clementine if you gave him water? Or shun Clementine for not giving him water.

Also did you or did you not give water to Victor? And if you did/didn't, why?

  • I wanna believe that either Ralph or someone who survived that attack will know that Clem gave Victor the water in a later ep and be much nicer to her and the group.

If you didn't know, Ralph was the Urban with Winston and Victor in the beginning of the game.

  • Why do people care so much about Victor. He's dead! Forget him.

  • I'm losing hope for meaningful decisions now. The most that will happen is that they will nod to it, be angry for a few seconds then it's business as usual.

  • Victor was probably killed by the walkers that attacked and bit Pete.

  • We never saw him die, all he did was look at Clementine either thanking her or begging her for water, then Pete was bitten.

  • Unlikely since the walkers would either chase Nick for shooting, or Pete and Clementine as Pete was shouting and did also shoot once.

  • I really don't think we'll be seeing Victor or the bandits again. They appeared to be plot devices to separate Clementine from Christa, and Victor's second encounter with Clementine was to foreshadow Carver's role in the story.

  • Interesting but I don't understand what you mean by Victors second encounter was to foreshadow Carvers role? Could you explain, because it sounds interesting.

  • "Hey bitch, why didn't you give the dying man the water"
    "He hurt my friend"
    "Okay cool, we good?"

  • Victor Reznov will have his revenge.

  • Yeah I don't know. Somebody making this game had to have something in mind. Even one person. The dead group, Carver, and the group that attacked Clementine and Christa had to have meant something one time or another. One guy doesn't just miraculously pop up back into your life like that. There was a reason.

  • MY NAME IS VICTOR REZNOV AND I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!

Victor Reznov will have his revenge.

  • Well, maybe I'm just throwing the word 'foreshadow' out there but it was implied that Carver was responsible for the massacre by the river bank, and the brutality of Victor's wounds seems to confirm that. It's a big stretch since we only get to hear about Carver by the time we see the dead bodies by the river bank.

I was just thinking that Victor's role by the river was to show how dangerous Carver is, considering that he's the only survivor, but just barely.

  • You have a point there, but he could hopefully be more than that. I'm sure he could try and help Clementine if the two come across each other. Then perhaps he can explain what happened to Christa.

  • I'm not against Victor or his group showing up again if it means that Christa's fate will be answered, but unless she's addressed at some point in Episode 4, I doubt Telltale will bring them back.

I seriously hope I'm wrong though, it'd be a waste for Christa to never return again.

  • I believe that if we gave water to Victor he may perhaps join the group temporarily or at least explain what happened to Christa. If we didn't he may be hostile to Clementine (but stopped by the group) and perhaps treat Clementine harshly as well as not explaining what happened to Christa.

  • Yes it's noted that he's called "The Dying Man" on the 'Choices' screen as well, but just because you're dying. Does not mean you cannot be saved.

  • I gave him water, because I thought he would tell me where Christa was. Afterall, he was only a drain on my water bottle.
