What software does Telltale Games use for The Walking Dead?
I was just wondering. The Walking Dead looks really awesome with the comic book like animations and mechanics. Also, is this software available to buy too?

Anyone? Please?
Sorry I don't think the software is available but I think they use their custom made engine named the 'Telltale Tool' to make all their games.
TTG makes shitty and horrible graphics for 2014 but graphics doesn't make a game good
That's what I figured. Telltale has their own secret, special software.
Yep, they use their own engine and development tools. The infamous Telltale Tool.
Their graphics engine is actually quite good. You'd be surprised![;) ;)](https://community.telltalegames.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I understand the point yo've made that for 2014, the graphic's are not the best our technology can use, but for the purpose of TWD the graphic's are perfect.
It's like a discussion I had about some of the older classic movies like Godzilla. Those special effects were crap compared to what we can do today, but sometimes the classic's are best as they are and the new versions, while may look far better are too filled with high end effects and the whole story suffers. TWD isnt about the graphic's, it's about the story.
i didn't mean it like that i meant that compared to gta v cod watch dogs bf 4 from 2014 this game looks horrbile compared to it but like i said even if they are not good as the other i don't care i still love TWD
Talltale needs to keep going with this comic book style. When the took it a step further with Wolf Among Us. and it is the most impressive thing I have ever seen. The ability to do comic book style and water color style is something that other games don't have. However, I have waited a long time for story choice influenced true cartoon animated videogames. I hope Telltale continues to develop both. I would love it if they had a game where I can choose the animation style, story type, and genre and have no idea what story will actually take place until I play it. If anyone can make that kind of game happen I think this company can.
Telltale is an indie studio. They don't have the production qualities of typical AAA retail games.
If high end game series like Call of Duty or GTA are your definition of "adequate", then of course an indie studio like Telltale won't be up to par.
"Telltale is an indie studio. They don't have the production qualities of typical AAA retail games."
And just the way I like it. Some people seem to think that the only good games are the AAA ones, which is just bullshit.
You know that's incredibly insulting to the visual artists who made the games the way they are, right?
I don't think that's it.
The way I see it TWG und TWAU don't look the way they do, because Telltale can't afford to make better graphics, but because of choice. Of course I can't speak for textures or how hard they are to make. But the graphics engine of those games is not that different from a that of an AAA title. The concepts and techniques are the same. To get a cartoony look you even have to add stuff on top of that. For example the outline-shader that adds a black line around characters.
Or a better example is the Cel Shading in TWAU (TWG does not really use Cel Shading). You still need to do all the normal diffuse-light-calculations and tangent-space-transformations for normal mapping. And after you've done that you transform your normal lighting into cel-shaded lighting.
Animations also always work the same. I haven't heard of a game that didn't use GPU-skinning for that.
Not to mention time constraints. Aiming to get an episode out every one or two months is hard enough for them as it is, and putting 'better' graphics in would only extend that period.
Meh, I'm glad they don't have pimped out graphics - my computer has enough trouble playing it as it is. Admittedly I get bored if the graphics are like 2D from the 90's, but other than that, graphics aren't that important...
100% agree.
