Clem, Kenny, and Season 3
I'm confident Clem will be stickin' around for another season. There is enormous room for growth in her character, and Telltale would be foolish to kill her off just to add emotional weight to the end of the season.
Just as there's room for growth in Clem, there's plenty left in Kenny's character too. I wasn't at all confident Kenny would survive the season at the end of Ep. 2, but after the events of Ep. 3 I'm much more confident our beloved cursing Floridian will be back with us. The reason is this: in the comics when a character is maimed or suffers some kind of serious permanent injury, and then pulls through, it's often an indication they'll be around for a while. Everyone is in danger in the Walking Dead world, and everyone seems to be periodically allotted their moments of peril. When a character has an especially climatic moment, like getting your face beaten to a pulp and losing an eye, you know they're likely to be around awhile if they pull through. It's a bit superfluous to kill the character shortly thereafter! It's also (overwhelmingly) likely Kenny will lose Sarita at this point, and thus we get to see how this latest tragedy changes him. Kenny's story is not over.
In addition, I think Telltale realizes it makes for a more interesting narrative to have characters that survive and are allowed to grow and change. This is probably a major reason they brought Kenny back. He's the only character left, besides Clem, from the first episode of Season 1. Just as the comics still have several surviving characters from the original group 126 issues in, Telltale hopefully sees the wisdom of retaining both Clem and Kenny.
With regards to Season 3, it's too difficult to speculate what direction Telltale will go -- we need to know what happens in Ep. 5 first. But, I'll add that the very latest issue of the comic just jumped two full years into the future, which suddenly means Telltale has a much larger window to do time jumps without getting ahead of the comic's story arc. It wouldn't surprise me for Telltale to mimic the comics, jumping forward two years so that Clem will be slightly older and more capable. One of the weaknesses in this Season that reviewers have commented on is the believability of Clem assuming the savior role so often, and, while I think they've done well overall, it's hard to argue there haven't been awkward moments; the wind mill scene jumps to mind as the most ridiculous.
As for the next two episodes, I think we'll be seeing Christa again... it's just a matter of when.
Comments
They will most likely keep Clementine in the next Season if they make another one
I'll pray for telltale to think like this! Bringing Kenny back just to kill him would be completely pointless.
ignore this comment
I don't get it. Why the dislikes?
I have a feeling that Season 2 will be just for character development and struggles. Season 3 is where it will hit the fan. I honestly don't think two episodes is enough time to get an emotional ending
I'm really hoping that Telltale is planning to go in this direction. It makes a lot more sense than 'oh let's kill Kenny and Clementine for dramatic effect'
Thats if they even do a season 3. I hope to God that they do!
lol well I originally read the post wrong so I put something else, but I realized my mistake and changed the comment
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that. Lots of users out there that like to "jump the gun"
AMC said the show will still be around in 2022. Kirkman already has plans for 300 issues. Expect the same for the game.
Wouldn't they have run out of ideas by then? Or even before?
You are totally reading my mind today! But I wouldn't doubt Clem_is_awesome. He/she has legit information when it comes to TWD
Dunno, that's exactly why i made this thread
http://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/72811/storytelling-in-twd-are-the-possibilities-endless-or-is-it-doomed-to-get-repetitive/p1
Oh, what did you say?
If they keep Clementine around I want to see a new protagonist, who's somewhat like Nick or Ben. A young aged boy (or girl) - Prefer if it was more like around Bens age, who is scared, a wuss in other words and the season shows that wuss transform into a survivor.
Well I was pretty much talking about who was gonna be protagonist of season 3 but I didn't read the post right so yeah we'll leave it at that lmao
No, Clementine is and will always be the protagonist as long as she lives
Not gonna lie, but i rather be an adult than a kid though. Clem is a boss, a tiny boss.. but she cant do much when it comes to leading a group because she is a kid. I wanna be a shotcaller. Hopefully we get an older Clem in season 3. Atleast 16...
Yeah I actually like that idea but a lot of people on the forum are like parents and don't want their little Clem to grow up
Telltale is going to kill off Kenny just because you made this thread.
(Completely joking.. for those of you that don't get that)
Well, anyone can die in TWDG. No one is safe, people are different to others, just because some people have pulled through in the comics, doesn't actually mean Kenny will. There's a 70% - 30% chance that he's going to pull through in my opinion. Let's put it this way, people (including me) absolutely LOVE Luke, but we know he'll die at some point. Maybe this season, maybe not. Everyone will eventually die at some point, it's just a matter of when.
That ignores the point of the walking dead doesn't it?
I mean,. he's going to die ONE day.
It would not be pointless as he's already contributed a lot to the plot (for better or for worse, depending on your opinion of him).
Him dying in episode 5, for example, is very much a possibility, and would not render bringing him back pointless, unless you think that all characters they bring back should be immortal.
I personally think that, while lots of people like Kenny, there are also quite a few who don't, and keeping him around until like the end of season 3 would be a little unfair towards them.
It's not like Clem where practically everyone likes her.
Those were the people who sided with Lily. Bunch of fools if ya ask me. She was a "psycho bitch" -R.I.P. Lee
What a brilliant way to disrespect others' opinions.
I myself liked them both, because in my opinion they are very similar.
Other people aren't stupid just because they don't agree with exactly what you think.
It's very easy to see why people might side with Lilly. For example, Kenny tried to abandon her in the motor inn before she did anything wrong, and she kept the group alive for 3 months as leader.
She told them not to bring in the new people, who ended up nearly killing katjaa and causing the save lot to become overrun, and she was the main person who originally suspected the ST Johns.
Remember that the people who like Lilly don't like her BECAUSE she killed Carley, much like Kenny's fans don't like Kenny BECAUSE he killed Larry. They like her as a person, and feel sorry for her.
All in all, the game is very much up for interpretation, so please don't suggest that people are stupid just because they like different things to you. That's what real stupidity is.
Or, at least, assholery.
LOL sorry I can be dick sometimes xD Nah but yeah you make a good point though.
The Meat locker part o_o I knew Larry died and wanted to prevent him from turning, but god.. Clem was standing right there. I didn't want her to see Lee doing that so I'm glad Kenny did. So yeah he killed Larry but that was way different from Lilly killing Carley. How?
Listen, first off, Kenny had to kill Larry so he wouldn't turn. Lilly killed Carley based off a FALSE assumption. How crappy is that?
Second, Kenny atleast told everyone in the locker the he had to stop Larry from turning. Where as Lilly killed Carley out of the blue.
Third, Larry wasnt much of a liked person ( even though he had "charm shooting out his ass"), Carley was one of the most liked people. So you should be able to tell why there are more Kenny fans than Lily fans(if there were any idk).
Larry didn't die. If you push on his chest enough ,he breathes, and if you help Lilly but don't push, he doesn't breathe. This proves he was coming back to life and not reanimating.
Kenny ALSO killed Larry off a false assumption: that Larry was dead.
BOTH were trying to help the group by killing, and BOTH we mistaken in doing so.
Oh, believe me, I get that people hzate Lilly just because she killed Carley and not just because she KILLED> But I don't think that's a good thing.
I value all human life equally, and if you think about, Larry's life there was more important due to the fact that he still had family with him.
Not to mention, if Kenny hadn't killed Larry, Lilly almost certainly wouldn't have shot Carley, as the reason she did so was because she was in an extremely fragile mental state after seeing such a murder, combined with ben's actions.
EDIT: Classic people who support Kenny in arguments. They get presented with facts that they don't like but can't argue against, like Larry being alive, and just hit the dislike button instead.
It might be worth actually looking at your own views folks with scrutiny. Otherwise, humanity never gets better. If we never challenged our own opinions, black people would still be slaves and women would be allowed to leave the house, and gay people would be killed.
I'm not saying you have to agree with me, but actually having a debate about it instead of immaturely saying 'I DON'T LIKE THIS VIEW BUT CAN'T ARGUE AGAINST IT SO NYEH' would be quite welcome.
The point is, everyone except Clem has people, who do not like them. But that does not mean all characters should die! If letting Kenny live will be unfair towards his haters, don't you think killing Kenny will be unfair towards his fans? I just do not understand.
Completely agreed.
It's more the fact that characters are EXPECTED to die in the walking dead.
And that is combined with the fact that Kenny has been every single episode apart from one.
Keeping a character alive just because people some people like him, which seems to be a reason why he';s survived so long with little explanation as to how, seems to be fanservice and is bad.
I don't want Kenny to die. I just expect him to die, like every character. And he's been prevented from doing that for a hell of a long time.
Forcing us to stick around with him is like Telltale saying 'You're supposed to like this character'. They even went down this road in episode 3.
When Kenny asks you if you trust him, you can say 'yes' or two answers meaning 'not sure'. There is no option to say 'no.'
Don't you think that, if a controversial character is to be kept, we should at least have the option of having different opinions about him?
Of course he's gonna die one day, just like everybody else. I don't get why bringing such an obvious fact seemed necessary to you? It's not like when I said "kill him" I meant a natural death. I'm talking about zombies and humans that could possibly kill Kenny, in case you didn't notice.
And it would indeed be pointless. Because Kenny's purpose in Season 1 was enough to leave his character there. He reached his peak and slowly descended to the heroic act he performed so you could keep looking for Clementine. But he came back, as awfully unlike as it was, and not only that! he came back and found Clem. There's a lot more for Kenny considering how miraculous their reunion was. Maybe fate? much like Lee and Clem, only difference here being that they both are more experienced, prepared and fitter to survive. Death by walkers seems unlikely for such characters.
"It would not be pointless as he's already contributed a lot to the plot " So that's the value of a character for you? How much they add to your idea of the "plot"? and once they're done, they must die?. Characters have endless possibilities to contribute to the plot, one way or another. Kenny's character was done in S1, wrapped up and ready to die until Vanaman changed his mind at the last minute. There was more in storage for him, so much more. And the fact that he's the only remaining character, aside from Clem, from S1EP1 is quite telling in my opinion. I believe his role this season is a demonstrative one. Show the audience that you can survive by being, flawed but consistent. Tough. Not giving up and following your goals no matter what.
The only character they've brought back is Kenny, and yeah, it'd be pointless in my eyes to bring such an important character from the dead just to kill him again. Let him find peace and shelter by the end, for a change! Surprise us, Kenny truly deserves it.
Anyways, I read some of your other comments and it seems like you hold a grudge of sorts against Kenny? as if it was unfair for Lilly fans to deal with him?? Dude, If telltale were to please the fans, they would not have killed Lee. They'll do what they think it's best for the story, and bringing Kenny back seemed like the best decision for them. I believe Kenny's gonna do something huge! and by huge I mean survive lol.
