Thoughts on the significance of the timeskip.

edited June 2014 in The Walking Dead

So I had thoughts about the timeskip that I conveniently copypasted from a comment I made in a buried thread to bring the theory to proper light and discussion.

...Maybe it is intentionally kept a mystery.

Imagine it this way: the skip was set in order to place a gap - a hole in the story shrouded in hidden scenes.

Later in the season, Clementine and returned Christa will reflect on those events. Depending on your whole adventure, the way you played Clementine, this story would be different. It would fill that gap of skipped time with a determinant explanation of what made Clementine the way you control her.

The more "evil" or "battlehardened" choices you make during Season 2, the more cold, cruel this story becomes. In order for Clementine to be corrupted to the level of your choices, the gap is filled with relentless misery porn, which will undoubtedly serve as a massive player punch. One could imagine that this would be like the scene with the Lee and the Stranger from Season 1 where he verbally wounds you with insults about your past "mistakes" of choices from the entire season.

How about that?

That doesn't make sense because your actions don't change the past.

  • I think it would be a good idea!

    EDIT: Dangit.

  • Well, no, but what happens in the past plays a huge role (and perhaps the only role) in determining the actions that you make. So it could make sense for Telltale to create that kind of dynamic in the game, in which how you portray Clementine's character ends up reflecting what she's been through.

That'd actually be a really neat twist on the whole choices mattering thing...which makes me doubt that they're going to do it.

  • This has now become the only thing Telltale could do to please me.

  • They could do that for the DLC because the episodes are already so short, I would prefer that they focus on the main story.

But I really like your idea!
