What if Reggie's fate was determinant?
So I had an idea of something that could've been tweaked to make the episode possibly a tiny bit better. What if your actions in the pen that first night determines Reggie's fate?
Basically if you decided to touch more than one thing (the fence and the door to the pen), therefore getting Reggie killed because Troy tells Carver that Reggie couldn't keep the newcomers in order. If you don't touch more than one thing, then Carver spares Reggie at the roof, but he gets set back as far as the newcomers as far as progress to being let back in.
What do you think? Would this have been a good change in writing, so that Reggie's character has hope of actually being developed a bit more? I just feel like it was kind of poor writing that Reggie was just killed so easily.

I'm kinda glad Reggie died, if only because his voice acting was terrible, I'm not sure if it was the script or just bad direction, since he's supposed to be a pretty good actor from what I hear, although it may have just been because his accent didn't really fit the setting.
Damn. Now that ain't a bad idea. As it turned out all Reggies character seemed to serve to the story was to show us what an evil bastard Carver was.
The thread that told us that there were no major determinant characters in episode three inspired me.
I lightly disagree. Reggie's voice actor may have been annoying, but I'm not glad he's dead just because of his voice acting skills.
well no, determinants are actually burden on storyline, their dialogues are limited and they no longer play any major part in episodes, this aint season 1 where determinants were actually relevent, look at nick and i even regret saving alvin from episode 2 because i wanted to shoot carvar myself so yea determinants can actually play negative role.
When Carver pushed him from the top of the building. I seriously thought that my actions somehow contributed to that moment. and it made me feel a slight guilt deep inside. then when I knew he was going to die regardless of our actions, I was a bit relieved.
Ooookayy...?
I think it would've liked him having a determinant status because, as you said above, you felt like your actions played a role in that and you felt sort of guilty. If he lived we wouldn't feel as much guilt.
He'd be dead by the end of the episode or by Episode 4
Three words.
Carley and Doug.
But who knows if he'd try to go with the group or not...
Yes! it would be interesting if he could survive according to our actions in the game. like Alvin in EP2.
double post..
Well I ratted on Reggie at the greenhouse so he wouldn't have lived long as a determinant for me...
Or it could've been he dies if you help Sarah and lives if you don't, so the whole "being a dick helps" thing comes into play again.
Well, that choice wouldn't really work because either way a large chunk of work doesn't get done, and Reggie was in charge of both of the girls.
This will sound mean but, I'm glad he's dead, not just the VA skills but he was the kiss up the whole entire time. He'd probably rat them out for trying to escape.
I'm confused. What do you mean by kiss up?
His only focus was pretty much to impress Carver so he could move on out of the outdoor area and he didn't see anything wrong with Carver at all. He may have been scared but I still saw him as an annoying character.
There's one line of dialogue where he says something like "once I move up, I can do a whole lot more to help you guys. Maybe even help you escape." So maybe he was extra motivated once they returned to get to a higher rank again. Or something.
They should of had a choice to keep him alive, and then make him die at the end of the episode ATLEAST!
OH, TellTale...
Maybe he could replace Kenny in the Beat Down scene and die but Kenny doesn't lose an eye!
But...but...then Kenny wouldn't be a badass pirate...
Hmm... good point.
I know.
Yeah that would have been neat. Reggie could've asked Clem to go to sleep, and you would have the choice to either go to sleep or help Kenny.
Anyway, if he died because you interacted with the scenario, there would be alot of dead Reggies.
Lots of dead Reggies.
I read that if you work alone, Sarah miraculously cuts hers. Is that true? I wouldn't know, I just read it.
Well, she does, but she only picks half the berries and she cuts live branches.
