I'm prepared for being judged, but I've never shot a gun... For one, barely anybody in my family hunts. (Which is weird since I live in a rural area.)

  • Don't worry neither have I but it's mostly because the country I'm in has very strict gun laws.

  • I live in America, and a lot of people hunt and use guns..

  • You can never be too careful with zombies

.45 kinda seems like overkill against rotting corpses.

  • Hershel's infinite ammo shotgun, duh.

  • True, but that's why I'd prefer to have 17+ bullets per mag instead of seven. :)

  • Probably a rifle with a bayonet, if that's not cheating ;)

  • Yeah, but it's easier to hit something with the single-action 1911 than the double-action Glock

  • But flamethrowers use a special kind of fuel not used in cars plus fuel doesn't last very long believe it or not

In the Zombie Apocalypse, it will be hard to find a steady supply of Ammo.. However there is tons of Fuel, for this. My favorite weapon of all time. FLAME THROWER. Best weapon ever. Burning things make me happy.

  • 2nd Amendment ftw

  • Why would it be cheating? It's the zombie apocalypse for gosh sakes!!

  • You should go to a gun store with a range and rent a gun so you can experience the fun of shooting one. I do it every now and then since I can't afford a gun

  • Touché, I'll concede the M1911 has a very light trigger pull.

  • I know a lot about burning things. i'd be able to make a substitute.

    A spear.

    • You can be more than arm's length away from the zombie while killing them, so you can hurt them before they can grab you, making it safer

    • It's a quiet weapon and never runs out of "ammo", unlike guns

    • It is light so it can be used swiftly and doesn't take much strength and endurance to use effectively and carry around

    • Needs less frequent sharpening than a katana or other kind of sword, whose edges dull quickly

    • Even if you miss their head with your spear, you can pin them with it safely so they can't reach you while you pull out another weapon to hit them in the head

    • Can be used as a melee or projectile weapon

    • Relatively easy to make from found objects

  • Me neither, I keep telling my dad I wanna learn to hunt but then he's all "You think killing animals is fun?" I play a lot of airsoft though and when I buy guns I only settle for maximum realism, blowback(recoil), etc. so I doubt it would be too different.

    • Also makes a fine-ass walking stick for when you get tired.

  • Yeah but if you catch a building on fire there will be no fire department to stop the spread of the fire. At that point you'll be at Mother Nature's mercy!

  • Yeah but sadly its kinda useless in close quarters and could get easily snapped in half if fighting against a human

  • Do you know what we call people who don't have backup weapons? Dead.

  • Lol yea but I'm just saying you're going to have to use your backup in situations like those.

  • I'll warn you now a rifle has a MUCH bigger blowback then any airsoft gun I've fired

  • Guess I'll find out soonish, I'm finally starting to get somewhere with convincing my dad.

  • i forgot, another thing the M1911 has going for it is that the standard .45 ACP round is subsonic, which would make suppressors a lot more feasible.

I'm the exception in my family, since nobody else is comfortable with guns. I'm also the one who kills the vermin that tear up our yard (but I do that with a blowgun and hunting darts).

In my opinion, anyone who respects firearms as deadly weapons and has the patience to follow the rules, should be allowed to learn how guns work and how to defend themselves with one.
