A way to solve TellTale's determiant problem
Okay, let's say in the next episode (this is not what I think will happen, only an example), a major part of the story line is for Nick to be captured by bandits, and held for ransom. Of course Nick is a determinant, so it wouldn't work for people who didn't save Nick. How about, if in the game for people who didn't save Nick, Mike replaces Nick in that storyline. They wouldn't even have to record a whole different group of audio clips, the bandits could just be like "We have your friend!" they don't even know who Nick or Mike are anyway. I've only played through part of the first Mass Effect game, but I've heard, if one of your partners who is vital to the story dies in the first game, a different character of the same species replaces them in the next game. I think TellTale could do this.

That just creates a new problem, because now you have Mike as a determinant character(I'm assuming whoever the bandits capture dies)

Not necessarily. Whoever they captured wouldn't have to die.
I think Telltale already does something like this. For example, the storylines of Doug and Carley were similar and ended the same way.
Yeah, but the difference is either of them could have died. I was talking about having a non determinant fill a determinant's slot.
(If he is alive) Nick can kill the character he is supposed to replace, and if Nick has died in previous episodes, the new character will not be killed by Nick and therefore has the ability to take his place. I also thought about this too, I'm glad somebody mentioned it on the forums.

Also, I forgot to mention, they already sort of did this with Christa and Ben, so they could do it again!

Well, my reasoning is I just don't think it's fair to people who saved them, that they don't get to enjoy their part in story.

I agree with you, but I think a better solution would be for Telltale to expand the storylines of determinant characters if you save them.
Of course it wouldn't have to be Mike, they pulled of determinants surviving in Mass Effect, with another character being introduced if the original dies.

In a story that I'm writing, with choices yes, it's not Tales of Europe, it's something unreleased.. When I make a character determinant I pass his dialogue over to someone who wouldn't have gotten much dialogue.. Let's say like.. There might be a choice between saving someone or not.. If he dies someone else gets his dialogue.. If he lives he'll have his dialogue.. So a person can either be the mastermind behind everything or dead.
I would love it if one of the determinant characters only was determinant in order to save another character down the line. For example, Nick could have been offed in Episode 2. Say, in Episode 5, Mike is about to be devoured by a herd of walkers. If you saved Nick, he will come in last minute to save Mike. If you let Nick die, there's nothing you can do but watch Mike die. Not really a choice, sure, but it gives more impact to a determinant like Nick than just to have him hang around for a while.
