In the Summer of 2013, I discovered TWD on Youtube while searching for new, survival horror games on "top 10 games" list videos. I already knew the show existed, but never watched it. What drew me in was the game's comic book-like graphics and having to make choices throughout a great story. And also because zombie games are just good. I discovered State Of Decay shortly afterwards too.
I found out about the game when a friend texted me about his excitement for a game based on The Walking Dead shortly after episode 1 of season 1 came out. I checked out the game, then started watching the show.
There is nothing wrong with being a pewdie pie fan. He might not be my favorite YouTuber but he doesn't deserve the hate. If it wasn't for pewdie pie most people wouldn't have been aware of TWDG.
I'm a Pewdiepie fan (PLEASE DON'T DOWNVOTE ME) and once upon a time I started to look for his long playthroughs that I haven't seen yet. I f… moreound The Walking Dead. I absolutely fell in love with this game! I even dropped a few tears in the end of the letsplay. And then I decided that I MUST play this game by myself. I created a Steam account, bought the game and played it. Even though I watched the whole letsplay, this game was still really interesting and I cried like a bitch in the end. I'm glad I found it because it made my life better.
Pewds also brought me back my desire to play video games, but that's quite another story.
I've been a Telltale fan since they first started releasing games in 2005, and bought every game that Telltale made. Although I'll admit that I wasn't interested in The Walking Dead at first since I'm not a big fan of zombie stories. Someone on these forums said that The Walking Dead was more about the how the characters react to the zombie apocalypse rather than the zombies themselves, so I decided I'd give the franchise a chance. I watched the first episode of the TV show, found that I liked the premise, and then I waited for the game. And when I played the game I found out I liked it quite a lot.
Was planning to get if for a while after the reviews as I love choice-based games. Then on December 25th 2012, the first Episode was free although I saved up around 20 Euro for it. Beat it in a day. Spent all my monies on the other Episodes and... that's it.
My friend told me about it, So the day after i downloaded it and to be honest i get scared easily, so the first 10 minutes of Lee getting into a car accident and the zombie cop got me scared. So i deleted it and never thought about it again. Until i was looking at "Old purchases" on Itunes, it was about 1.00AM on a Saturday and i just downloaded it and i began obsessed..
Watched Tobuscus making the worst decisions you can make and then freaking out about it, that led to the love of the comics,TV show and later the novels.
I discovered this game back in 2012 I saw it on the App Store (when it contained only the first episode) it looked pretty good judging by the screenshots so I purchased it. A while later after episodes 3-5 have been released I purchased them didn't play 400 days though.
I first caught the TV show near Halloween if I'm correct when it first came out. Saw the TV advert for the very first episode and thought it looked really good and decided to watch it from there and ended up going through the whole season.
I got into the TWDG thanks to Spill.com while it was still around. These two gamer guys did a 'let's play' for the first part of the game, and I enjoyed it enough to go seek out the rest of the episodes on youtube and got hooked from there on out. It's only by episode 4 that I decided to buy the game and played it for myself.
But in general I've sorta always been into zombie stuff with Resident Evil and all that, and I think it was the old survival thing TWDG has with that 'inspect objects and hear the character's thoughts about them' thing that I really missed from my old days playing the old RE games, which was a really big pull for me. That and they had the kinda dialogue quick time events thing I'd gotten hooked on from FFXIII-2 so that was a big plus :P
Good question. I just remember that I was excited and played the first episode on the day that released. Hell, I can't remember how I discovered The Walking Dead. O.o
I was a big fan of the TV series back when it first aired, and then, one day in between April-May 2012, I was surfing the PlayStation Store and saw a demo of the game, and I was like: OMG, a Walking Dead game! Let's try it out! The rest, is history.
I was a fan of Sam and Max and I bought the Humble TellTale bundle for Back to the Future and then I got bored and played The Walking Dead after remembering my friend recommending it to me. I wasn't disappointed I fell in love with the comics.
At first, I didn't know that there's something named The Walking Dead exists. I had just bought my PC and didn't know about many games. IT was Sept 2013, I went to a shop and Saw The Walking Dead. And there it all started. I didn't have to wait for the Seaosn 1 coz it was already out.

I've been with Telltale since its conception.
