A hug is a large area in a video game. A place where the player has free roam to walk around and interact with the environment. For instance, The Motel in Episode 2 was a hub.
I don't want any of those things (not that I opposed to them, but I'm not a proponent, too), so I'll just comment on the OP's choices:
… more* If it's different from Episode 3, then hell yeah. The way Telltale handled them in Episode 3 left bad aftertaste in my mouth.
* Molly was there to improve a depressing situation, a badass character capable of everything, bringing a little bit of hope to the group. I doubt we'll ever see her again.
* When did Eddie stop being a "400 Days" character?
* Can't disagree there, but, frankly, after 3 episodes without proper hubs, I wouldn't count on it.
* When did Nate stop being a "400 Days" character?
