Comparing Cultures

So since a lot of us are from different countries, I figured it would be a good idea to compare the cultures of our own countries. So since I'm from Australia, I'll show you some Australian rules football.

Feel free to talk about something important in your country!

  • Not so much my country but my region (I live in Pennsylvania, US). The area I live in is full of Pennsylvania Dutch (actually German) folks. Some even speak a German dialect as their first language. It's dying out, but most people still speak with heavy accents.

    Wikipedia Example

-American Accent: Don't eat too much, we're having cake later.

-Pennsylvania Dutch Accent: Don't eat yourself full, there's cake back yet.

Yes, I actually know people who talk like that. I only have a slight accent (my parents aren't natives), but it's still jarring to people from other parts of the country.

  • It's funny that in America, you can have a different accent and culture depending on what state your in, but here, everyone who has Australian parents has the accent.
