Which Characters Will Still Be Alive in Ep. 4?
SPOILER ALERT We are of course all aware of Telltale's infamous rule: If you didn't see the character die, they technically aren't dead. So who's still alive in episode 4 "Amid The Ruins"? I (unlike many others) really like Sarah as a character and hate to see her die, but last time we saw her, she was barreling her way into a pile of the undead most likely to tend to her dead father. This scene greatly supports that she is dead and the group's members are thinning, but why would Telltale kill Sarah? TTG has spent the past three episodes putting us in situations where we have to learn Sarah's emotions and use that information with our choosing. This means either 1.) Comforting Sarah in her worst moments. 2.) Providing tough love in efforts to help Sarah through survival. 3.) Hating Sarah and allowing her to learn the hard way that the world is dangerous. All of these methods develop conflict with Sarah and make her an important role in the story. So... is it that easy for Telltale to kill Sarah? Or will she return and earn back admiration? That is for YOU to answer.
Next we have Sarita. After locating Sarita in the herd when you're making your final march out of Carver's camp, you find she is grasped by a walker and is being bitten in the hand. At this point the game challenges Clem's belief in the effectiveness of amputation as they give you the option to either 1.) Kill the walker. Or 2.) Amputate Sarita's arm. If your choices in the previous game add up (or they don't whatever) you'll find that every scenario Clem is faced in which someone amputates a limb, it is unsuccessful and the person dies, giving Clem every reason to believe that removing Sarita's arm will not save her. So if you sense the pattern, Sarita is doomed to die whether you make the decision or not? So is she doomed? Or is this going to be a Nick situation in which two episodes after his near-death experience, he's STILL alive? You're decision.
Speaking of which: Our whole Nick situation. Another infamous rule of Telltale's is that "If a character is at the opportunity to die, and based off choices their death can be prevented, this results in the probability that that character is doomed to die at some point in the series to make sure all players end with the same outcome." Nick's "Near-death Experience" took place at the ski lodge in which (based on forgiveness) Walter is given the choice to save Nick or let him die, this is connected to the moment when Nick shot Walter's "friend" Matthew by accident. In some people's games, that is where Nick met his demise. And yet for other players like myself, Nick is still alive two episodes later! Will this upcoming episode be the time of judgement for Nick? Or will Nick make to episode 5 with a record-breaking survival time?
Well that's the discussion. Please inform the discussion on any other characters that may be in danger in episode 4. Off the top of my head: The other characters could be: Bonnie, Luke, Kenny, Rebecca, that dyke-looking chick that shoots Troy in the dick, and whichever of the other 400 days characters who MAY have survived the herd. DISCUSS!!
Comments
First off:
Not a fan of the word that you used there. Her name is Jane.
Moving on:
Sarah won't be killed off-screen. I don't think she'll last the season as her current struggle with witnessing the death of her father will provide a lot of the emotion this game needs. Telltale killed off Carlos, in my opinion, for the greater purpose of developing Sarah as a character. With her father around and not letting anything touch her innocence, she wouldn't be able to grow emotionally or mentally. We'll get to see how she responds to her environment now without her father's protection.
Rebecca probably won't survive this episode. I think she'll go out like Lori did in the show: giving birth to a child. This baby, however, will survive and add to the characters worries. Not only will they have to look out for themselves but now they'll be responsible for a newborn.
Nick, as a determinant, will likely get offed this episode. Hopefully his death scene will have a heavy impact on the characters (such as Luke) and will spawn discussion that leads into more character development. I hope Nick's death is heroic. Maybe he'll go out sacrificing himself? Or trying to protect his friends? Sigh. I love Nick's character. He has so much potential to be a complex character. Too bad he's determinant.
Luke will not be killed off this episode. In fact, I believe this episode will focus a lot on him. He's a deuteragonist and too important of a character to just be killed off without a lot of needed development. The writers have been teasing a choice of loyalty between Kenny and Luke, and we have yet to reach its climax.
Sarita is doomed. I don't see her making it through episode four. Jane will probably make it but will be like a Molly: go out on her own once she feels ready to leave again. Jane will probably take a liking to Clementine and teach her survival tips before heading off.
The red text is kind of hard to read.
I think Sarah is a cool character and has plenty of development. Telltale can be unpredictable tho.
I don't know why, but I laughed at that..
Sorry not sorry.
Wow downvoted because you are standing up to what is right and then giving your opinion.
Hahaha, it's okay. I suspected there would be mixed opinions but I really just did not feel uncomfortable with letting that first part go unsaid.
Double post. Ignore this.
Sorry for that comment wasn't trying to offend anyone. "short-haired" chick would've been better huh?
sorry. That was out of my decision the site randomly changed the font color and clumped those three paragraphs into one. Very annoying.
It's alright! It's just that a lot of people take offense to that kind of language, you know? But I understand you didn't mean to harm anyone.
Part of me says Sarah is dead the other says she'll survive.
I say it's 50/50 for her. Maybe she'll be determinant?
I was actually just trying to imply that her short haircut gave me the assumption that she was lesbian and that seemed like a good time to shorten my vocabulary. I was later wrong about her considering Troy was her love-interest but then again CLEM has a short haircut
That's what I'm thinking, which sucks as determinant fates always mean Telltale can't really do anything substansial with that character any more, e.g Nick, Alvin and even Ben.
Sarah has plenty of room for development, and it'd be horrible to see that thrown down the drain for the sake of player choices impacting something.
Well, I think Ben had really substantial character development. His role in episode 5 was one of my favorite parts.
I'm hoping Nick at least survives until episode 5.
