Is there any real point in Sarita's character?

edited June 2014 in The Walking Dead

I know, I know, dislikes coming in the way. But was Sarita's character made to be bitten? I mean, everything she did in the story alone was kind of always dependant on Kenny. As intense as the Sarita getting bitten was, I don't think the story would change that much without her. And even if Kenny grieves for her, it just feel like Duck and Katjaa getting killed. What I am saying is Kenny losing a gf won't have the same impact as Kenny losing a wife and a child. But I will see how ep4 unfolds, before I can fully judge Sarita.

Personally, I want there to be a serious twist and for Sarita to survive her bite, and for Kenny to slowly die of an infection in the eye. It would be a great way to make this character most of us wrote off as Kenny fodder turn into something greater and for Kenny to go out peacefully.

  • It's called rehashing old ideas instead of being original.

  • Let's be honest, what with the hundreds of thousands of games out there, there is always going to be rehashing to some degree. It can't be helped.
The only time I object, is when it's blatantly obvious the idea or ideas have been ripped off.
It's very difficult to be totally original these days and the same can be said for television programmes and films. How many times did Star Trek rip off Doctor Who or vice versa.

  • Do you even know what you're saying?

Season 2, from what it looks, is literally doing the same thing as Season 1.

Kill off Kenny's family to get him crazy.

  • I don't think Sarita was meant to fill Katjaa and Duck's void. She was meant a small sliver of hope for Kenny... A reason to keep on living. IMO, Episode 4 is where Sarita is going to come out as a character. She's on the verge of death, and is one of the most compassionate characters in the entire series. Remember that quote from S1E1: "People do crazy things when something is taken away from them." I want to see Sarita overcome this and prove herself to be a worthwhile character.

She's going out with a bang.

  • It's called fridging.

In fact, there was a whole website called Women in the Refrigerator (IIRC) dedicated to the rather disturbing phenomenon of killing/maiming/damaging prominent women in a story to provide character development for a man. The origin of it was from a Green Lantern comic where he came home one day to find a girlfriend... you guessed it... murdered and stuffed in his fridge.

Now, it doesn't /have/ to be women, but it usually is either women or children. If Sarita dies without incident, this will be the 3rd character (if you don't count Walter) fridged so Kenny can be a tortured soul...

It's never really a good sign when 80%+ of what you know about a female character is about their relationship with a significantly more developed male character. Which is a shame, because she seemed like she could have been pretty cool.

  • what if when clem cuts her arm off later she says to keep her away and calls her a monster how do you think clem will handle that

  • I think killing off clem would be the last straw for him.

  • most everyone cuts off her arm but if she looks at clem with fear in her eyes it might take a twist and make sarita hate clem at first if clem might runway from the group fear can mess with your head

    I'm confused..

  • He's saying what if Sarita/others called Clementine a monster/hated her for chopping Sarita's arm off. And that Clem could possibly run away from the group due to guilt.

Sarita is a fucking badass, and a sweet lady. I don't want to see her die & I wish she had a bigger role than Kenny's girlfriend. This will sound stupid but Sarita is my 3rd or 4th favorite character and I'll be really sad if she dies.

  • I do feel like she has been marked for death being Kenny's girl and all, but I enjoy her well enough I guess. She was really nice to Sarah at the lodge and she's been there as sort of a caretaker for the group. I admired how she refused to leave Kenny behind and yelled at the cabin group a bit. Somebody FINALLY admitted they were wrapping people up in their own bs.

  • Sarita is amazing, shes really nice and a badass she potentially saved Sarah by killing the walker near her and did you see her jump up and kill that walker? it looked really badass.
She also kind of treats Clementine like her daughter/protector, and i think Clem neeeds a mummy figure c:
So yeah her character has a pretty big importance and if she died i'd be sad :c

  • She wasnt insulted though
Kenny was all like "BITACH ILL KILL YOU TROY!!"
and then Sarita was all like "Nah its fine, i am indian"
