What about people who are used to death (ie soldiers or professional executioners) being the only witnesses?

  • Eh. I think witnesses are important. If the prosecutor and D.A can't stomach watching the proceedings then they have no business seeking the death penalty. Also, if done quickly and cleanly, it does provide finality and closure for the victim's family.

  • I agree with you there. Besides, when you mentioned how people can fudge up the math of hangings, you probably failed to consider the importance of computers. Computers allow us to be extremely accurate nowadays in a way whereas before you had to rely on a guy's mental abilities and a pencil and paper.

  • You CAN get used to death. When you see death time and time again, you become so desensitized it doesn't bother you anymore. Like you might be like Glenn after Irene's death (if you refuse to give her the gun) and throw up all over, but you may very well end up seeing a man with his brains blown out and say, "Oh, cool." in a non-chalant way.

  • But in the end, Carver spoke the truth. Would you rather have a society where we leave murderers, rapists, pedophiles and others together in a 6x6 prison cell where they will rape, beat and stab each other half the damn time, or would you give them some dignity and kill them?

Aside from locking up people for drug possession, why not assume the legal system is doing its job?

Don't really care as long as they keep it to themselves. The dignity of rapists and depraved murderers isn't a concern to me.

  • No, do you know who the scumbag is? The psychopath who actually did the crime.

I do, but only if we have hard evidence against them. Either footage, fingerprints all over the murder weapon and the murdered person, the killers admitting it, or something similar. It should only be for murderers though. Maybe they can get a second chance if they killed somebody, but in a painless way and are truly sorry about it. People say that we should treat them humanely, but they lost the right to be treated humanely when they stopped treating other people humanely. EDIT: Maybe for rapists too, or people who brutally attack people, but don't kill them.
