Have you ever been smacked before like Sarah?
I have many times when I was little. Mostly from my parents and a babysitter. It didn't really teach me anything other than making me more cynical and withdrawn. It's sick how people think they can physically attack you when you're defenseless for harmless mistakes that they've failed to prevent. There's got to be a mental condition for this behavior. That these type of people can just go about acting happy and like nothing ever happened afterwards is insane.

Just once for crossing the line.
Hell no, only smackhead child abusing mofo's do that. Way outta hand.
I think I was, like once. Oddly enough I'm the same Myers-Briggs personality type as Sarah.
All the time......
For a good reason of course!
Wow... people have actually had this happen, sue your parents for child abuse. Get 10k from it and then hit the road. Let them rot in a jail cell for a few good years.
Me too. When Sarah told Clementine, "I don't know why people have to be so mean. Like, even when I'm really mad, I still don't want to hurt anyone", it really caught my attention. It summed up the feelings I've always had after I got beaten or smacked. Telltale's sense of realism is scary sometimes.
My dad has done it when he gets very angry at me, but always apologizes.
What a nice/not personal question to ask. And id rather not answer it.
Oh c'mon. You've been hit too? Your like 14, I kinda understand if you where born in 80's or something but c'mon. The worst I've had is a smack on the arm. Jesus Christ.
Well, you should. For the longest time I thought the abuse was normal and acceptable since no one bothered to help me and I just had to repress my feelings. But once I saw how I made no friends or relationships with girls in school then I realized it was bad indeed. This forum is like the only place where I communicate with people the most now and feel comfortable making a question like this for something that's relevant from Telltale's game.
Id rather not share that info with someone I'm not very close to.
Well, I had worse things. My childhood wasn't easy, Psychologically and physically. But i found a way to fight back.
Yep, and I definitely had it coming.
Speaking from personal experience, I would haven been perfectly satisfied with these smacks instead of the punches and kicks I had to deal with.
Well it's obvious you have since your covering it up. Damn, that's to harsh.
Yeah, but it was because my sister and I were being dipshits and playing this game where you pretend to slap someone. Pretty much you go to slap someone, but they move their face at the last second and you hit your hand instead, making the sound of a slap. So basically it fools other people into thinking you just hella bitch slapped someone. Me, being the genius that I was, moved my face in the wrong direction. You can assume what happened then.
PUNCHES!? This is seriously pissing me off, everyone here so far has been assaulted! UNACCEPTABLE AND ILLEGAL.
I get smacked by girls all the time because I'm creepy 75 years old pervert.
JK, I got my ass kicked when I was 6th grader, I guess it's worse than just getting slammed in t face.
Worse, punches, belt, shoes.. But most of my friends were, so it was normal, we would just laugh about it. Still laugh to this day.
For reasons, stupid or undersantable.
Does not mean that I would do it though.
ive been hit in the face a lot but not by my parents lol they are great just other kids i fight with
You know, that is quite a rude thing to say/type. Not every person born this century (or in the late 90's) is a spoiled brat who has never been hit. Some of us (have actually been with belts (myself included) or slapped quite hard to the point where handprints are left. She doesn't want to talk about it and thinks it's a personal question that shouldn't be answered. Just because you've only had a smack on the arm doesn't mean that other people have. Sorry to be ranty, but I needed to get that out of my system.
There's still parents out there who beat their kids with belts and those wooden cutting boards. Gosh, I've never been punched or kicked by a guardian/parent.
Wat? How is it rude? I'm saying SHE shouldn't be smacked. That's me being a nice bastard. I feel sorry for you 90's kids too. So don't come at me like that, do something about it. Don't let your 6 foot fuckin' hench dad beat you down. File a report on his ass and get him done. Simple.
Got the belt once, but of course I earned it. That's the only time by a parent.
No one deserves to be hit. People have massive misconceptions about how to treat young kids.
No, my parents didn't believe in corporal punishment and I was a pretty good kid growing up. As for my stance on hitting children in general, I'll let Louis CK take this one:

Oh, okay. I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought that you were doubting the fact that she'd been hit any where but a slight smack on the wrist because she's 14, and not an 80's kid. I'm sorry.
But my father hasn't been like this in years and I'm not going to rip apart my family for something that's in the past. Now, if he does it to my sister at all (she's 2), that's about when shit will be flipped. Oh, and my dad's only 5'8. But he's like 300 pounds. Besides, I m not old enough to file a report.
Thank you!
You can file a report, don't stereotype yourself like that. You can file a report.
Well after being told multiple times to stop whatever it was I was doing, and being given numerous reasons as to why I needed to stop I didn't. So I got the belt, and I stopped. I don't remember what it was that I was doing but I was given plenty of chances and reasons to stop and I didn't. I'd say I earned it. Logic and reason failed so a drastic measure was taken.
I'm not pro child abuse, but in such a scenario I felt it was fully justified.
Nope. It doesn't. I can't say anything beyond that because you don't remember the situation. If you tell me the particular situation, I'm very knowledgeable of child behavior and I'll tell you why were you doing that.
Hell yeah, I back talked my Mama when I was younger and she smacked the shit out of me.
Yeah, but not in the face.
Well they should be punished. That's sick, some hefty kid thinks he can just beat the shit out of a kid.
no
I don't remember precisely what it was I just remember I was doing it because it was fun, but at the same time it was destroying something, probably a piece of furniture. I was like 10 at the time, and I knew better but I did whatever it was anyway. The only reason I even remember anything of this story is because I was involved in a similar discussion a few weeks back and my dad brought it up.
I don't know what exactly it was but just for the sake of argument let's say I was scooting a chair across a hardwood floor and leaving scratches. I know that isn't what it was but it's a similar scenario. Why do you propose I'd have been blatantly disregarding what I had been told not to do, knowing it was at the cost of expensive furniture?
are people really bitching??? who cares the way some kids are some need goddamn beating. kids need to be disciplined, yeah youre not going to hit them like they were fucking punching bags using closed fits and full force, but slaps, not so hard, and some spanking. hell belts are good as longs as they don't use the metal part. yes Ive been hit by those and disciplined by all that and guess what it worked. if I didn't have that I would've turned out worse than I am right now. I good and stayed away from doing stupid shit cuz of that fear. but is not like youre hitting children for the heck of it is when they do bad stuff or they don't listen to behave and have given them multiple warnings to behave. don't take this as hey my kid I do whatever I want, theres worse people that literally do worse, what m saying is set rules, theres many actions that have consequences and that's what they taught me. you don't like what I said good don't care, you going to raise ,if yall have kids, how you all raised kids and ill do and what ill do. and also to clarify as they grow older youre going to find that physical punishment, hitting, is not going to work that much. but like I said whatever downvote, fuck it
When i was young, I had some small racing car toys, I was About 10 as well, And despite how much did i like them, I always dis-assembled every little piece of it. Why? In Psychology, A child at that particular age begins to develop a very strong curiosity while they're still unaware of the superficial elements such as being cheap or expensive. They just want to satisfy their instincts.
Solution: Move them away and then lock the room.
Fear creates nothing but insecurity.
The guy above is a troll.
