  • Threads like this shouldn't even be made, honestly.

It bring up unnecessary arguments and also reminds others of bad times.

Then we have people pressuring others to tell them what happened, it's just absurd and unneeded.

  • Yeah, but only when I deserved it for being an annoying child.

  • stress her? yeah ok because he's totally interrogating this poor fragile little girl. get a grip man.

Just, Leave her alone, Man. You don't need to over-stress her.

  • you brought this all on yourself dont look back, ur the one who invited peoples curiosity by saying im not gonna tell you if i was hit or not. that makes ppl think u were hit because ur afraid to share, if u really didnt want people to bug u about then u should have kept ur mouth shut, its just common sense.

Look dude, your saying i was hit when i never said i was. I didn't think it was any of your business so i didn't want to tell you. Your

  • Nope,but I was hurt more once.
For some stupid reason - I decided to jump off a 2 story building into a pool,I ended up on the floor.

    I totally agree with you.

  • One time when my raid failed, and they captured me and tortured me.

  • I also agree.
    It brings bad memories up.
And it can also allow one's to bad mouth others, thus giving the rest of us a negative view of people we've never even met.
    And that is wrong.
If someone has a problem with another, the can have the decency to tell them to their face.
Only cowards, and one's who are mean-spirited, talk about others behind their backs.

I personally like to meet people, and draw my own conclusions, before I start hearing about the wrongs they done.

  • Yeah,my girlfriend smacks me in the face with the thickness every night.

I was born early 80s and things were a little different back then, I had a very normal up bringing and have had a few cogwinders in my time, nothing wrong with discipline..

While I was never smacked to the point of it knocking me off my feet (no need for that imo) I had a few , and for when we had been really bad it was either the cane of the dreaded belt lol.... now the belt... you feared, you never wanted that lol... I think I had the belt 2x but defo deserved it and never did it again I can tell ya...

Its different now tho, you carnt discipline your kids unless you want 5 years, and dont tell me its stops abuse because abusive people will do it anyway, biiiiig difference in abuse and discipline

  • Yeah, I was. Once. And I totally deserved it.
I think it was when I was about 8 or so and I stayed out all day and way past my curfew without telling my parents. They ended up searching the streets for me and when they found me and brought me home, my Dad smacked me down good. But even then I knew it was because he was worried sick about me and I think he was well within his right to do what he did.
I needed that, I think. I was a big brat as a kid and the whole thing taught me that it's important to consider more than what you want or feel.

In the end, I think there are times when kids need to be shown that some things they just can't do. As long as it doesn't cross over into abuse, I think a good smack now and then is fine.

  • Yep.. tacking your example there, if your parents hadnt have disciplined you there chances are you would have done the same again or worse putting you in danger, that bit of discipline could have/probably saved your life..

As kids we think we know it all and when you get a certain age kids like to test the line, let them cross that line and you have issues, its crazy that you carnt smack you kids hand in town withough a riot squad jumping over your back... kids these dzys are unruly and have zero respect...... well most of em, labeling them is wrong but on the whole I think kids need more discipline.

Physical violence in a family causes the family to break apart. Any type of physical violence causes relationships to get destroyed.

Sorry if you didn't see I edited it. If you have what I originally posted I would appreciate it if you sent it to me.

    If not, I'll summarize:

What I said was that sometimes it's basically the parent's fault for not disciplining their child with morals from birth. I stated that their are few times where being hit is justified but, that isn't necessarily always the solution.

If I'm wrong about what I originally posted, correct me please. I had edited what I originally said because I wasn't allowed to double post.

  • Ohhhi agree, some parents these days I wouldn't leave my dog with (not a joke)..

Also agree on the physical discipline, its only needed in a few situations, say if my son doesnt tidy his room im not going to physically discipline him, he just wont eat for 3 days............... only joking :P but you get my point,

put it this way... I remember every time I was physically punished, meaning I had done somthing pretty heavy/dangerous to deserve it.. the little clips around the ear not so much but but the big times I remember them all to this day, and without doubt its made me a better person because of it...

The main one I remember, I got caught up in the (im in a group thing) I was about 6 I think, at school there was about 8 us putting the boot in on this ONE other kid.... (im still embarrassed by this to this day lol) and I was one of the fools getting the boot in........ unknown to me my mother had just walked into the playground ..... not good lol..... she frog marched me all the way home via my ear and when my dad got home i was punished...... never did it again and it from that day I always saw it as wrong, even now in my 30s it makes my skin crawl thinking of that cowardly act I took part in....

Which brings another point up, when ever I was punished heavily I was always sat down latter and explained to why I was punished in such a way, wich I also think is very important.

  • Oh my god, that's awful. Don't blame yourself though. I can't see anything that makes it look like it's your fault. It seems more like the fault of the driver to me. But it definitely wasn't you.

I've never been hit. But my mom once beat the hell out of my brother when he accidentally swore. He zones out in class and his grades dro

  • Above all else I think sitting down and explaining things to kids is the way to go. My parents always did that with me, and I've always done that with the youngins in the family and they seem to take well to it as well.

Yep, kids love to feel grown up, treat em like this and speak with them you usualy get a way better reaction Imo, still nothing wrong with a clip around ear tho if its deserved, but thats where it gets sketchy aint it... when is it deserved, some parents will smack a kid spilling a drink which is out of order imo, this is the point tho its such a grey area...

But yea try treating a kid with a bit of respect and show you respect them usualy gets the desired result, smacking is only needed in dire circumstances, otherwise you just bread resentment in the child..
