Putting a determinant status on both of them equates to both of them dying in the long run. A difficult decision no doubt, but ultimately it wouldn't matter who you picked.

2)he still has a heart. he didnt want to kill carver because it wasnt very moral.

They would be both fatally wounded. According to a certain quote from the episode 5 achievement, it mentions how a person is going to finish a goal before dying.
My guess is Luke and Kenny are both fatally wounded, then we get to choose who stays with us in their final moments to help get Clem to Wellington.
As said in another thread ... - Kenny. He knows what has to be done and will go to great lengths to protect his family and those close to him. Doesn't matter if you like him or not he can protect Clem much, much better than Luke can. His morals are simple. "Family first, rest of the world can go to hell but we'll help folks if we can". That's how you survive a world like this. Luke couldn't even bring himself to kill Carver, the most disgusting piece of shit humanity has to offer, Kenny had the stones to step up and finish the job. And don't go on at him for it because what would you do with Carver? He imprisoned to group, beat out Kenny's eye, hit Clem, killed Regi and countless other people beforehand. Kenny did what he had to and was getting his own back. In all honesty what Kenny did to Carver would be a mercy compared to what I would do to him.
Also I'd like to add - Kenny has a experience on raising a child, Luke however does not. Luke is meant to protect Clem but all he has done so far is throw her in a shed and have Clem looking after him, makes her choices for her and doesn't give her any control over who she wants looking after her. If she chooses Kenny over Luke, he's all like "Duh, I've known you for a week, we are BFFs :DDDDD". And also, Kenny wants Clem to leave so he can reign hell on Carver, if Clem wants to stay he respects her opinion and treats her like an adult. Luke on the other hand wants her to leave and its final. Also Kenny took a beating for her, Jesus that takes balls. And also, Luke suggested leaving Kenny behind that very night after he stuck his neck out for her and in my case the whole group (I chose not to say anything). Kenny has the balls to do that hard thing and put his safety in danger so Clementine doesn't have to face the dangers of this world.
Kenny and Luke are both amazing...I don't know who I would end up picking. I'd probably go with Kenny. I just really hope this "pizza and ice cream" decision is actual pizza and ice cream, not picking between Kenny and Luke. Like, we find some ice cream and pizza and we have to pick which one we want to eat first. One can hope.
Unless Kenny turns into a total loony or manages to do something completely awful again (like the meat locker room scene), I'd probably choose him as we go back further.
