If Nick dies next episode, and you have blue eyes, you can take solace and be able to sleep at night knowing that if he was a real person and not just a video game character, you would share a common ancestor with him that underwent a genetic mutation

Sadly for you I don't think it does, back when humans first began and we were all scattered throughout earth, everyone had brown eyes, the reason for this is so we could see better when its bright out because early humans hunted at day and slept at night, brown eyes are darker so they absorb more light causing our Iris to take in less light which in turn reduces glare, however in our early days, one human who would later become one of the first ancestors of the Europeans we know today went under a mutation which caused their eyes to change from brown to blue, as this human bred with other humans, the trait was passed on, sometimes it doesn't have to show because the brown eyed gene could be more dominant in some people, however some brown eyed people could still carry the blue eyed gene, and on the other hand, those who did receive the dominant blue eyed gene had blue eyes, they're is no known advantage to the blue eye as of today but it is thought by some scientists that it could improve vision in the dark as the iris would take in all of the small amount of light in the darkness but that is not a confirmed fact, blue eyes are originally a evolutionary disadvantage but since today we don't need to worry that much about a bear attacking us or being ambushed by another tribe, it is more of just an evolutionary uniqueness

I've read everything and I just wanted to add something.
You said that there was a "reason" to have brown eyes, like if nature decided to make brown eyes for that reason but the fact is that there are absolutely no reasons (at least, that's why shcool taught me) to that. It's just that brown eyed people had greater chances of survival (you already stated why), so that's their bloodline which carried on and that is why there was a lot more brown eyed people.
Now that blue eyes are no longer a disasvantage, there are a lot more blue eyed people, because their bloodlines can carry on.
