Should I read the comics?
So I don't really post here often (I think I will from now on, Hi I guess) but
I just had to say that the last episode of Wolf Among Us was freaking awesome
But sadly with Telltale focused on other things from now on we won't see a S2 (probably)
The Thing is I love Fabletown and its characters so should I read the comics ?
Are they like the Game I know already that Bigby isn't that much of a main character anymore (real bummer for me)

the comic is great, but don't read the issue 129 ,that made me weep a week :=(
Oh yes, definitely. Fables is fantastic. And with it ending soon starting now is perfecting timing. Plus, Bigby is a main character of Fables, don't know where you heard he wasn't.
Plus I think there's a good chance we'll get a second season since this series done well, we'll have to wait and see though.
If you like the game you will probably like the comic.
Now, by "If you like the game" i'm talking about it's characters and the world.
Can you say at least who's involved?
Bigby,Snow, their childs, and Rose Red. Since that issue, their story plot to sad tone
How do you know that this series has done well?
And how is the story in Fables compared to the game?
Who else is a main character?
One Complaint I had with the game was that because it was canon to the comics
they couldn't kill of any of the main character and make it even more suspenseful and
emotional (I still loved it though)
So are the stakes higher?
You dont have to kill of characters to make it suspenseful and emotional. Not sure what kind of person you are but the whole game was very suspenseful and emotional all the way though.
Killing characters for the sake of killing them is bad writing at it's best.
If you liked the game you'll love the comics.
Bigby, Snow and Boy Blue are the primary characters of Fables. And the series did do well. Evidence? You guys. The series has hit quite highly in media and the likes, granted since TWD Telltale have become noticeably more popular and because of that, everything they're going to do is going to be in the limelight now. But as someone who was part of these forums before they became huge with TWD, I can assure you that with the amount of talk this series had, it done extremely well.
And yes, the stakes are much higher in the comics indeed. I never had TWAU pull me down because of that though, there was plenty of new characters in it.
The comics resolve the Crane question from the game. The comics tend to focus on Bigby and Snow. The other focuses or on Flycatcher, Boy Blue, Bufkin, Cinderella, and Jack, as well as Puss in Boots, Prince Charming, Beauty & Beast, and Reynard the Fox.
I would throw Rose Red in there, Frau Totenkinder, maybe King Cole and Princess Ozma. I dont remember Puss n Boots but there are so many characters and such a rich world. I cant imagine there not being a season two. It would be a waste IMO.
You're right on Rose Red and Frau, there is a minor focus on King Cole, Ozma's focus starts where Frau's ends. Puss was major in the story arc before the current one.
I will definitely pick up the first issue in the coming days
I'm just going to miss the soundtrack and the voices
By the way,is medy's truename is Medea?I remember mr.North called her so
Medy is most likely short for Medea.
Okay. Im a few issues behind.
Puss gave me a scare in Fairest.
Maaan that and cubs in toyland had me sobbing
Oh pal, don't make me recall it T_T
Pick them up in Volumes, there are a lot of Issues, and the Volumes contain 10-11 Issues each. I usually read them in the TWAU voices anyway, which works fairly well.
Yeah, I was just about to order volume 1 when I saw this thread.
They're quite good. This lead me to buy the first couple of collections, and they're pretty good reading.
Still, there's a lot of them, including a couple of spinoff series, including one for Jack and another for Cinderella (who's a spy for Fabletown).
The comic is very good. Although Bigby is one of the main characters, there are a bunch of other interesting characters who have their own stories and interesting personalities.
Sorry man
Bigby is dead in comics
No he is not . Read them all
I bought the first collected edition some time back and I wasn't too thrilled. It's very different from the game, mostly because the comic is just...older. Bigby is your typical male main character with a tendency of being just a tad sexist. Like during his very first case he tells Snow to leave the scene and when she flat-out refuses, he tells guy #2 (the blonde one whose name I can never remember) to carry her out if he has to, blatantly disregarding Snow's wishes, not to mention her abilities. Beauty is depicted as a bit of a typical blonde...then again, so is Beast. The only other woman I saw before I stopped reading was Prince Charming's fling of the day, who - naturally - was not able to resist the oh so charming douchebag and immediatly tried to sing her metaphorical claws into him.
Mind you, I don't know if it gets better. And if you don't mind the old-timey sexist attitude, then by all means, pick it up. It ain't my thing, however.
Bigby is not sexist. If I remember right, he wanted Snow removed because she was getting in the way of him examining the crime scene. She was too close to the victim and wasn't being professional. If there is anyone who respects Snow and her abilities it's him.
That is only temporary, unless vertigo wants all of them get thrown into the witch well
You can try to pick it up from volume 3,the artist is much better than before
His reason for removing her from the crime scene may have been a valid one, sure. I just disliked the way he went about it, you know?
Absolutely, I would start right from the beginning. I just started yesterday and I'm already up to Issue 11. The comics roped me in.
I had that spoiled for me too. Daredevil is also right. I began reading the series yesterday and let me tell you something, as soon as you begin you forget about that immediately.
I understand. Im not saying you have to like the comics, they're not for everyone. But I feel like you're portraying the characters as more shallow than they are. Beauty is no typical blonde and Prince Charming is more than he seems at first glance. But that comes from learning more about the characters as you read more of their stories. If you're really not into it, that's fine but I encourage you to read more and really get to understand more about the characters.
Yep and there's two for Cinderella.
I agree and Prince Charming plays a big role later in the series and is nobler than he seems to be.
Yep read them if you want to know what happens with Crane
Okay, thanks
Now I don't know whether I should read the comics :P
Of course you should, the comic has full of interesting stories, and I believe that finally the author will give us a happy end,you can read them from volume 3,that's where Bigby and Snow starting their love story
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes read them and read them now!
I discovered the comics after the first episode was released and they are incredibly amazing. The sheer scope of stories and characters on display is stunning.
The game did an amazing job capturing the tone of the comics but the comics are never....well let's just say they're no way as seedy as the game got at times (not that I minded!)
I would recommend at least giving the comics a read up to Volume 4 March of the Wooden Soldiers. Volume 4 is where everything in the story clicks in to place. The humor, the action, the drama, the stakes, the writing and even Mark Buckingham's art all hit their first amazing high note with volume 4. I was on the fence before Volume 4 but now I'm a hardcore fan of the entire Fables series (even it's sometimes middling spin-off comics)
