Clem Or Lee

Do you prefer playing as Clem or playing as Lee. I wish Lee never diead cause I think its funnier to play as Lee only cause he stronger and funnier to play, I still like season 2 but it would be better if you were playing as Lee

  • Clem all the way! I liked Lee, but everything seems so much harder and more dangerous - and therefore more interesting - when you're just a little girl. And Clementine is just a badass, hands down.

  • Eh, sometimes I wonder how playing as Lee would change S2 gameplay but still, Clem was the way to go with this game.

  • I have to say Clementine, the perspectives from a grown man and a child are varying :3

    Lee.

Playing as Clem ruined season 2, that's just MY opinion.

    FUCK YOU HATERS IN ADVANCE.

  • Lee for the simple fact that it felt like you had more of an active role in the story and in situations that determined your morality and what kind of person you are or have become. Despite being made to be more important than everyone else and a crucial part of making sure the group of adults doesn't collapse in on itself, Clem seems to just be along for the ride as opposed to determining how the story goes or who she is.

As an adult, Lee had tough choices to make and he alone could decide whether someone should live or die. Clem is more of a spectator in the things that happen around her (Walter makes the decision to let Nick live or die, Kenny is the one who decides to give Carver a sticky death, etc.), which is perfectly realistic given her age, but can also make the player feel like they don't have much involvement or choice, at least not as directly as before.

I feel the same. Playing as Clem, I felt like I really didn't have much of a say in anything. Often, I'd find myself wishing I were Lee so I could stand up for myself. For instance, when Clem was forced into the shack. Had I been Lee, I feel like I could've avoided that situation, altogether. Clem, however, is just a little girl and can't defend herself when it comes to a group of adult males, and one female, ordering her around. Then, when it came to killing Carver, I had wished I was Lee, again. Clem was allowed to watch, which I did, but not participate or stop the beating. As Lee, I think I would've done a playthrough where I stopped Kenny from going all psycho, just to save his relationship with his woman, who was probably slightly frightened, and another where I did it instead, for him attacking Clementine and keeping us prisoner.

  • I somewhat agree. I don't think it ruined season 2, but it would have been better from an older perspective. I would have preferred if Luke were the main character, and we met Clementine along the way.

  • I liked Lee best.

  • Definitely Lee.

I'm still not completely used to playing as Clem. I would've rather seen how our choices in S1 affected her character this season by playing as someone else. That doesn't necessarily happen if we're dictating her choices for her. Besides, Lee was just awesome.

  • Honestly, I find it fine playing as Clementine. With Lee, you had the option to be an asshole and everyone would hate you for it. With Clementine, you could be a sassy little bitch and no one would care! You wouldn't have a little girl there to be like "stp swerin srsly lee" because you are that little girl.

  • I agree in the sense that I would like to see more of how our choices affected her... But playing as Clem gives me the opportunity to decide how Clementine wants to carry on Lee's legacy. Whether she doesn't care about other people, and just needs to survive in order to make Lee's sacrifice worth it... Or if she strives to emulate the compassion Lee showed towards her in the first place, and be a shining light of humanity in a grim world... I can decide how Lee's epilogue is played out.

  • Clementine, for the reasons stated by Toxic Emu.

  • I like playing Clementine a lot, as I think it adds a perspective you don't often see in this kind of game. Not a lot of zombie games, or games in general, put you in the role of a little girl.

I just wish they were more adventurous with the idea. Too much of the gameplay feels like they didn't quite know how to handle making a game from the perspective of a kid. Thus, Clem takes on all the group's heavy lifting and goes around hacking apart zombies with scarcely less ability than the 37 year old man who once took care of her.

Agree with Wolf_13. Playing with Clem kinda ruined game atmosphere. It's became more girlish game(no offense). I prefer season 1 over 2.

Just my opinion but I think it was a mistake playing clem in S2... to mutch of a compass swing IMO, we saw clem as the one to be protected and I think there was still a lot of story to tell of her development.

I carnt get used to playing her, there are way to many times in S2 where im saying to myself "why am I a young girl doing all the work here" the escape from carver camp was all done by clem.. everything........ the bridge with luke........ come on people, this is a little girl.... lee would be turning in his grave, alvin when you cross the bridge sits on his fat rump and tells you to check out the cabin for supplies. ?. I mean come on ......

I never felt once like I was doing tasks when I was playing lee, I was just doing what needed doing in the situation (except getting larrys pills from drug store) it always felt that I was discussing our next move with kenny and co and surviving, not with clem.....

I mean I know time has passed but we go from watching clem coloring pictures in S1 to becoming some navy seal that for some reason everyone we meet carnt live without, everyone alive now has survived this long, they should have a good bit of experience living in a ZA, but we seem to be the only one with any balls...

It would have been much better to see clem progress and become a bad ass from another perspective (playing another character) watching her learn to dispatch zombies and coming up with the odd unexpected save, but at the moment everthing I must do as a player seems forcedmand heavily scripted and it never felt that way with lee...

Im sick of taking point with clem its just not right, again walking through the hurd on the carver escape I was hacking away like rambo on steroids and the rest are just saying "shut Sarah up", so im meant to babysit dribble jaw and be a hardened brawler...

Im not sure whats coming next, ?? We meet some strangers.. it goes belly up and everyone hides behind clem wimpering "do somthing clem, stop the naughty men" everyone complains about kennys rash decisions but if it wasnt for him clem would be killing everything.....

I'm currently leaning how to deliver a baby because ill probably be tasked with that in ep4 while defending the camp against a zombie attack and gathering supplies while luke and co sit on their fat rumps pulling faces at me if I dont tell them I love them every 2 minutes....

I forget her name but the girl u meet at the carver camp and tells u to smear zombie guts over u to get through the zombies, sorry I forget her name but I think playing someone like her would have been faaaaar better, playing someone who takes no crap and teaches clem to be a mean mother of a bad ass..

Playing clem at this point doesn't work imo.....

  • Ahgh! My head! Question... too... hard...

    (Alright, I'd choose Clementine)

  • CLEMENTINE. IS. VOLTRON.

  • I like playing as both but I prefer Lee. He was almost a complete blank slate so you could play him however you wanted. I liked being the leader of the group and it feels like characters can be more open to Lee because he's a grown man while Clems a little girl.

  • Of course Clem.Playing as Lee was fun but playing as Clem is harde and interesting , eventually , you are a little girl ... little ...badass .. girl !

  • I agree. When playing as Clementine, I felt like I had to make these choices that wouldn't change her for the worst, but with Lee, I felt that I could make some bad choices, and get redemption.

  • lee of course he is way better

  • As much as I enjoyed played Lee in S1, I seem to enjoy playing Clem more. I know you're gonna think I said that cuz I adore her, but I'm talking about in another perspective. In most games we play as a full grown adult, usually a male. But here we get play as little girl, who's in a zombie game, which is indeed rare. Playing as Clem means you will have a more difficult time to survive and how you can't always do everything yourself. You won't be able to make the leader role like you did with Lee, you just do what your told(kinda like childhood, eh?), but at the same time you can influence the group from the sides instead of directly. Take Nick's fate for example. It's harder to survive now cuz you no longer have the same strength to take on your opponents, you have to use your wits much more. Playing as her is also good for the other characters as they can possibly have more chances to have action(even though you still do the hard shit). Surviving the post apocalypse in the eyes of child is refreshing to me.

  • Ehh, I don't want to play as a guy who disagrees with killing a dog in self defense because it attacked, just too much of a goody little two shoes imo.

  • Probably Clem. Although I though S1 Clementine was adorable and sweet, this new Clem is strong and resourceful. It's interesting to have to rely more on smarts/agility rather than just strength (as in Lee's case). Also, I enjoy getting to RP as a kid in the middle of the ZA, since there's some interesting emotioanl/developmental things going on.

Clementine went from being the perfect sidekick to being a leader, and I love it.
