the phenomenon that is series 2

Ok we have seen many posts from on here with people voicing there irritation with S2, now before we start here im fine with the EP length, thats not my issue, my issue is the lack of character development and the like, im not going into the in's and outs of that here because as we all know its been discussed to death here, but ive been doing a bit of thinking (yes it hurt..... lots) and im starting to think all this has been for a reason....

So lets start with season one....

I think we can all agree it was epic, the story was strong, the way they got you to ride there emotional roller coaster, people who never believed they would cry at a game blubbered, different people had different views on different characters, kenny being the main one, what im saying is there was diversity in the story where one playthrough a character could be you best buddy while another player might hate that character due to there choices and how the story pans out..

Now we go to S2, we have none of that, every post I see on here regarding S2 characters everyone seems pretty much in agreement on the characters, its all very strait forward, so my point is this, is all this deliberate?

If someone asked me my overall feeling of S2 I would say I feel alone, there is only really kenny that is the exception to this rule and that is subject to how your relationship was with him in S1, so seriously whats going on here?

201....
We find ourselves with christa and omid, we learn almost nothing and bang omid buys it in the toilets, christa from then on is quite abrupt (understandable considering but still a little harsh) then we loose christa, now this is not a death or a presumed death (not forced atleast by the writers) we are swept away from christa, even later on when when clem questions the dying guy with your backpack about christa we get no info, nothing... and this seems to be a trend through to ep3, the dying guy could have been scripted to say anything, (we shot her/she died/she ran away blabla bla) butwe get nothing..

So strait away we faced with loosing the 2 people we know and are now alone, for the rest of ep1 we are aimlessly walking around a forest with a dog being the highlight of interaction, could telltale make such a HUGE mistake? Why put the player in this position when this game runs off character relationships and emotional links?

Then we meet the cabin crew in the forest, very hostile/offish from the off, and end up throwing us in a shed with a zombie, after which we still dont learn a lot in the cabin and there is definitely a the feeling of a atmosphere or atleast lack of.. we have a pregnant women in the cabin and there is no shown connection from clem regarding christa's pregnancy, nothing... the lack of hubs has been discussed to death but its not like the chances haven't been there, the cabin being the first major one..

Everything seems geared towards us feeling alone BUT clem isnt playing like a scared little girl feeling alone, its a strange thing, several times she volunteers to do dangerous things or stay and watch brutal things (or atleast the choice is there), there is only luke that seems interested in any kind of a meaningful relationship and as we know his reasons are under speculation, its not till we get to the ski lodge that we feel in good company, we meet kenny again and walter, at dinner and the xmas tree its the first time we feel we belong then that soon gets shattered with the carver ambush... where I might add luke goes AWOL, nothing is explained of his disappearance, kenny says nothing of how and why they got split up and neither does luke latter on...... we are constantly being held in the dark, and im beginning to believe this is all for a reason..

When we meet bonnie at the compound you can say to her "they never mentioned you", everything is very cloak and dagger atm with quite a lot going on but no explanations to anthing, everything is left wide open all the time, I mean the cans with clems likeness gets brought up and shown to us more than once, its all very strange how S2 is panning out imo....

No we are hearing noises that ep4 is emotional, in places atleast, now I dont know about you guys but to pull that off something substantial needs to be going on in ep4, there hasnt been any emotional deaths yet they have all been abrupt deaths with no emotional ties to said characters even omid was killed off within minutes of the start of s2, alvin was the only one where we feel a liiiiitle somthing....

So to close, im beginning to think all this has been a build up for a huge twist, there are a lot of open ends atm that we have no answer too, bad writing????? The more I think about it, if it was bad writing there would be glaring mistakes or bits of cobbled together story, but what im starting to see is a lot of unexplained and I hope im right in thinking e4 could be the best ep we have seen so far...

Penny for your thoughts?

  • We will definitely know allot more about Jane I would think, she seems like she wants to protect Clementine, which is why we see her in the teaser talking to Clementine about how she would go about taking down a walker

  • Yeah the season has been kinda strange.

All the mystery, foreshadowing, and some of the questionable turns of characters.

  • Kenny has been getting violent lately, we don't really talk to Nate much currently, Mike kills Clementine (Uncanon)...
