What do you think of the plan to head for Wellington?
When relaying the plan to Luke and Nick, Kenny spoke of fresh water, lots of land, and cold enough winters for the walkers to freeze.
Granted, having a large amount of land, and fresh water is always a good thing.
And cold enough winters for the walkers to freeze is an extra huge bonus.
And as any native of Michigan can attest to, the winters there are very brutal.
And during the winter, the group could go out and kill the walkers that get trapped in the snow.
At least within a certain amount of distance around there camp.
So that way, theoretically, there should be less walkers around their vicinity come spring.
The distance between North Carolina and Wellington is 854 miles.
On foot, at 20 miles a day, ( provided that the group could average 20 miles a day), it would be a 42 day trip.
And since walking is the most common means for getting from place,( Particularly in TWD), ones like Clementine, Kenny, Luke, Nick, and Bonnie, would be in very good shape physically.
Not to mention being pretty well armed.
So from those standpoints, I believe the trip is highly possible.
Even though the group would be in constant danger from walkers while on the journey, after 2 years, that in itself would be nothing new.
And in that amount of time, they've become quite adept at killing them.
Very combat tested if you will.
Yes, the new baby, and with Sarita being injured, ( assuming she survives), would make things difficult.
However, I think the group would find a way to care for them both.
All things considered, I think the plan is still solid.
Comments
I agree. After reading the comics I started to believe that big communities and safe places exist in TWD universe. I just hope they'll make it there.
cough Pipe dream cough
Sorry, but that's all I think of it. There's no happy endings in The Walking Dead.
I wonder what would happen if the group gets to Wellington only to find it's been overrun like Atlanta x. x
I'm very cynical about Wellington.
I think it will either be just as fucked as everyother place or it will have a community but it will have a tyranical leader (like Carver or the governor)
True, but maybe Season 2 will end of with some hope, not necessarily being a happy ending. Like what if after trudging through the thick snow throughout episode 5, the final shot of the episode shows them staring at a base of some sort occupied by humans? It'd be a nice cliffhanger, and not necessarily a happy ending either because we don't know if the community is bad or not.
Okay...how did they even HEAR about Wellington in the first place? How do they even know it is when people say it is? Well, I guess they should try, there's always a chance I suppose.
If places like the Hilltop Colony and Alexandria Safe Zone exist in the comics, I'm certain that Wellington has a chance at being a good place.
I think
BOAT! (Season 2 Edition)
The problem is not going to Wellington, the problem is who is living in Wellington.
BoatSeason2
You forgot about the Kingdom.
Ah yes! Completely forgot about that one for a minute.
The Wellington plans probably still their best bet. Its better than just wandering around and surviving in the wilderness for the rest of their lives. Although it might be better for them to find a safe place along the way and stay there for a while so Rebecca's baby can be born and then get properly prepared for the journey.
Can't add anymore than the OP.. (good post btw)
I dont know.. is the answer, but as you say the plan is solid and the way im looking at it atm is we have nothing better, it seems the best option available to us right now. So,lets get our walking boots on move out...![:D :D](https://community.telltalegames.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Here is what I would do in the group's position:
This is the current maximum size of the group, along with current conditions:
-Rebecca (pregnant).
That's a lot of people for a wandering group. My advice is screw heading up to Michigan in the middle of winter. For now, get out of the area's picked clean by Carver, and settle down for the winter. Maybe go to a small city with a forest (fuel for fire) and river (fish and drinking water) nearby. fortify a couple of buildings, and wait out the Winter. Then, once things warm up a bit, try to head north.
The other alternative is to spend the winter fortifying as many buildings as possible, and start up a small community.
Well, Michigan's largest city is Detroit, which is famous for being a piece of shit. The next best thing is the University of Michigan, but I'm guessing the public education system didn't survive the zombie apocalpyse, and even if it did, given the situation of federal funding for public education it woudn't have lasted long anyway. My advice, stay away from the Rust Belt. Period.
It is good thing if the cold can freeze walkers, but I wonder that brutal environments allow humans to stay in that place.
How about food and fuel for heat?... Do you guys think they can get or grow those things in that harsh environments?
Im not too sure how much it would matter where survivors go or how they heard of a place.. There is no way to tell if it's a good or bad place til they arrive. I can see the possibilities of moving north to cold winters having some logical reasoning but there's no way to tell if Wellington is safe or not til it's too late. If Wellington turns out to be a bad idea, just keep traveling til they find some safe place.
Wellington is probably going to be a bandit camp or just simply overrun by walkers. I'm just judging based on the achievements.
LOL yea I don't think we will get to wellington and find paradise, either way its gona be a shit storm, that we do know right?
Nah, It's just gonna be like terminal (TV-Series).
That seems a little predictable.
Yea "''''''''''''''''''''''''''
I think they might never get to Wellington, it could just be what Fort Benning was in the TV series, they just go from one pipe dream to the next but some shit always goes down and diverts them away.
You think there's hope in the walking dead? You must be new here. It's probably going to be a town full of bandits or walkers. The walking dead always finds a way to give false hope for something such as safety. Only to turn that hope into something depressing every time.
Yeah, what awaits in Wellington. Desolation? A group more ruthless than Carver's? Or finally a safe haven of new hope? Either way, there will be no going back...
It's just another Boat plan. It sounds good, but it has the potential to kill them all while they try for it...
you really are depressed today aint ya george??? lol
No I'm not.
I started playing the walking dead when it first came out.
Guess that makes me a veteran.
In spite of the fact that I've never read one of the comic books.
And quite frankly never will.
I've never been a comic book fan.
It's just not me.
Anyway, I got introduced to the walking dead through the videogame by TT.
Then I later started watching the show.
And yes, I believe there is hope.
Even after all the shit that's happened in the game!
It's all in a person's outlook.
And quite frankly, it's for that reason why Kenny is my favorite character in the game.
His tenacity and optimism are admirable, and they're qualities that I can personally relate to.
personly I would go to the most secluded place I could think of within reach and try and set something up, food and water I would find away around it would just be meds that would concern me.....
damn u yanks for whipping out the Indians LOL
I been drinking patron silver since 9am.
I'm good.
LMAO! good man good man!!!
Makes the weekends just fly by.
Kenny is just a BOSS.. end of story, I love him...
anything happens to Kenny im buying black ops 2453643677.... that's how strongly I feel
.... and don't think I wont do it TTG...... I will and you know I will....
Heading to Wellington sounds like a popular decision since even Matthew says "a lot of people come through here" on the bridge, but can we trust it to be as good as it sounds?
I just thought from the start ever since Christa mentioned it that it was just another place that is similar to Carver's, described as a sanctuary by Tavia, but everyone is prisoners and aren't allowed to leave.
I just don't want the season to end with the group arriving at Wellington, that would be stupid
Well thank you.
I'm glad you liked it.
As an alternative plan, I'd say that Grand Teton national park, in Wyoming, would be a good bet.
With a range that spans 310, 000 acres, it would seem to me to be a great place to settle.
It's got, good water.
Lots of trees for building.
A good population of deer to hunt.
A good supply of fish.
And winters there are quite harsh, especially since Wyoming is right across the border from Canada.
I'd actually say Wyoming, would be a better bet than Michigan.
Even though it would mean the group traveling to the opposite side of the country.
At 20 miles a day on foot, the journey from North Carolina, to Grand Teton National park Wyoming, would take 3 months and 10 days to complete.
Obviously, such a trek would be a monumental undertaking.
However, given the bonuses of living in such a place, I'd say it would be well worth it.
Personally I think the plan is a bit risky. Granted the cold and snow will slow down most walkers; but the the cold weather can be deadly now that they don't have most modern day solutions to keeping warm during Winter. We had a similar plan last time with Savannah, and look where they lead us. I don't trust cities, they're too crowded with walkers, the countryside is my safest hope.
It seems that almost everyone is heading towards Wellington, and for me, more people=more problems. So, no, I don't think it's a good idea.
Yay! I'm drinking too. Depressives unite!
