Ideas for new playable character?
Let's just say, hypothetically speaking, that in the 3rd season, TT were to decide to introduce a brand new character, and make them the playable character, instead of Clementine.
How old want the character to be?
What kind of backstory would you like the character to have?
What for you, would make the character new and interesting?
For me, I'd him to be an older man.
Perhaps around Chuck's age: mid 50's to early 60's.
I think seeing TWD through the eyes of an older character, would be interesting.
After all, We've already played as a middle aged man.
And we're currently playing as an 11 year old girl.
And to have him be a former Policeman or Fireman, named Jim.
With 30 yrs on-the-job experience.
And to have a wife and a couple of teenage kids.
And as a backstory.
Was on vacation with his family when the outbreak began.
Over the last 2 and a half years since the outbreak, Jim and his family have been staying alive in the George Washington National forest in West Virginia.
And it's here that Clementine and the others encounter Jim and his family, while on their way towards Wellington.

What about a teenager character? Out of all ages there doesn't seem to be many teenagers in the game. Lee was an adult and Clementine is a pre-teen. We haven't really seen the apocalypse in a teenager's perspective, then again they could do a time skip to where Clementine is a teenager if she survives this Season, which I think she will.
What about starting the Season with a flashback of the character's life before the apocalypse started? and the character's backstory determines who is apart of the group?
Interesting idea.
Having a flashback, of the character's life before, is also an idea I had, when writing this thread.
And it makes more sense, than to have the episode start out at the very beginning of the outbreak, and then skip forward 2 yrs.
hmm, i think i'd want a teenager, something in the area of 14~. i'm undecided about what gender would i perfer, i want someone...ben-like, it feels like Lee And Clementine never really screwd up in anything, somewhat annoys me, also, having the PC as a weido would be fun, not someone out of touch with reality or anything, just not normal, sings out loud for fun, wallking around with a stick, things like that(i happen to both of those :P).
backstory...ehh...look over there it's a bear! runs away
also, if we get a new PC i'd REALLY like for him to be a deadpan snarker, those are hilarious
To be honest I don't think I have played a game or watched a series/movie without a time skip from the beginning of the apocalypse to survival of the fittest.
I agree that a new character should be a teenager, we haven't really seen the apocalypse through a teenager's perspective.
We have Lee - Adult & Clementine - pre-teen.
Ving Rhames!
Bro, do you even Dawn of the Dead?
Like what Prink said, what about a teenager?
We've had a grown man, a little girl, but not a teenager?
I know this doesn't seem all that 'TWDish', but it'd be cool for season 3 to let us choose between playing as a male/female. Same dialogue choices, obviously, it's just that they have different back stories? That way, when/if we come across past characters (Lilly, Molly, etc) it won't seem unbelievable since the protagonist has no idea who they are. But us as the player, does.
Just a little idea?
I'm not basing what I'm about to say entirely on what you just said about timeskips, but people take the 16 month time skip way too seriously. At least it's not a 20 year time skip like in The Last of Us.
It wouldn't be so bad for a new group to come in to TWD for the 3rd Season, at least as long as Season 2 ends in a not so grim way, like if they find Wellington and a thriving community, then we have some hope and a possibility of the new group meeting the original group.
Yeah!
See, Telltale. We just basically thought of the foundation for season 3.
Hire us.
If Season 3 revolves around a new group, a flashback would be best I think, so that we choose the characters we want to form a group with, and perhaps have the option to start with a small group or a large group.
Edit: By this I mean the outbreak should begin sometime during the flashback and who ever we save becomes apart of our group.
I can see how the story would differ between genders.
I vote Tallahassee from "Welcome to Zombieland" for the PC for Season 3. Because we can get awesome hubs about searching for TWINKIES!
I'd like a 16 year old boy. But that's only because I am one
This game is R18... but I'm 16 too xd
I'd like a woman again. I for one get fed up of males being the protagonists in everything! She could be older, like you said, perhaps a farmer or something.
The experience varies from age and gender, would be nice if we could choose the gender, age and appearance of our character.
Females, kids and elders do lack being the MAIN protagonist in games.
Making a character would be a lot of fun, however I doubt people on here would be happy with it for some reason.
It wouldn't be that bad, telltale could give us a selection of voice actors for our character and still create our character's story
That would be okay in my eyes, but what I'm talking about is other people's reaction. For some reason, I doubt people would be happy about it.
Yeah you have a point
Someone like Lee or Joel from TLOU. I wanna be the leader of the group. I wanna be able to beat the shit out of people like Bigby, Joel, and Lee did. That's probably the thing that bugs me the most in S2. Not being able to punch or fight with anyone.
Not seeing that option "Fight him" "Hit him" or "Punch him" bugs me for some reason.
Well there's always someone who hates new ideas :c
That would be pretty awesome playing as teenager really like that idea a lot.
You can punch Luke
Here's mine

I don't think we've had a character like this yet
Really? lol.But he would be a nice protagonist
Well I was thinking that possibly the two groups would merge.
And then later, while traveling to Wellington, the group is attacked by a giant herd of walkers, some characters get killed, and the survivors are divided.
This of course, happening in the 3rd episode of season 3.
He's names Bruce and he's an orphan sounds like
BATMAN!!!
I'm not sexist or owt, but don't you find it more fun being a male protagonist? Idk, it seems more bad ass when you play as a guy. Or maybe it's just more relatable to me
I'd like to play as a teenage Clementine. Considering the fact that there actually has been another two year time skip in the comic. So if Season 3 had a two year time skip, Clem would be 13.
I like the character, particularly the backstory you created for him, and how you did so in such detail.
So allow me to do the same.
And tell me what you think.
Name: James, "Jim," Brennan.
Age: 55 yrs old.
Height: 6'4ft.
Weight: 200 lbs.
Hair color: Short greying hair, later shoulder length, with a bushy brown mustache.
Ethnicity: White.
Occupation: Truck driver until age 25, afterward became a Policeman, with 30 yrs on the job.
Family: A wife and two teenage boys, ages 17 and 15.
Bio: Two months after their 23rd wedding anniversary, Jim and his family drive up to George Washington National Park, from their home in Richwood, for a two week vacation.
After 3 days,, Jim and his oldest boy Jeff, decide to head on in to obtain hunting licenses for the family.
On the way there, the car up a head of them losses control, driving off the road and crashing into the ditch on the side of the road.
Pulling off to the side, the two run to the wrecked car, to see if the driver is still alive.
Having found that the driver is dead, Jeff begins dialing 911 for the highway patrol.
However, due to there being a weak cell signal, his calls keep getting dropped.
Jim begins inspecting around the driver's side, trying to find anything that will give him a clue as to what happened.
Hearing a moan, Jim begins to check the driver, when all of a sudden, the dead man lunges at him, but is held back by the seatbelt.
Jim, unharmed, jumps back startled!
Jeff immediately rushes to his dad's aid.
"Are you alright dad," Jeff exclaims!
With a startled look Jim replies, " Yeah I'm fine boy."
Watching the dead man struggling to get at them, Jeff turns to his dad with a wide-eyed look and asks, " What the hell is goin' on?"
Before Jim can respond, they hear noises coming from the tree-line.
Suddenly, over a dozen walkers come falling out, heading straight for them!
The two run back to the pickup, and burn rubber driving off!
Flying down the road, they come to a screeching halt, as an enormous herd of walkers blocks their path.
The walkers, seeing them, begin to approach.
Putting the truck in reverse, Jim backs up as quickly as possible, and barrels back in the direction they came.
The walkers they originally encountered are now walking down the middle of the road, and instead of swerving to avoid hitting them, Jim just plows through them, their body parts flying everywhere, and blood and guts flying all over the now dented front of the truck.
"Son, I don't know what the fuck is going on", Jim states, " but we gotta get back to the campground and make sure your mom and brother are ok."
When they arrive, his wife, Lara, and his son Dave, are outside cooking dinner on the grill.
Seeing the bloody and gut strewn truck, Lara comes running over to Jim, asking what happened.
Jim then relates the event to her.
After taking stock of what they have, which includes 3 hunting rifles and 2 handguns, including the one Jim carries on him, Jim and Jeff decide to head into town, to see what the situation is there.
After arriving, and seeing it overrun, they head back and report the news.
Unable to return to Richwood, after their truck gets wrecked in another close call with walkers, the family begins to fort up.
Over the next 2 and a half years, including 8 months after the events of season 2, Jim and his family effect their survival quite well.
One day near sunset, while getting ready to close the gates, of a wooden fence they had built around their trailer the previous winter, Clementine, along with Kenny and the surviving members of their group, appear at their front door.
Since you mentioned it, I gotta say I agree with you.
Actually, your comment got me thinking - there would be a lot of difference in audience reaction depending on the gender of the protagonist. Part of the reason I'm saying this, is one thought I had would have been a middle aged man whose wife and children were killed and going into the emotional burden of that. Unfortunately, there would be a very different reaction if the character were a woman, given the gendered expectations of the audience - where for a male protagonist there is the added element of having 'failed' to protect his family, women are generally not given the role as protector. Less so in regards to children, but consider 'a man who failed to protect his wife,' versus 'a woman who failed to protect her husband.' There are very different gender roles. While I'm not advocating that that should be the case - it shouldn't - the reaction of the audience would likely be different in the two cases.
I found this clip on the topic which is interesting;

If I hope if they did introduce a new playable character they'd be a blank slate almost like Lee was. Give us really dark decisions so you can play as a nice guy or an evil guy. Playing as Lee I could never get myself to be an asshole because I loved Clem and the other characters so much. I just wanna play the bad guy and be a complete asshole too people because I'm too scared to be in real life XD
jesus lol haha that's a huge one lol but cool and thanks
lol no
I do like the idea of a teenager. But I ALSO like the idea of a Bandit! Maybe he could be a lone bandit on his own, stealing from others. Then again that sounds a bit too far-fetched. A bandit in a group would also be good. With the rest of the group being main characters.
I don't want a new fucking character, it's either Clementine or no season 3 at all.
