Favorite Antagonist?
I'd like to state that my favorite antagonist made by TellTale Games is Bloody Mary. Now that we get that over with, this is strictly for The Walking Dead Game. (although I wouldn't mind your opinion)
1) My favorite antagonist of The Walking Dead Game would have to be the St. Johns.
2) They really had problems with the bandits and EATING people.
3) I think what made them appear so crazy is how beyond the edge crazy they were. R.I.P. Mark

My favorite TWD antagonist definitely has to be Carver. Even though I hate him for what he did to Kenny and Reggie, I can't help but find truth in this quote "Killing one, in order to save many, is part of survival. It's one of the tough decisions that a weaker person couldn't make. That's why it falls to people like us to lead them to safety."
Favorite TTG Antagonist? Damn. Very close tie between Carver and Crooked Man for me.
TWD: I guess it's Carver. He's evil, powerful and intimidating. Especially in his first appearance, doesn't hurt to mention Michael Madsen's graspy voice of him is perfect for the messed up character he is. But like everyone else, I think he was killed off too early. He looked like a long term season antagonist with how many times he was mentioned prior to first meeting him.
Telltale: Sam & Max Season 3's main antagonist. Whom was quite brilliantly done and was a very, very surprising twist.
Nate. He has a sort of moral code that isn't really defined, but it is there:
He is charismatic, in a weird sort of way. There would never be a dull moment in a group with him. If you can get him to stop screwing around, he is a very capable survivor.
He's an amazing antagonist. I really hope we see him in season 2.
Carver is my favorite definitely. He is the most brutal and aggressive. His presence alone just in A House Divided was unsettling enough, then he goes full rage made (Which I loved btw) in Episode 3.
Mine would have to Carver, although I also thought Edna Strickland was a good antagonist in the Back to the Future game.
Really? I couldn't stand Edna, thought Kid Tannen was far superior. You could also TECHNICALLY say the 1986B Emmett was an antagonist, and a scary one at that. The thought of having Doc as an antagonist was scary especially when he was the one who had the DeLorean.
Carver was not developed enough for me. He had so much potential but they killed him off too early. But I have to say the St. John family was my favorite antagonist, because the thoughts of cannibals in a zombie apocalypse not only has a weird sense of irony to it but a sense of creepiness weird to describe. Favorite Telltale villain in general would be Bloody Mary though.
You get my point ! They're so creepy, but you gotta do what you gotta do
Carver.
Completely determinant by how you played season 1, but Kenny would have to be my favorite antagonist.
Bear in mind that antagonist does not equate to villain. It is simply a character who is against the goals of the protagonist. Piss Kenny off, and he will work against you.
As for why I like him, he's a deep character with understandable and respectable motivations. He's the type I can agree with in principle but oppose in practice. There's always the thought in the back of the mind that they can be won over. Enemies turned friend are usually some of the best friends you can ever have in a story.
Of course, you could always have Kenny be a friend from start to finish and completely steal my fun...
I like you're thoughts, I really did like Nate as well.
I don't think I have a favourite antagonist in TWD, to be honest....although I loved the cannibal family in Season 1 Episode 2. Not because I liked THEM, but because the situation was hella suspensful and I was just waiting for shit to hit the fan the whole time. Man, THAT was a damn good episode.
(Also, I agree with you about Bloody Mary.)
True enough
The St. Johns
Carver wasn't really expanded on though he was very intimidating and the Stranger. Well he was not a good antagonist, his motivations were a bit...odd. But that can be overlooked.
The St. Johns however tricked you. They dropped clues all over, and pretty much laughed at the players who still believed they were simple farmers and that maybe the climax is the "Fence runs out of juice and walkers attack". But no they tricked many players and when players found out the truth, we were shocked. Plus they almost killed Lee, Duck, Katjaa and caused the deaths of Mark and Larry. That is placing FIVE people at risk in your group of ten and that's if you count Ben! That is half the group almost dead or are dead because of them.
Carver killed Reggie and caused the death of Alvin and Carlos. That is three people in your group of ten (If you count Nick as well, and this is without counting Rebeccas baby, Jane, Bonnie or Mike!)
The Stranger caused the death of Ben, and Lee. That is in your group of six. That's still not half your group and he never directly murdered someone.
Never played any other TellTale game (yet) so I'll just answer the TWD one. My choice goes to... The Save Lots bandits. Let me explain...
Despite being a dumb bunch of punks hiding out in the forests, they were a frightening force to be reckoned with. They caused a lot of heartache, even if it was inadvertent. They caused the fall of the group's home for three episodes, were the cause of the deaths of Duck, Katjaa, and arguably Carley/Doug, turned Ben against the group which led to more heartache, and from the unreleased audio and Jolene's condemnations, were a pack of immoral assholes who enjoyed the pain they brought to others.
What I like about them is that there's no bullshit. There's no hypocritical railing against thieves like with Nate, there's no egotistical justifications like with Carver, there's no pushing blame onto others for one's own mistakes like with The Stranger, and there's no justifying evil actions because of "survival" like with the St. Johns (and Carver again, too). Ain't nobody making excuses or apologies for these assholes, and that's good. These worthless fucks take for themselves and don't try to play any morality games. They also have no loyalty to one another, as seen by the masked dude straight up killing one of his fellow jackasses because he wouldn't share what couldn't have been much food to begin with. There's also the very high possibility that they knew exactly what they were getting from the St. Johns in the way of food, and didn't give a damn.
I have respect for pure, unrestrained, and indefensible craziness (in fiction, of course :P). And the worst part of it is, these guys represent exactly what some people become when everything falls apart. Not all the evil people become leaders of manipulated communities where they lie their ass off to justify their actions. Some of us would just go mad and desire to hurt others. You can win trust with evil leaders; you can never be safe with backwards psychos.
Totally agree. He's so unreliable and it makes his character so much more interesting, you really can't tell what he'll do next.
Crawford Oberson.
I don't see the St. Johns as antagonists. I see them as a broken down family that has to eat people to survive.
Absolitely Carver!!
He's the best antagonist of the game
A common opinion, now that's what I like to see!
Carver from Episode 2. He was awfully creepy but at the same time very charismatic. I didn't know if I fear him or I love him. And that voice... Jesus. Sadly, they made him just a stupid sadist in Episode 3. Very disappointing.
Id say Bad Lee from season one.
Seriously if you play him this way he is really bad but not stereotype which is interesting and it can be hillarious too. He kills people in cold blood, bullies them, intimidates and threatens people, he can be ignorant and nasty to Clementine and he can be a complete asshole to Kenny about not saving Shawn and that has so much depth it goes on all the way up to episode 3 when Duck is dying.
So yeah id say Lee.
@Gary Oak
Oh gosh, the Cancer patients... that was horrible ;-;
St. Johns definitly
Told you he could be bad.
The Stranger was definitely the most well written and complex antagonist. What I like about him is that fact that depending on how you play Lee, he can be completely justified or not as justified. He and his family were just trying to survive, just like Lee's group, but then the group stole and completely ruined them, which caused his wife to take the daughter and leave (which caused their deaths). If you mess up on two of the QTEs, right before he shoots Lee in the head, he actually says "I'm sorry."
The St. Johns were just the token cannibals in an apocalypse story. Carver had the potential to be an interesting and maybe even complex villain, but they completely fucked it up in episode 3 (like they did with a lot of things). I find Nate too annoying, to be honest. The bandits were rapists and murderers. They were complete scumbags, but not interesting to me. I say the Stranger is my favorite TWDG and overall TTG antagonist. I like antagonists that I can feel sorry for.
WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH..... Is everyone forgetting what the stranger's done?
1: Reason Lee is dead
2: Reason Kenny/Omid and Christa got separated from each other
3: Kidnapped Clementine
4:
Eddie is my fav antagonist
He is funny , i like him even more than Wyatt ! I want him to be part of our group , and meet Clementine
...I'm very confused right now.
not sure if Nate counts but i'd give it to Nate
The Stranger. The fact that a normal person could become so invested in the concept of revenge and redemption after they lose everything really fascinates me. It's the same reason I loved Ulyssses from Fallout New Vegas.
It would be interesting to see Season 1 from The Stranger's point of view. At the end of the day he's really an anti-villain. He came off as super creepy through Lee's eyes, but I bet if we saw the story through his, we'd see a lot of humanity and a very different perspective on how everything went.
