What would you do at the start of the apocalypse?
I'm just interested to know what you guys would do if an actual zombie apocalypse began (Btw sorry if there is already a thread about this).
As for me, I would probably stockpile some rations and equipment and probably search for my friends.
Also, where would you build your base? I would build a temporary base near my house, since I know my town very well and there is a pharmacy and supermarkets close by. I think it would be best to build an actual base in the countryside so you can raise animals for provisions and grow lots of plants.
Another thing, if you came across a stranger who asked you for help what would you do? I would invite the stranger to join my group if I feel like they are trustworthy, the more people you have the more you can do.
Also, what would your job be in the apocalypse? Leader, Scavenger, Hunter, Builder, Farmer, Doctor... etc.?
One last thing I'd like to ask is... if you created your own base and built your own community and someone else tried to take place as the new leader what would you do?

What would I do at the start of apocalypse?
Optimistically: join a group, learn some new skills that would help me survive, live for a long time, till I die of old age.
Realistically: die and reanimate.
I'm just joking.I'd either loot a gun or find someone to r34 up
At the start I have my family with me so if miraculously we survived so long it would be a good thing.
If they die after a couple of month and surprisingly I stay alive i would probably fend on my own and just loot and hide.
I would use the short time at the begining of the apocalypse where phone lines haven't been cut off yet to meet up with as many of my family members and prepare by boarding up my nans house (the biggest and most secure house) to stay safe for a while, maybe doing some supply ones if we last a while.
After my family dies though? Realistically i would probably commit suicide. I doubt i could cope in a fucked up world without anyone.
Go find my family, first of all. Though if I'm too far away at the time of the outbreak, I'd first get my flatmates. We'd go and raid the town, looking for weapons and supplies. There's a fishing and hunting store in the next town, so we might drive there first. Then we'd hole up in the boiler room. It's underground and there's only one entrance, so it's very easily defendable, if the zombies even get that far. We don't live in a big city, so that's good.
If push comes to shove, there's an underground bunker around here somewhere left over from WWII, so that'd be pretty ideal if we manage to get the door open.
Though if I'm realistic, I know I'd die pretty fast, since I don't have any special skills and my physical fitness is rather lacking. Hell, I'd probably just off myself at the first sign of trouble.
Probably die; quickly because of the walkers or slowly as the lack of medicine grinds away at my body. Cheery, I know.
Until then, I could probably be of some use. I'm no doctor, but I have pretty extensive first-aid training from scouts and venturing. I'm probably not going to bring you back from a heart attack or something, but I can do stitches, set bones and treat simple stuff like food poisoning, heat exhaustion, infections, etc. I could to the basic stuff or assist a more qualified doctor, if there is one. Still, I might be done the first time I get a fresh amputee; the goriest think I ever had to deal with was a compound fracture and I had to go off the side of the road and puke afterwards.
Find Clementine. Duh
Die.
What he said
I guess I'd be okay on weapons and clothes at the beginning. Only thing left is having enough to eat and drink, so I'd buy as much stuff as I can get at the first notion of a violent attack. Next, I'd barricade myself at home and wait how it works out.
I guess I would probably end up dying too, I am just a background character in the game that is life :2
I know its stupid to go on a big city but some little building is stick to others building and if you have a ladder you can go to the top on this (the best building have no enter to go up) you are protected by zombies, you can save people, you can serch for supplies into the town...etc...
I would take off my underpants and wear them on my head, because that's how broad this question is.
First order of business: Well, obviously means of defense and provisions are important, and yes, clothes, you only forget your clothes in dreams. So I'll interpret the valid answer as apart from gathering up supplies and such. Family. Friends. I'd go find people I know and trust. From there, location provides itself in the form of the nearest, vacant-to-not-so-vacant safe building.
Base location: Wouldn't you like to know?
Strangers: I'm not a very good judge of character. I would defer to the wisdom of someone smarter in my own group unless the stranger isn't obviously lying, eg looks starved, wounded, etc. As for whether he joins, it kind of depends on the situation with resources.
Job: pig. I'd be big fat, lazy, meth-addicted pig. Farmer, actually, now that I think of it(not a jab)
New management: It's highly unlikely that anyone would look up to me enough to give me authority. If it so happens that I were in charge of something, and someone tried to move in? If they weren't better at it or they were an apocalypse asshole trying to take over status as leader of the group? Depends on how much power they have. If they're just one guy moving in, I'd probably shoot 'em. If they were to powerful to face even with the community backing me, I'd probably organize an evacuation with whatever supplies we can carry and try to set up somewhere else.
1) rob my local drug store
2)rob my local hunting store
3)rob my local camping store
4)die from being shot doing all 3.
Depends:
Where I'm living now: Well, a dense city of over 10,000,000 - cry and die. Hope I can get to the market and take a couple of cans of spam and tuna and defend the small staircase before starving to death.
Hometown: go to nearest farm (which isn't far). And try and get people together for a community. If needed eat the cows and sheep. It's changed a bit, but they used to all be oreo cows. Any cow that isn't oreo, dies first. It's anti-non-oreo genocide.
I'm female.
What she said
I think i would sit and play my guitar, think about the people who are dead. The realization that everyone you know is probably dead would hit me with a case of depression for a while. Eventually i would get over it, but not after many nights of "Self medication". I would do what it takes to survive. Probably end up dying trying to save a lost cause.
I have a soft spot for lost causes.
Steal all the lotion in the local area. Why, you ask? Why?!
"Gotta keep moist. We absolutely have to".-Lee Everett
Find a boat.
Me gather my family and probably die the next day.
Or find Clem and her group lol. I like the second one better
Find a tree house and hold up there untill a convicted "urban" man comes along.....
Find a competent young girl in a treehouse and get started on my GOTY-winning story.
I would wait a few days in my house and i would tell people i care to do the same, why? Most people will try to flee and it would be harder to do that while everybody is trying to do it, everything would be stuck and it would be a mess, when things calm down a little bit i would go to my gf house with my family, it has streets wich can be easily blocked with trailer boxes, would be hard to get them though but if it works it would be an awesome base. Im not an awesome survivor but i trust and know i can do it, if not ill die trying.
Drugs, hunting and camping all-in-one general store! Clerk at a place like that? Dream job!
Kill people. Take their stuff.
...You don't know the goddamn half of it...
Bit like Chuck, then?

Play with Walkers
1.) Steal an axe and a swiss army knife from Wal-Mart.
2.) Grow a beard.
3.) Become a mountain man.
4.) ????
5.) Survival
looks at dislikes exactly why I made this comment
Sit back and wait it out. The army would do it's thing, and the whole thing would just blow over. Walkers are slow, stumbling, impulsive, and has the IQ of children, so all you gotta do is be careful and you could just walk right through them.
Those that have seen Barbara's strategy for handling zombies in the Tom Savini Remake of Night of the Living Dead knows what I'm talking about.
First Step: Pack heavy clothes for cold weather and somewhat light clothes for the hot weather. Then, I'd pack lots of canned food and bottled water. After that, I'd try to get in contact with my family members.
Second Step: I would try to get a weapon. My neighbors across the street have lots of guns and hunting supplies, so I'd see if I could get some things from them. After that, I would put all of the things I have collected and put it in a car(s) and leave my neighborhood with all the people I'm with.
Third Step: (The good thing about where I live, is that it's a rural area, there's not many people but there are a lot of supermarkets near by.) I would quickly go through a supermarket and get supplies if I can.
Fourth Step: I'd go to my uncle's home in the middle of the woods. The good thing is, is that there are barely any people who live around him, and the people that do live around him are Amish. Also he grows lots of vegetables and fruits, and he also has lots of canned stuff.
Backup Plan: Do the first step of my plan, after that I would go to my brother-in-law's camp. It's a large place in the middle of the woods. There aren't many people there. They have lots of guns there, and there is a pond where you can go fishing. They also have LOTS of canned stuff. The only bad thing is that the camp is about 30 miles away.
I don't really know if the plan would work or not. But, oh well. Hopefully I wont reanimate.
I would turn to my wall take my swords get to my basement get my glock and ammo out of the gun box get in my car drive to the dock get in my boat and sail to an island 100 miles southeast and live there hunt and fish
That is so strange,
I never thought of it that way, yeah you are right.
