My Timeline of TWDG
Alright, so this was buzzing around in my head and I'd thought it be best to post it.... Anyway, this is a timeline with approximate months and years based on information found in both the game and comic and/or confirmed by Robert Kirkman or Telltale.
So let me get started:
wall of text! brace for impact!
Episode 1, Season 1: A New Day takes place in around late August/early September, 2003. Now this is the most important bit, considering that this date is what the entire timeline will revolve around. Anyway, I believe it's late August/early September of 2003 because of stuff like the warm-weather clothing (Clem's dress, Doug's T-shirt and shorts, Katjaa's blouse, et cetera), Clem's pool being covered up (as seen here) and Clementine saying that she's in first grade (at 8 years old)[1]. The year 2003 is the date that Robert Kirkman has said is the beginning of the ZA. And this is added to with the CRT TV's, which would've been a lot more commonplace in 2003 than here in 2014.
Episode 2, Season 1: Starved for Help therefore takes place around late October/early November. "3 Months Later" defining the date. Everyone is wearing thicker clothing for the colder weather, and Kenny warns Lee, if he doesn't agree to taking the stuff, that "it's going to get cold soon" or something along those lines.
Episode 3, Season 1: Long Road Ahead takes place a week(?) after Starved for Help.
Episode 4, Season 1: Around Every Corner takes place around two days and three nights after Long Road Ahead, given that the sun is setting at the end of Episode 3 and it's morning in Episode 4.
Episode 5, Season 1: No Time Left takes place about one day and one night after Episode 4.
400 Days: Vince's story takes place around the same time as A New Day. Jerry complaining about the heat adds to the late August/early September theory. Wyatt's takes place 41 days, which is basically a month and 10 days (since we're assuming late August/early September beginning) after Vince's story, so it'd be around late September/early October. Russell's story (which is next chronologically) takes place 184 days after Wyatt's story. That would place the story around 6 months after the Apocalypse, which would be around late January/early February. Bonnie's story takes place 220 days after, which would be 31 weeks or 7 months after the Apocalypse, or late February/early March. Shel's story takes place around 236 Days and 259 Days after, which would be 33 weeks or 8 months and 37 weeks or 9 months after the Apocalypse, respectively. That would place Shel's story around late March/early April and late April/early May. The epilogue with Tavia is 400 days after, which would be around 14 months or 1 year and 2 months after. This would mean that the titular 400 Days is around late September/early October, 2004.
Episode 1, Season 2: As far as the intro goes, we have to go by Christa's pregnancy with this one. Assuming she found out when her period didn't come, which would be about 28 days (practically a month), she would've been pregnant since late September/early October. Assuming she had the average timespan, she had her baby 9 or 10 months after October, which would mean she had her baby around late June or early July, 2004. This would mean that Gil's Pitstop had been recently abandoned when Clem and co arrive. 16 months pass, which would mean that the date for the rest of Episode 1 is September or October, 2005. Since we're dealing with North Carolina, which is naturally colder than Georgia, it should be normal for the colder weather.
Episode 2, Season 2 takes place between one day and five days after Episode 1, S2 ends. The weather is getting colder in Virginia, naturally.
Episode 3, Season 2 takes place one to three days and nights after Episode 2 ends.
So that's all I got for now! If you have comments, questions or criticisms, let me know!
[1] Since she's born in October or November, according to my calendar, it's probably nothing out of the ordinary.
Comments
Doesn't Episode 5 take place straight after Episode 4? It could just be that I read that part wrong xd but good job with this timeline, it was a pleasure to read! Hope you add more as the episodes roll in.
I meant that one day and one night passed in Episode 4 leading to Episode 5. But yeah, thanks bro.
Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up!
You missed a day between EP2 and 3 of S2.
The events with Carver at the lodge take place at night or late evening. EP3 start at daytime. We see them sleeping 2 nights in the yard and on the third night they escape.
Shit. Thanks Gunab! bows down in reverence and gets to editing
