Knowing who your friends are and backing them..
One of the hardest things to do growing up is knowing who your real friends are and who would stand beside you till the end. As I get older I've learned they are two kinds of people. Those that tell you what you want to hear and those that tell you what you need to hear. The ones that tell you what you need to hear are usually the ones that care for you the most. The ones that tell you what you want to hear usually do so for their own selfish reasons. As we all know they are people in life that you will think are your friend, however, they really are not. Always remember actions speak way louder than words.
I've tried to apply this same logic on my playthrough of TWD and after choosing to save Hershel's boy instead Duck in season 1, I was suprised to see Kenny offer my Lee and Clem a ride. That let me know that Kenny was a good dude and from that moment own I backed Kenny and he never failed Lee in my play through. He saved Lee when Larry left him to die. He was huge at the Dairy Farm by helping Lee fight off Danny. He helped look for Clem and Savannah and he even forgave Lee when he confessed he was a murder. Kenny even had the heart to try and save Ben, who was mainly worthless and made a decision own his that virtually led to the deaths of Kajita, Duck, and Carly/Doug. As well as Lilly fianlly snapping.
Now flash forward to season 2 and here Kenny is again saving Clem from a brutal beating that was brought on by Luke's failed plan.
And speaking of Luke... So far in my playthrough, he has left Clem in a shed to almost be eaten, dropped her on the ground, and put her in harms way several times like asking her to be the one to cross the bridge with him, as well as trying to get her to get the walkie talkies for a flawed plan that resulted in Kenny's beating. I'm not saying that Luke doesn't have good intentions but if TT does make you choose between the two of them, I have seen nothing from Luke the that would even begin to make me ponder chosing him over my friend, Kenny.
Comments
Exactly, we know that Kenny is a good man and that he will ultimately do the right thing and help his loved ones.
Luke has shown selfishness at every turn. We are supposed to like him because of his charm but he hasn't done anything heroic since saving Clem with Pete in episode 1, which is when we met him. For all we know, Luke could have wanted to ditch her and Pete made him save Clem.
The official description for the next episode makes it seem like we really need to decide who our friends are, so I'm sticking with Kenny.
Oh good one of these again.
I've said it like 5 times already but I'll say it again, r.e. your luke points:
He doesn't want to put clem in the shed. Him and pete stick up for you, twice if you listen in on the kitchen conversation.
He dropped Clem in the heat of the moment, out of shock. Just like Kenny ran away from Shawn while he was dying in shock in the heat of the moment.
Kenny is also fine with Clem going to get the walkie talkies, and Luke suggests that her group gets them, not that she specifically gets them.
I have 0 problem with people disliking Luke for reasons that are valid, but the most popular ones, such as those you gave, are commonly used by Kenny fans who are trying to come up with reasons why Luke is bad rather than actually thinking them, because they feel Kenny is under threat from him.
Kenny's gonna get Clementine killed, inadvertently, of course. But he is a bomb counting down and who knows what'll happen when he goes "off."
Yes. Yes it is.
He was a seventeen year old kid . He was never given a chance to do anything positive for the group, he was always thought as a liability, and the lazy writing in season 1 continued to blame him for plot development. Ben was one of those characters i felt sorry for because no one believed in him, and by the time of episode 4 he was pretty much suicidal. Poor kid.
Sometimes a friend who is a asshole is better than someone who tries to tell you what you want to hear. To me, that is not a friend. Because a friend should always tell you the reality and not lead you on into getting hurt more example. Say you break up with your girlfriend and your chick friend knows you won't get back with her and she says "Don't worry, you'll get another chance". That's going to make it worse. Being honest is key and even if they don't want to hear it, later on they'll appreciate that you were honest.
Kenny is a family man. So when he sees Lee taking care of Clem, he has respect for the guy. And him losing his son makes him want to make sure Clem is as safe as she can be.
It's a matter of opinion really. But when people put away their feelings, Luke is no where near as Kenny is in terms of what they have done. Here's the cold reality: Luke is a popular character because him and Clem have a strong bond. Add that to the fact that girls think his cute and what do you have? A big fan base. Like Molly really. She was only in 1 episode yet because people thought she was attractive she is popular. Don't get me wrong, Molly is a great character with her in your face i don't give a shit personality, but if she looked like Brenda St John, then she wouldn't of been as popular.
Pizza....mm...uh...y'know what, I don't really give a fuck about these threads any more.
No, Kenny won't do the right thing for others. he does the right thing for himself
(post this on another page and posting it here)
We've seen Kenny make decisions that are selfish and not compassionate, In Ep.3 HE wanted to leave Beatrice on the street just so HE could get food easier. In ep 2 HE wanted to kill Larry even though we was breathing. In EP 3 he wanted to leave behind Lilly because. In EP 4 he wanted Lee to drop Ben. S2E2 HE wanted Clem's group gone just so he could have her to himself, S2E3 HE calls Luke a flake and a turd and says he cant be trusted, just because he didn't surrender. S2E3 Kenny wanted to brutally torture Carver for his own pleasure when the group needed to leave.
Lilly was broken, and what did Kenny say "Leave her on the road". Kenny would be doing the exact same thing as Luke if he was in his position.
No he doesn't. He stated that when he was knocked out, he was at peace. I.e didn't have toworry about anything.
You want to see him give up? Go watch Episode 3-4 of Season 1.
I like Molly and I'm gay, so she isn't just popular because she's attractive.
Plus, you're assuming the entire fanbase is heterosexual men or homosexual women for an assumption like that to be true.
Thank you!
Have an upvote!
Haha thanks, have one yourself!
Doesn't matter if they stuck up for her, they still put her in the shed. She had that nasty cut that could've got infected + ThatWalker was there so what would happen if Clem was weak from infection, and that walker attacked her?
I didn't say her being attractive was the sole reason, i said she had a great personality but it's the fact that people thought she was attractive that made her popular.
I never disregarded gay people, you just assumed it. No, how many people say Luke is cute? A lot.
i liked her because of her back story, it had nothing to do with the way she looked.
But it wasn't their fault: it was a democracy, and they lost. The group should be blamed for that, not Luke specifically.
The walker was only there because Clem opened the shed. It's not like they put her in there knowing a walker was there.
Yeah, me too.
'She was only in 1 episode yet because people thought she was attractive she is popular'.
I didn't imply you disregarded gay people, I said you disregarded men and women who are attracted to men. That's completely different.
.
all depends on your choices/viewpoint from season 1. Kenny saves Duck, but instead of pushing him away towards the house and then trying to help Shawn, he takes off (can't be faulted for saving his own son first, but selfish for not even trying to help Shawn). If Lee goes against him during some of the next few choices, when they both head back to the drug store to clear it out, Kenny shows he can be petty/spiteful in that scene:
They clear the last of the supplies and jump over the counter. Walkers break down the door, pinning Lee underneath. Lee yells to Kenny for help, but he just stands there and watches; forcing Lee to push the door/walkers off by himself.
During the meat locker scene, if Lee doesn't back Kenny in killing Larry, then Kenny doesn't try to help Lee when he's fighting with Danny (Kenny remains hidden in the stall, and Lily comes out to whack Danny with a sharp object. More petty/selfish behavior from him.
if the storyline didn't force Lee/Clem to go in the RV, I don't have any doubt that Kenny would have sped away from the motel and left everyone behind except Kat and Duck if he could (playing the "don't back Kenny more than not" version).
(all that said, I have a "back Kenny" storyline going, and have seen that side as well, so he can be a loyal friend as long as you are 100% loyal to him. If you haven't played alternate choices, definitely go back and try them. "Silent" Lee is quite entertaining).
edit: in the "silent" Lee approach, during episode 4, Kenny refuses to go with you to find Clem because you haven't supported him, so yet another strike in that version.
He wanted food for the group, not himself and all the supplies. + If Lee decides he wants to kill her, Kenny says "Lets think about this" It's only after Beatrice gets bitten that Kenny says leave her and really, when she's bit, what can you do for her?
Kenny didn't know he was breathing, He starts breathing at almost the same time Kenny smashes his head in. And tell me, had Larry died, how would they stop a walker that big? Lily killed Carely in cold blood, what right does she have to be with the group? What would happen if she got into an argument with someone else? Yeah and then if Ben lives, Kenny gains respect for him. Haha, no he didn't. as far i remember, Luke and Nick and Kenny were arguing no? So does that mean Luke wants clem all to himself? A lot of people don't trust Luke anyway? Carver bashed Kennys head in because of a plan that LUKE messed up.That's like saying Mollys at fault because she wanted to bash the doctor in the alley way and she wasted time and walkers spotted them.
Lily killed a member of the group over an argument, how can she be trusted after that?
This, I find it so annoying that people insult Luke for little things and pretend Kenny has done no wrong whatsoever.
Kenny said he was at peace when he was getting bashed. When he was knocked out, he didn't have to worry about the problems in the world or his issues with losing his wife and son. Wrong again, he said that in episode 5, and he actually said "You don't just end it because it's hard, you stick it out as long as you can, you help others around you". And he never said he was giving up, just that he was at peace when he was out cold.
You didn't add where i complimented her personality, go have another read.
How is it different?
...it's different because women who are attracted to men aren't gay?
First off, Luke didn't even want to put her in the shed, but Luke had to. Second off, Luke dropped her because he was in shock, even if i sided with Clem, even i'd drop her to the ground. Third, Clementine agreed to go on the bridge... Fourth, his plan had nothing to do with Kenny's beating, he got wreckless trying to catch food, Kenny volunteered to give the radio over, and he insulted Carver for it, leading to his beating.
Luke is a good person, and he honestly cares about Clem
I said Pete and Luke, not just Luke.
There were Walkers walking all around the house, They should've know that one could stumble upon Clementine.
Read again, i said When does Kenny leaving Shawn make it a good thing? It wasn't, Kenny should've helped just like Luke shouldn't off dropped Clementine.
And who's fault is that? HIS. He was the one who decided to take off, no one forced him to leave. You can think what you want but i honestly feel nothing for his character. Nick is more interesting then Luke. And besides, why should i trust someone who keeps taking off and doesn't explain themselves?
Larry was breathing before he bashed it in and plus he didn't let anyone else voice there opinion, he just said "I want to do it, so ill do it" Zombies don't turn that easily, it took Lee like 8 hours to die. So Larry wouldn't have reanimated while they were in there and if he did they could just bash his head with the salt licks. Pete was bitten and many people didn't just fed him to the zombies, there was lots they could have done to save Beatrice or at least let her have an easy death. Lilly killed Carley in cold blood because she was broken, she had no one to trust anymore. How did Luke 'mess up' Luke walked the whole fucking day to Carvers camp and risked his life to save them! It was Kenny's choice to go up to Carver and give him the Walkie Talkie. If Kenny hadn't killed Carver with the crowbar Carlos would still be alive, and Sarita might have not gotten bit.
Well, Luke isn't really my favorite, But I don't hate him. He took care of Clem sometimes, But he just seems to be a confused person. He doesn't really know what he wants.
It wasn't really Kenny's fault that Carlos got killed or Sarita got bittten, Carlos got killed because he couldn't keep his mouth shut and Sarita got bit because there's walkers in every direction, you're most likely going to get bit. Saving Beatrice would of been incredibly stupid as she's screaming out loud attracting walkers, not to mention she had a whole crowd of walkers coming after her, the only rational thing to do was to shoot Beatrice and end her suffering, Kenny's plan to leave her wasn't the most rational thing to do, but it's not a terrible plan, as it would of given you time to get supplies for the group and yourself, keep in mind, Lily and Larry would thought you should of just left the teacher to get eaten and suffer in episode 2, so Kenny's not the only one to leave people behind, it's the apocalypse, no one is going to be 100% rational or goody two shoes.
Not at all. I don't judge by how any one is attracted. If you're gay and you're attracted to the same sex, that's your life. Im saying that because Molly is a attractive character to MOST that's why she's popular.
Take Justin Bieber for example. His music is considered shit by a lot of people yet his popular why? Because Girls think his attractive. Same with Luke, you can't tell me not a lot of girls find Luke quote "Cute"?
No one has ever said Kenny is perfect. Everyone has made mistakes and done the wrong things. That's life.
But Kenny does MOST of the bad things if you don't side with him. You can side with Luke, yet he still takes off and doesn't even have respect to tell you where his been. If his foiled a plan i.e the walkie talkies, then shouldn't he tell the group where he took off to? Remember Kenny saying to Lee "Important to stay honest with each other"? What gives Luke the right to take off and thencome back like he never went away?
He asks Lee for his support so it's not he just went "My choice is right, lets kill him, doesn't matter if you agree Lee".
Lol what did i just read? Lee was bitten on the wrist. Larry had a heart attack. Big difference. Lee had an infection that was slowly killing him. Larry had a heart attack that coud've killed him right then. It would've taken a couple of minutes after he died max for him to turn. A "6"4 300lb" walker coming at you, do you think it be that easy to saltlick him? With no weapons and a room that small? Good luck. No because that's a matter of opinion. Also didn't Pete say early on that they treated a bite victim and it worked? Maybe some of the players thought that would work. Like what? Shoot the gun athow many walkers? They didn't have enough ammo to shoot all of them and that would've only bought more walkers onto Lee and Kenny and you do have the choice to put her out of her misery BUT Kenny DOES say lets think about this. Only after shegets bit does he "not care".
So because she's depressed and she gets told to back of someone, it gives her the right to kill someone? As i recall, it was Lily who started the argument with Carely poking her finger around. And like i've said, if Luke didn't desert the group, then he wouldn't of been all fatigued and having to walk for miles, that was HIS choice. And Kenny didn't want anyone getting hurt, that's why he said he took them. Better then running off and leaving the group and not even have the respect to tell the group where he went. He says "We should leave Kenny? That's nice. How do you know for certain he was cause of Carlos being shot? Carvers group would've shot down eventually. You're just clucthing straws now.
he might ask for support, but he kills Larry no matter what Lee does. If Lee agrees, then you try to pull Lily away while Kenny drops the salt-lick. If Lee disagrees and tries to help Lily, Kenny drops the salt lick while Lee is trying to assist. If Lee doesn't say anything, Kenny shoves him back and says "You're useless!" and kills Larry anyway. So he does go with "My choice is right, lets kill him, doesn't matter if you agree Lee".
Good post, but I agree the same. How anyone could pick Kuke over Lenny beats me
Great, ANOTHER Kenny vs Luke thread. How foolish of me to think that we were through that part.
"luke's plan got kenny beaten, kenny's plan either gets alvin killed or puts clem in great danger but like, it's fine because kenny is my boyfriend" - what you people sound like.
They both have certain good points and bad points. As a person I prefer luke, but I have more history with kenny, I know he's trustworthy. Neither of them would make very good leaders, luke doesn't have what it takes to keep the group cohesive and kenny acts too rashly without enough thought. But right now the only person I have fierce loyalty for is Sarah. She's sweet and whilst she seems too fragile and a liability right now that's just because she's sheltered - I think she can deal with her loss and move on, to become a stronger person - much like clem has over the course of the two games.
Edit: And that's not even mentioning that the final scene was kenny's idea, and that all the deaths that occurred there are indirectly his fault (and no I don't blame him for it, but nor do I blame luke for kenny's beating - blaming one and not the other is stupid).
Read again, That quote was in direct response to what Carely123 said quote "Larry was breathing before he bashed it in and plus he didn't let anyone else voice there opinion, he just said "I want to do it, so ill do it"
1: Larry ASKED Lee to help him so her whole comment about Kenny doing it without letting anyone else have a say was bullshit
and
2: He never said I want to do, so i'll do it" He asked Lee to help him and yes like you said whatever choice you make he will still do it i never denied that. I merely said he DOES ask Lee to help him rather then im going to do it.
Kenny is like my real best friend, Matt. I've known Matt since 2nd Grade, and he always stands up for me. Hell, he'd probably take a Carver beating for me, and I'd do the same for him. Why would you ditch Kenny, after all you guys have been through? That's like me randomly ignoring Matt for the rest of my life. So I'm with you, OP.
Kenny is my boyfriend. #DealWithIt
Edit: I should say I'm not agreeing that's why people like her, just saying that who you want to bang isn't really relevant and there are probably better angles of arguing (or just saying you think he's wrong).
